Man, this situation keeps things worrying and no one has got an idea even these leaders when this war will stop. The Ukraine and Russia hasn't even ended yet.
I expect the same thing with the Iran-US conflict because neither side seems willing to back down. I don't expect Iran to step down, and I don't expect the US to do it either. The US could probably escalate further, but I don't think it wants to launch a full-scale attack just to end the conflict. On the other hand, I don't think Iran has the capability to fully attack the US and force an end to the conflict either. That's why I think this situation could drag on for years unless one side eventually decides to compromise or back down. As long as both sides remain firm on their positions, I don't see a quick resolution. No one's backing down. And I guess whoever started it should be blamed by other world leaders when there was peace before the attack. No one knows how they're going to deescalate the situation while the oil prices I think are back to increase. Yup, the price is now starting to fly high again as there's no assurance whether these two rival countries will allow those foreign users of this passage way knowing both Iran and US are really trying to have that control over Strait of Hormuz and similar to what you've said, I agree that other political leaders especially those who have that competitive power not go to any side but instead try to be in the middle and if possible discuss things in a peace manner instead of provoking or pushing one side to to their attacks or counter attacks.

The problem with the Strait of Hormuz and Iran is that if this situation drags on for a long time, the Strait will simply lose its appeal, other suppliers will establish alternative oil supply routes, and Iran will not only fail to reap any benefits but will also lose its market, because the Strait of Hormuz...turns out can be blocked from both sides-something the IRGC, for some reason, didn’t consider

The problem with the Strait of Hormuz and Iran is that if this situation drags on for a long time, the Strait will simply lose its appeal, other suppliers will establish alternative oil supply routes,
Alternative routes for moving oil have been explored and is still being discussed, but truth is, they all fall short and are incapable of replacing the Strait of Hormuz. About 20 million barrels of oil crosses the Strait of Hormuz daily, there is no alternative source that can come close to that capacity. Meaning that even if the Strait is very volatile, and traffic can often be halted, there are really no viable alternatives that can match its capacity, yet they are even more expensive to run.

Is the UN can't step into this war and be the mediator of them? Although we continue to complain that it's getting too much, there's nothing we can do with that. Does the UN can only intervene if the countries involved in a war are not that powerful?

Lol, is it news to you that the U.N. is grossly ineffective, i believe that ought to be a well-known information. The U.N. constantly fail in achieving any of its core objectives, be it in maintaining peace or preventing large-scale conflicts. Their position is even worse-off right now, as they are on the brink of going broke. In case you do not know, The U.S. and China have failed to provide any sort of funding for the organization for a while now, so they are not in the best state right now.

I have an idea of how they mostly help to those who are needy in their eyes. So they're only reactive based on the country's that funds them. And with these two, they've got no support that receive anymore. I thought that they're boasting what the organization is about in these cases of international conflicts. Thanks, I get it right now.

That is not correct. The U.N. is funded by all of its members, through a compulsory payment made to the organization, but these contributions are not equal, certain countries pay far larger than others. For example, the U.S. contributes the largest amount to the U.N., followed by China. So, it is not a case of being "reactive" based on funding. It is basically an ineffective and corrupt organization, and i mentioned the issue of funding because they are on the brink of bankrputcy due to unpaid contributions from different countries, which makes them even more ineffective.

If you own the same asset but pull it in different directions, it will simply tear apart, and neither side will be able to benefit from its use. That is exactly what we are seeing right now. At the same time, it is important to understand that the blockade of the Strait of Hormuz definitely has a more negative impact on Iran than on the United States. As a result of the standoff, Iran’s infrastructure, such as the island of Khark, could suffer, which would result in Iran losing the ability to ship oil at all.

From the constant escalation in the ongoing war I can striaghtly say without having double thought that US is determined to put an end to iran with or without the close of the strait of Hormuz. Although the inflation experienced by countries in the Eastern locations at first was because of the closure of the strait of Hormuz which was why the US fought tirelessly to take over but one thing getting me confused is why iran has refused to put an end to this there desired ambition of owning a nuclear weapon even after losing all to the war. If i am opportune to have a say on this ongoing conflict, I will push for iran to quickly quit this selfish ambition and uphold peace because If it continues with this speed there will be no Iran in months to come.
The U.S. does not want to destroy IRAN; the U.S. and Israel want to destroy the terrorist regime that has been destabilizing the entire region for many decades. And why does "Iran not want to put an end to its selfish ambitions"? It’s all very simple. It’s not Iran, but the IRGC and a regime of fanatics for whom the loss of power means the loss of financial resources, and most likely their lives, because the Iranian people will seek revenge against these usurpers for decades of terror and oppression! P.S. The U.S. isn’t fighting for control of the Strait of Hormuz; it’s simply mirroring the actions of the IRGC junta.

Oh right, so I did a bit of searching about these debts and it's said that the US has got $4bn of debt to them although some were paid this February of around $160m. And for China, they owe UN of about $430m. So you're right, they will be ineffective when they won't have these amounts. Too much to expect from these countries which are currently also in debt.

Not even does the Strait of Hormuz remain closed again for now, even the Red Sea are also in risk of closing due to the Houthis in Yemen attacking any ships which are going to pass through that sea route. I think the situation in the middle east region is getting more and more worst with Donald Trump in the white house, he does not seems to have any clue about how to resolve the situation with Iran now after he started a pointless war and I believe the energy and oil crisis would continue to worsen worldwide resulting in high inflations around the world.

If the conflict between Iran-US escalates further, the disruption or closure of the Red Sea shipping route may become unavoidable. The Houthis have announced a ban on Saudi oil tanker , and they could also block this shipping route if the situation deteriorates further. The Bab el Mandeb Strait currently handles around 4-5% of the world's oil supply. That means if it is also closed, more than 25% of the global oil supply would be disrupted, creating an even bigger shock to the global economy. https://www.cnbc.com/2026/07/20/iran-houthi-yemen-saudi-arabia.html

It is not about waging war with Iran but it is more than that as you said. However, it seems to the world that US wanted to take control over Iran's territory. And it is not. The modern world is rife with information manipulation; this is particularly often used to turn a criminal into a victim, shift blame onto those who bear no responsibility, and engage in similar manipulation of people’s minds. As in this case, the situation here is extremely simple: peace in the region and in Iran means the demise of the totalitarian terrorist regime and its puppets. At the same time, it is highly likely that the IRGC junta is being used by certain other countries whose goal is either global destabilization to achieve their own objectives or to divert the world’s attention away from themselves. That is why this very regime will now resort to anything, from terror to staged terrorist attacks, in order to shift the blame onto the other side; we already know of such examples from history.... The truth is, the maneuver involving the Strait of Hormuz had an unexpected effect: the IRGC outplayed themselves, scored an own goal, and handed themselves a red card

Isn't it time for the free people of Iran to step up and overthrow this insane regime of fanatics? And the question is: does it even have the power? As I understand it, the US and Israel are powerless to change the situation. So what's left then? There has to be some way out. I understand that speaking out against the regime is incredibly dangerous, but nothing gathers water.

I understand that speaking out against the regime is incredibly dangerous, but nothing gathers water.
Maybe you should pay a visit to Iran to confirm for yourself that the free people of Iran support their government and they're not a sellout like Venezuela. The burial of their late Supreme leader should tell you enough that they are fully behind the current government on Iran. The people who should riot against their current government should be citizens of the United States. Because it is shameful how they have used their tax payers money to fund an unnecessary war dragging the global economy into a great depression. Whatever happens, the Iranians are refusing to back down.

The U.S. does not want to destroy IRAN; the U.S. and Israel want to destroy the terrorist regime that has been destabilizing the entire region for many decades.
There was such an opportunity at the beginning of the year, when the Iranian people took to the streets to protest against the totalitarian regime, but at that time, help was needed to stand up to the heavily armed IRGC terrorists and the Basij. But the regime drowned those protests in blood, as we all witnessed... Whether this uprising will happen again and whether the necessary assistance will be provided to the Iranian people-that is the question. The Strait of Hormuz, oil, and other resources that currently fund terrorism must belong to the Iranian people—the only legitimate authority in the country!

The problem with the Strait of Hormuz and Iran is that if this situation drags on for a long time, the Strait will simply lose its appeal, other suppliers will establish alternative oil supply routes, and Iran will not only fail to reap any benefits but will also lose its market, because the Strait of Hormuz...turns out can be blocked from both sides-something the IRGC, for some reason, didn’t consider Two captains can't lead one ship, both the US and Iran wants to be in charge of that Strait none wants to back down for the other that's why we keep hearing news of blockades and opening over and over. They need to find a solution cause it ruining business of their allies in the sense that Iranian allies woukd pay tolls to us for passage like US allies do same for Iran but I think US is looking for other alternatives to boycott passage of their product through that Strait cause not too long from today, I saw a news that says, "US oil giant Chevron explores new pipeline routes in Iraq to bypass the Strait of Hormuz". Strait of Hormuz is one of the problems in between Iran and US but it was never even part of the fight initially, out of the things US highlighted were abuse of human right, corrupt government, nuclear weapon research and enrichment, attack on Israel and many more issues that have been there for ages. It make nonsense to centered this into Strait of Hormuz, if shipment of goods and oil were not affected in this fight, Hormuz wouldn't be heard even once, smart move from Iran I must say. There is nothing about captain in a war, you can't make peace with a threat. Iran never called for peace, the ally and other countries were the ones trying to make both countries settle for peace but US wanted this more than anybody. They were lost the war and they look weak, forget about those threats he was writing on his truth social, he can't nuke down a whole civilization of Iran and other countries will watch him go free. If Iran are ready to stop Nuclear research which was Isreal fear from day one, then he need to stop their sanctions and not threaten a country that has lost everything.
