Do you consider yourself a smart bettor? In what sense can you say that about yourself, especially if you’re not really winning your bets?

Many of us here have been gambling for years already. If we look at it honestly, some people would probably say it’s stupid to keep gambling if we’re not actually making money from it. Yet we’re still here, still betting, still following games and odds. So can we really call ourselves smart bettors if we’re losing in the long run? Or is that just something we tell ourselves so it’s easier to keep gambling?

At the same time, if we’ve been doing this for years, maybe there’s still something we get out of it. Not money, but maybe the entertainment, the experience, understanding the games and odds better, or just enjoying the action. For those who have been gambling for years but are not really profitable, do you still consider yourself a smart bettor? If yes, what makes you say that?

Smart gambling means making informed decision and making proper research before placing your bet. Additionally a smart gambler should be able to record more winning than losses.
As for me, I don't consider myself a smart gambler because I record more losses than I win.
I really don't gamble for fun but to make profit from gambling, and that is the more reason that each time I loose a bet, I feel very unhappy.
When you are gambling and you are not making profit, I think it is wise to quit if only your decision to quit can be very rigid.

I don't consider myself a smart player, but rather experienced or cautious. I've long since passed all the emotional rollercoasters, so the game is about having a good time while enjoying a simple match. If I even managed to make money, that's great. Lost? No big deal, it wasn't a significant amount. Looking at my gaming history over the past few years, I'm in profit; if I'd realized I was losing money, I would have quit long ago.

Even majority who are lossing money may not necessarily quit if the money they are losing does not significantly affect their other areas of life, the truth it becomes problematic when we are expecting too much from gambling and when it is it not happening we blame the system, being a responsible gambler keeps you on in the game and of course for as long as possible you can only go for a break if it pleases you but quiting hell no because you will surely come back when you feel you are not lossing anything your life is well put together regardless that you are gambling or you a gambler.

Offcourse Yes,  I have to consider myself one , a smart bettor. Because I am not lost amd totally engrossed by the activities of bets. I donot spend ally money in betting activities neither do I borrow to play a bet.
If I was to do all of these i have mentioned above then I'm not a smart bettor.  And any other person who is guilty of excessive bet times and excess money for bet amongs other activities is certainly not a wise better

A smart bettor only gambles with what they can afford to lose. And I am doing that, maybe to claim that I am a smart bettor in that case.

Otherwise, unwise gamblers have been dealt with their emotions and they're not able to control it and the same with their bankroll, they're not considered smart.

Yes, it is true that smart gamblers always gamble as much as they can afford to lose. And they always consider the reality that gambling cannot increase their profit in any way if it is not in luck. Smart gamblers only use gambling for entertainment purposes. And they use their money to enjoy themselves. Especially when there is a game of their favorite club, it is very fun to play there. Again, there are some card games that are very fun, but smart gamblers only gamble for entertainment purposes and if they win, they think of it as a bonus and never try to recover their losses and do not think about the losses a second time.

There are several reasons why I consider myself to be a smart bettor and one of them is the fact that I'm able to manage thr risks involved in my gambling activities and also minimise my risks. A smart bettor is not just about how professional he is or how much his profit is, but that's what you mentioned in that point, I feel he can be considered a smart bettor because he is able to control wisely in gambling including not exceeding the limit.

Excessive betting is what many gamblers sometimes underestimate, so they are often lost to worse gambling activities where they continue to chase losses.

That tells it, if I am not profitable then that means I am not part of the horde of the profitable gamblers which are also smart IMO.
So no need to prove anything to any other gamblers who are also good in gambling that tells themselves they're smart bettors.
Although there's a sense of smart that's left on me that before going to bet, analysis of bets are normal for the sports bettors.

To become a smart gambler is not about displaying your winnings, but whether you are able to exercise self discipline day by day. We need to learn that you have your own limit, the limits that cannot be compromised when you go on using money that you can afford to lose. The handwriting that is conspicuously written in all site that we should gamble with what we can lose is there for a specific reason but most believes it is there because it want to offer restrictions to once gambling activities but without knowing it stands as a warning to all gamlers  not to stake what they can’t lose no matter how sure the game may appear to be because there is know game with 100 percent  accuracy.
 Gambling is one activity that may appear very sure but at  last the unexpected we happen for example,  after bodo Glimt won sporting in the champions league first leg who do you think may believe they will lose in there second leg but it happened, therefore because of this uncertainty is why they advised we should stake with what they can lose

To be a smart bettor is to make a proper budget for your gambling and strictly adhere to it. It is for you to understand what betting truly means and for you to have the ability to take it for what it truly is. It is for you to be smart enough to stop when you rightly should and not exceed your limits or boundaries because you are chasing one loss or the other. Gambling can be tricky and that's what make many people fall for it by getting addicted to it. Not everyone is meant to gamble I do believe sometimes because some people are just too extreme when handling gambling which has caused them serious damage at the end of everything.

If we're that smart our win is meant to supersede our loses, guys if we're smart i think we must have solve the issue of losing. It is not only the consistency or adherence to limits which makes one a smart bettor. An intelligent gambler thinks wisely, knows how to take risks, and is not an emotional gambler as to pour money on a bad horse. Although a person may not be winning all the time, he/she may still be deemed as a smart person by the way he/she manages his/her bankroll and comes to learn with mistakes as time goes. But when it is the poor control and acting impulsively that causes losses, then it is an excuse to call oneself smart. Good judgment and discipline in the long-run are more important than short-term outcome.

Indeed, to be smart bettor is not easy. Many things we should have and learn also understand. Most of us betting for money and fun so we should called ourselves as just a gambler. That is more better for us so no one will expecting our prediction because they see us only a gambler. But out there, I believe smart bettors are exists and not many of them have a high skills than others. But they don't show themselves to many people.

In terms of having gambling skills and experience with the perfect strategy is not enough to call yourself a smart bettor or gambler because it doesn't yield smart results all the time which is having sure wins. Regardless I'll still call myself a smart bettor because I gamble responsibly and that is what matters at the end of the day because I'm smart enough to know that I have no control over my wins so I focus on what I have control over and that is my money and time. My definition of a responsible gambler is using amount that I can afford to loose and deciding how long I'm going to spend in a gamblinng session.

To be honest, there are so many habits around us that waste both time and money that it's hard to figure out which is even more harmful of all this. Just go to if you ask the average person. : Which is worse, drinking beer or betting?
Then he will always answer that betting is bad. In any case, no matter what occupation you name in the first part of the sentence, you will be told that betting is bad.
