Is Doing Side Activities While Gambling, is it good or not?

I cant name any special activity that I do parallel gambling. They are always different and it depends from the game and place I gamble. I dont focus only on the game, looking only in the casino tab in my browser, holding mouse in one hand and keeping other hand on keyboard. I look around, I scroll news, I read forum, I drink coffee, water, eat a candy, talk. I do something and do nothing at once. I can not name anything that I always do. Like I always drink coffee holding cup in left hand, because right hand I use to click on BET. Some games require maximum focus, others dont.

Personally, I don’t do other activities when I gambling, I just focus on gambling because I don’t want to mess up my decisions. Also, if I follow them and start smoking for example, wouldn’t it be better to use the money for gambling instead of buying other things?

I don't see anything wrong with a player combining gaming with other activities. I can also take breaks during the game and go get a coffee or place bets at a bar and drink beer. For me, it's entertainment, not something serious. I need to be completely focused and not get distracted. There's money involved, which I certainly don't worry about and isn't worth my nerves.

Anyone who must maintain a healthy gambling practice must avoid getting involved with these things you mentioned because that is almost what destroys all gamblers, whenever they are addicted to drinking or smoking as you mentioned its ruined them in reality because they won't be able to control themselves anymore while gambling because if they don't consume it you would see them acting differently.

I don't quite understand. What do you actually do when gambling, by the way? Or which particular gambling game are you referring to? Do they need focus as if they're puzzles or something you need to deeply analyze? Are gamblers like solving complex problems while playing or are they just mindlessly clicking on buttons and wait for the result?

For me, it seems pinball needs way more focus than majority of gambling games. When I'm gambling, I'm usually in the middle of something or when on a break.

Just days ago, me and my friends spent a few days in a mountain resort. It was funny because while we're gambling on cards, almost each of us were also gambling individually on our phones. So, yeah, you could surely divide your focus while gambling.

All activities that you mentioned are perfect partner of gambling since it doesn’t need decision making when drinking, smoking or some snack.

Only activities that involves decision making such as job, listening to someone talking and etc. are those that shouldn’t be combined to gambling.

Depending on the type of side activity you are doing, you can gamble and be doing other things. For example, when playing slot, I do set the game in auto spin of 100 and continue doing whatever I'm doing and whenever there is a bonus that will require my attention, then I can click to collect the free spin and all the benefits that comes with it. However, there are some games that require total concentration, games like crash, mines and others that requires input, they cannot be combined with other things. Yes, this is a very common thing, specially if you have played on land base casinos, there are tables that are designated for smoking. And as far as drinks goes, most casinos offer it for free. You can just ask from their concierge or a waitress or waiter might come to you and take your order. You can even order food, so you can eat while playing.

I don't think that the gamblers are distracted with this "side activities", you are going to be distracted if you are thirsty or wanted to drink something for refreshment or food if you are hungry so that you can continue to play and focus on the games itself.

It's a very high expectation of oneself to be expected to beat the bling and even his opponents at the same time.
This type of activity can have some sort of a lucky run but not much more.
Really it's a waste of time and those trying to convince anyone otherwise are focusing on the wrong side of things.
I've seen hundreds of courses on how to supposedly get rich from pocker online.
Why would they sell a course to make money if they had an infinite money method in their hands? The eternal question...

It could be helpfull like a way to relax in a certain way, but would you risk serious amount of money?
I don't know even if a "Large" win could be really enjoyable. There are some casinos that offer free spins (and maybe this could be a good way to get free btc )

I would say that it depends on the activities that you are engaged in, there's nothing wrong in taking coffee, soda or a little alcohol while gambling and for me I don't think doing any of these would make me lose focus on what I'm doing but in the aspect of alcohol consumption you must have limits to avoid getting intoxicated.

I think such side activities do not affect gambling much while playing. Everyone does this not only while gambling but also in other areas too. I think it gives a lot of confidence when gambling. This keeps most of the time away from worrying as most people tend to smoke or drink alcohol during critical times. And while gambling there is tension and the possibility of emotional changes is high. That's why I think having a side activity is a great way.

I personally like to gamble like that but I think if you do it all the time, that's not healthy at all. Besides, gambling itself wasn't healthy considering you're not doing some exercise on yourself plus having some unnecessary unhealthy lifestyle like smoking, eating junk foods, drinking liquor, soda etc., it will probably cost you big time.

The thing with sports betting is that you bet beforehand and then the next thing you could possibly do is just watch the game you bet on and most of the time I tend to just lie or sit while watching. Seldomly, I drink coffee or some snacks depending on the weather and it really gets me focused tbh. We have different wants so I guess the money for gambling and the money for using our wants is definitely allocated.

OP, everything will always be based on what gambling means to a person. If you are serious about the fact that while playing the game, you must think, since your "earnings" depend on it, then of course, attention, like any activity at work, will be mandatory. But seriously, I don't see any obstacles when gambling, talking to friends, which is basically what happens in my company, or drinking coffee or beer mixed with smoking hookah or cigarettes. If you are having fun, then everything that is compatible with recreation will not be prohibited from being done in conjunction with gambling. Of course, I mean slots.

It depends on the type of side activity that I want to do while gambling, if it is nothing serious that won't divide my attention I wouldn't mind like having a drink, listening to music or slow dancing, nothing too serious. But I cannot gambling and at the same time be engaging in something that equally requires my full attention like driving or climbing a ladder, it will cause distractions and possible harm to me. I don't take gambling too seriously that I have to risk getting injured, if I have something very serious to do I will stop gambling and focus on the task. Gambling is better to engage in during our leisure times so we can relax and give it complete attention.

OP, people have their own ways of entertaining themselves while being engaged in such event or activities. I have a friend who does drink whenever he is palying games, although he does not smoke but he drinks and one day I asked him and he told me that he just like doing it to entertain himself so as to avoid being bored while playing games. So I knew majority of gamblers who does such do that to be a bit active and lively with fun while playing games.

There is nothing wrong with that but such act should be put under control by whomever that is doing such because sometime alcohol intoxicates and it might trigger some reactions from them whenever they loss games and it results to sometng else. That is why I do not advise taking alcohol or smoking while gambling. You can drink none alcoholic drinks so that you do not get intoxicated while gambling, this could help put you in your right sense as well.

Well, I wouldn't say that coffee & cigarettes are real activities... they are more like habits or rituals. Most gamblers I know don't just sit and stare at the screen/table/cards. Coffee, cigarettes, music, alcohol, even chatting, is something like a ritual... It's all part of the experience. Does it help focus? It's a tricky question... it definitely can keep the nerves busy, but at the same time, it can have negative effects. I guess all depends on the person & more importantly "how you do it".

Your observation that smoking and drinking are harmful to health is valid. However, the OP is not talking about addiction or abusing these behavour. The thread is about the possibility of combining these actions with gambling. It is not everyone that drinks alchohol abuse it or gets drunk with it. Some people drink moderately in physical casinos, and they still put in the required skills and attention in their games. Abuse of these items is wrong. Doing them in moderation will cause no harm to gamblers. The most important thing for me is to have fun, as I also consider my health.

Some folk could very well focus when they are high on something, and that's why they usually associate the habit of smoking and drinking with gambling. But then everyone's system is very different as well as their level of reaction.... Naturally I don't smoke, so I don't do cigarettes.. I mostly stock up my freezer with a couple of beer, so basically I drink mostly with friends, and I do so while gambling.. But while drinking I usually take a sizable amount.. I don't drink myself to stupor, coz I know how bad it could be... Gambling requires some level of concentration especially when I am trying to properly analyze a matches and that concentration cannot be gotten when I am high..

That's your way; every gambler is different from one another. I think drinking beer or coffee is a way to motivate themselves or increase their attention.
Whenever I bet, I have an energy drink or a coffee beside me to increase my concentration. I don't think it will interfere with your attention its different if you are taking a call and you are gambling; it will divert your attention.

Depending on the gambling games you are playing. On games like slot which is same on the OP picture can be played in auto mode and certain number of spin set meaning the outcome will just be the same regardless if you watch it auto spin or not while doing other activities since it completely luck based.

On games such as poker, blackjack and other games that requires decision making that will impact the outcome obviously requires attention and avoid other activities that requires critical thinking too.

However, simple task can always do at the same time on gambling since all gambling games have mini time interval.
