A lot of persons and things I read has been talking about this seed pharse, but I don’t have it. Even if I did have it, it will be in my old computer..
Does that mean I can’t get the Bitcoin without a seed pharse?

We would be very sorry if you no longer have your seed phrase, even if you cannot find it on your old computer or wherever you stored your backup, because you need the seed phrase to access the assets stored in your wallet, even if you have deleted the wallet application.
To do this, you need to reopen your old computer to check where you stored your seed phrase.
If I'm not mistaken, if you don't have the seed phrase, you will no longer have access to your Bitcoin.

You said that you lost your phrase key. The main thing required to access your funds is what you have already lost, so there is really no way for you to recover those funds again. That is the reality of the situation.

It is like having everything you need but the house room you want to enter is locked. You once had the key to that lock but for some reason you lost it. In a normal situation, you could break the lock and still enter the  house room. But in the crypto space and you know that crypto space totally difference and the wallets we use work differently. If you lose or forget the private key or the security phrase, there is no way to regain access to that wallet. So being desperate about getting the wallet back or asking how it can be recovered will not really change the situation.

Good day everyone, I have been trying to recover the Bitcoin a friend of mine helped me buy some years back..  Can I be helped here?
Bitcoin is really expensive now, so i really need to get those bitcoins.
what is this platform for btw? Because this website looks really old. I wonder what’s going on here and if I can be helped here.

Since you have come to this forum, you will definitely be helped, but before that you need to share some information here. Since you have not provided any information yet, no one can help you get your Bitcoin back very well. Basically, you need to tell us in which wallet you kept your Bitcoins or from where you bought them and you also need to discuss in detail whether you have the keys to your wallet. Or if the keys to your wallet are stuck in the pen drive, then it is definitely possible to get your Bitcoin back. Since you invested in Bitcoin many years ago, you need to discuss some important things here to get them back, only then can we help you.

You cannot recover Bitcoin, and this is one of the reasons why you need to pay attention and have a good understanding of Bitcoin, because when you make mistakes, it is very difficult to correct them unless you have to start all over again.

If anyone tells you Bitcoin can be recovered, just know that the person is lying. Bitcoin recovery is one of the latest scam strategies right now; scammers use this method to collect more money from victims because of how desperate they are to gain back their money.

I have a question btw, i want to ask how i can make money off Bitcoin, because it seems like a lot of persons are making good money off Bitcoin today..
I just know little about it though, based on months of trying to get the Godforsaken lost bitcoin.
Goshhh....

This is a completely different question so I suggest you open a new topic for that question.
In short, yes, some people make money on bitcoin but some have also lost money on bitcoin and given up.
My personal belief is that it is possible to make money on bitcoin, with the right plan and strategy, as well as quality market analysis and a clear exit strategy.
If you don't know what you are doing and have no experience with crypto, I suggest you don't rush and get well informed about everything first.
The very fact that you lost your previous bitcoin funds tells me that you still have a lot to learn before making any decisions about a new investment in bitcoin, otherwise the result could be the same.
Security and privacy are very important in the crypto world.

Before making profit with Bitcoin, people must buy and store coins first so they must know how to buy bitcoin safely, how to store bitcoin safely that are first most important practice for Bitcoin holders. If they don't do it rightly, they will lose money at start with buying and getting scammed by scammers, or losing their coins to hackers or scam exit from exchange.

I was just in a bad mood because of my lost wallet

Are you sure you've ever had a wallet where someone sent Bitcoin in a transaction? When I read that a friend who helped was involved in everything, I wonder if you had anything at all or did you just think you had something? I'm not saying that's the case with you, but so-called "friends" often sell watch-only wallets where you can only see your balance, but that's all you can do with such a wallet.

I don’t know how the platform your friend referred you to, but I think the Bitcoin investment I know is you need a wallet address to hold your Bitcoin which if you want to use your personal wallet, but if you are comfortable with centralized exchanges then you only need to sign up in any exchange if your choice and probably pass KYC and save with them which is mostly not recommended because you will not have control over your funds, therefore, it is better to hold in your personal wallet which you need to create and hold your seed phrase safely because they are your keys to the wallet.

You should have learn about Bitcoin before you invested in or you should learn after your investment especially the crucial saving method of Bitcoin. We don’t usually trust anyone with your seed phrase because you will never know and who move your Bitcoin if people have access to your seed phrase.

So are you giving up on your recovery search or you're  giving up after realising something?

Why not let's  take it further, your friend bought it right? which means he probably still have access to the purchase  account. Tell him to login to his Luno account , it was just a rebranding all customer  details shouldn't be affected . Just tell him you need the transaction  id of the funds he sent then or the address he sent it to.

Exactly, for additional questions it is best to start a new discussion on this forum.
I am sorry that we can't help you get your bitcoin funds back but what happened to you is a common problem for many crypto users and has happened many times.
Unfortunately, crypto errors are very expensive and can't be fixed.
I ask you to be much more careful when you start your bitcoin adventure again and to pay much more attention to your ''seeed phase'' this time because now you understand how important it is, right?
I wish you the best of luck in your future crypto journey and that you don't have any more problems like this.

I think  you haven't found your Bitcoin wallet yet. Please provide more details so we can help you find it (and don't give out any sensitive information about it).

If you did store it on your old computer, I think there is still a chance you can get it back. Even if, some files associated with your wallet were deleted, they can still be recovered.

The question is: do you still have your old computer? If so, you can simply take the storage drive (it should be a hard drive), and plug it into your new computer as an external drive, then simply search it. So, I hope you don't give up on finding your lost wallet or Bitcoins; there is still a chance you can access your wallet again.

Don't hesitate to ask any questions you have here; this is the right place for crypto-related issues, especially Bitcoin. There are plenty of people here to help, including experienced individuals.

what is this platform for btw? Because this website looks really old. I wonder what’s going on here and if I can be helped here.

If your owned BTC is in a non-custodial wallet and you happen to lost the private key of your Bitcoin address, I am afraid that no one from this forum can help you recover your BTC.  If it is on the exchange then just create a ticket and have the exchange customer support help you.

but be reminded that there will be people that will send you private messages and tell you that they can help.  Most likely, these people are planning to scam you of your money so be aware of these schemes.

...
Then it was sent to my wallet which was created on my computer.
OK, that sounds like you didn't leave your coins on the exchange but transfered them to your own wallet.

Do you still have access to that wallet on your (old) computer?

That means the BTC is now on your computer, is there a problem with your computer that you can't access bros @Rafel Marcel?
Bitcoins are only on the blockchain, never on your own device. What you hopefully have on your own device are private keys that allow spending/moving of "your bitcoins". I know, I'm nitpicking... but clarity is important for newbies as long as they need to learn how Bitcoin works.

A lot of persons and things I read has been talking about this seed pharse, but I don’t have it. Even if I did have it, it will be in my old computer..
Does that mean I can’t get the Bitcoin without a seed pharse?
Do you still have access to your old computer and do you possibly have backups of it?

Could you tell us which wallet was used?

Non-custodial wallets where the private keys are only in your possession commonly use mnemonic recovery words to recover the wallet OR are file based as Bitcoin Core which doesn't use mnemonic recovery words and where you need to have at least one working backup copy of your wallet file (usually called wallet.dat in the case of Bitcoin Core node/wallet software).

Depending on what wallet you used and if your wallet uses mnemonic recovery words, I'd ask why you don't have those (many call them seed words)? Are you very sure about this? No documentation whatsoever?

Yes, unfortunately if you have lost your ''Seed Recovery Phrase'' and login details for your Bitx account then you cannot access your bitcoin funds.
...
This is the only way to get your bitcoin funds back.
OP said he transfered coins to his own wallet. I would say BitX account not important then.

You're wrong with your assessment, IF OP still can access and open his wallet on his old computer.

Sure, mnemonic recovery words would be better as it means that his wallet likely could be recovered fully and make his coins accessible.

There is no way you can get your bitcoins back without your seed phrase.
You're wrong if OP can still access and open his old wallet. See my comment above.

I find your assessment a bit too absolute and not quite helpful. Yes, having recovery words would be better and usually will allow better chances for wallet recovery. I don't deny this.

Since you said that you lost seed phrase, the only way you can get access to your bitcoin if you still have that computer and the bitcoin wallet where you stored the bitcooin+password to unlock the wallet.

If not, then you can forget about it.
True, I agree!

...
Your absolute assessment isn't quite right, see my comments to quotes of Daniel91 and Grace333.

...
Did you even read further replies by OP? He already said the his coins where transfered from the used exchange to his own wallet which is not yet known at the time of your post.

There are more people that blabber that you can only recover your coins with mnemonic recovery words / seed phrase. I'm probably not going to cite everyone, but this is not quite true as long as there's possible access to OP's wallet, meaning wallet file can be opened and if it has wallet encryption enabled, of course a decryption password/passphrase is required and needed.

The latter could be a problem as OP doesn't seem to have a lot of details about his old wallet.

I can't remember that OP wrote so far that his old wallet isn't accessible anymore, no reasons stated IIRC.

Has OP given up as he came up with other questions? Why is old computer not accessible and the old wallet on it?

A lot of persons and things I read has been talking about this seed pharse, but I don’t have it. Even if I did have it, it will be in my old computer..
Does that mean I can’t get the Bitcoin without a seed pharse?

You may still be able to recover the Bitcoin even without the seed phrase if you still have the wallet.dat file. Try searching for it here:
C:\Users\YOUR_USERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Bitcoin\

Open Bitcoin Core and try sending a small transaction. If the wallet is encrypted, it will ask for the password. In that case you can extract the wallet hash using John the Ripper with the bitcoin2john.py script.

If you send me the hash, not the wallet file, I can try to help recover the password. Any hints about what the password might be (words, dates, patterns, length) can really help.

Don’t worry, sharing the hash doesn’t give access to your wallet, it only allows password testing.

There’s no upfront payment. If the password is found, we can verify it together (for example through TeamViewer) and you create the transaction yourself sending BTC to another address of yours and including a commission for my work. Or we can use escrow with a trusted member from this forum.

what is this platform for btw? Because this website looks really old. I wonder what’s going on here and if I can be helped here.
The old design is actually a sign of how long this forum has been the main hub for bitcoin development and discussion. To get help with recovery you need to provide more details about how the coins were stored without sharing any sensitive data or private keys. You should look into the technical support section but be very careful with anyone sending you private messages offering to help for a fee

Good day everyone, I have been trying to recover the Bitcoin a friend of mine helped me buy some years back..  Can I be helped here?
Bitcoin is really expensive now, so i really need to get those bitcoins.

If you truly do value Bitcoin this much and can attest to its real time value today, you would as well understand that you’ve given way too little information to come by any help.

Mind you, if you had used a self custody wallet to store this coin back in the day, it’s as good as gone. If you have saved them on an exchange and that exacted is still in existence, you’ll be lucky to try and recover your exchange password through available means else,

Your negligence in taking serious what didn’t mean much to you back in the day would prove really costly in this present times.

It’s a discussion forum and you’re most welcome to it. Feel free to discuss with folks but be sure to read the rules.

Where is your friend, can't you get across to him to help you out or has he lost all it will take him to recover the wallet, if yes then there is nothing anyone can do about it, your stored bitcoin is gone, since you can't get the recovery details, try and meet that friend of yours to see if he can still be of help since he is the one that helped you in buying it if possible.

Ok, I didn't say that seed phrase is the only way to recover btc funds. In my post I said that this is one of the possible ways and the other way is if he can access his old wallet, ie if he can find the login details, it doesn't matter which account we are talking about, BitX or some other account.
It seems to me that someone has already mentioned that BitX no longer exists under that name and some other crypto accounts and wallets, which were used in the past, no longer exist, but I hope that this is not the case with the OP and that in the end he will still manage to find either the seed phrase or login data from their wallets and recover his funds.

OP never stated in any of his comment that the wallet is Core, all we know is that the coins were transferred  to their wallet without  further details, and now, they seem to have vanished since  their last post . Just wondering  why you wrote l this because it looks totally off-topic and doesn't  help with OP situation.

I did in my first post on this thread but I never mentioned  accounts were lost .
It was only rebranding which shouldn't affect their database.
