Do you consider yourself a smart bettor? In what sense can you say that about yourself, especially if you’re not really winning your bets?

Many of us here have been gambling for years already. If we look at it honestly, some people would probably say it’s stupid to keep gambling if we’re not actually making money from it. Yet we’re still here, still betting, still following games and odds. So can we really call ourselves smart bettors if we’re losing in the long run?

That means all bettoryare stupid then lol.
In a normal day bettors are mathematical made to loose long term. So I will consider smart bettors as the ones who gamble for entertainment

the first thing to understand as a gambler is the important of decision making if you think you want to take gambling as a source of income you will end up regretting because yoy will waste your time, your energy and youf money yet you will not end up winning to recover whet you will lose. The best way is to handle gambling as fun and not get addicted to it cause losing when you don't have the hope of recovery is painful.

I agree with your point about decision making, but it sure doesn’t end in just making decisions, but also extends towards being disciplined enough to stick to the decisions you recently just made, regardless of whatever circumstances may arise in the future. A smart bettor always have a plan and budget in time and bankroll for his gambling activities and gamble with what he can afford to lose and not exceeding his bankroll for any reason.

If you can control yourself and respect the decision you make then as a gambler you wouldn't always enter problems .

Person can rush to make a decision but not be able to abide and do it. When betting, it is usual that person get very depeened in the game that they will loose control of their self and even forget that they made plans and decisions before they started to bet .

Like some gambler will decide that when they get some profits, they will stop.but after get some profit, they will not want to stop because they have gotten so absorbed in the game that they cannot longer stop

Minimizing our losses on gambling is truly considered as smart betting because we consider that there’s a house edge on every bet that we will take.

Well I am a smart bettor and I am confident about that, I have been gambling for long and I haven't bet above my budget, I gamble with the amount I am comfortable with, or I can say I gamble with the amount I can afford to lose. I don't bet aggressively, I don't chase loses as a form of retaliation of multiple loses. I am just just cool with my betting strategy I don't take gambling seriously or want to make wealth out of it, That's why I am confident to say I am smart bettor.

Exactly, any gambler who is able to play with what he or she can afford to lose is a smart bettor anyone who is discipline enough not to be chasing loss whenever they make loss is also a smart bettor, there are so many things that can be used to describe someone who is smart in betting. Someone who is gambling for a livelihood is not a smart bettor because already winning is not certain so why would someone has this mindset.

It's very important as a gambler that we know our stand in the game, however knowing the fact that the house ege is more in an advantage than we the gamblers will helps us to be more safe in our gambling life and even caution us more not to invest more in it.  Their is this friend of mine that has been over hyping himself in my neighborhood barely after securing some few winnings forgetting that luck was actually what made it happen, possibly overwhelmed by it and decide going a bit higher  if he can recover some recent lost. But obviously, the system wasn't twisting words when it started clearly that gamble was unpredictable, and in higher advantage to the house ege.  Behold, this guy's in question lost everything including some cash that was meant for other things that was with him. It's sad, and we must know that gambling is nobody mate, if you want to be in the safer side of the game then learn to stick to rules, always ensure of a discipline mindset in all your gambling activities so you would start having issues in future.

Whom I'll call a smart bettor is someone who have a good money management skill, who knows when to leave and when to continue, who is disciplined enough to stick to their strategies, that's whom I'll call a smart bettor.

Now, the question is, 'Am o a smart bettor?' According to what I have defined above, I'll say yes. But according to what you're describing, I'll say not exactly. You can't judge someone's intelligence by winning a bet. Because on gambling sites, the house edge will ignore your intelligence and beat you. Intelligence is judged based on how much you understand the limits of your control and that is the true manifestation of intelligence. I agree with you, As gamblers, we need to understand that the house edge favors the casino in long run. Winning sometimes can make someone have over Confidence and start believing that they have master gambling, whereas it’s luck that make them to win at that moment. Your friends experience are lesson to us because most people win small amount of money that doesn’t mean that next bet will still favour them. Gambling does not have permanent friend, and chasing losses is one of the fastest way of losing more money and even spend money meant for other important things to gamble. The best way to gamble is to set limit, accept losses when it comes, avoid greed, and never use money that’s meant for other responsibilities to gamble. Discipline and self control is one approach that helps  people to stay away from serious problem in the future.

Smart bettor ? No, I wouldn't call that to myself. For me gambling is not about winning money even though that's an additional bonus if we win.
But it's more about the thrill and fun we have while gambling. Placing the bets and then passing the time while losing money can just be considered as a fee for the game.

When I'm winning, especially at high odds, I feel like a smart bettor, but when I lose, even at low odds, I feel incredibly stupid.
In sports betting, winning and losing are inevitable.
Sometimes, you can get incredibly lucky with a correct prediction, but sometimes, the opposite is also true, because we can only predict, not be sure of the outcome of the match.

I agree that discipline is probably even more important than luck in betting.
