Reason why most people under bet and miss out on big wins

Sometimes ago a friend of mine sent me a game to play because his good at prediction, but mind you despite how good he is , we alway lost but just have few wins

On that faithful day , I tried to fund my wallet, but network was terrible, so I had to use the little money in my wallet  to play it , the next morning he called to ask if I played , I said yes but not with reasonable amount because my network was down , so he said it has boom and he didn’t use big amount on that game because he wasn’t sure of his winning ,I was so shocked because winning days are just few ,
Most people have the funds but they like playing with little cash ,, I know it’s okay to bet with what you can afford to lose , but sometimes is better to level up your staking power so that if it is a win, let it be what can help you achieve one or two things , instead winning small always, when the winning comes.

I think its normal. People who are gambling is fine to used smaller funds cause it is betting and gambling nothing sure of the outocme later on. Since his good at prediction, it wouldnt hurt also to bet on his own skills I guess and even you if you truly trust him then try a bit sometimes.

To answer the question if it does happened to me? Yes thats indeed a very common experience among gamblers. We won but we didnt bet huge. Deym haha youre not alone OP.

Well, the difference is that you are going to lose less if the bet is wrong. While it's also a fact that you may win big when you stake a high amount, it is still scary when you think about the amount you are going to lose.

I think it will all depend on the gambler. A risk-taker will probably do what you said, but a gambler who feels like he cannot lose too much will probably take the other route. We have our own ways of gambling, but let's not forget that we are doing it not because we are trying to gain profit on a daily basis, but we are just trying our luck while we are having fun. Forgetting that could lead to financial chaos.

I think the mindset in OP is wrong in a sense that bets differ per personal needs and income.
If my annual income was a million USD I would consider a 10$ win pennies but for someone else it might be a big win because people have different needs.

So what's a big win to OP might be pennies to me. We should adjust our bets based on what we can afford and to each their own

Yeah, it could be that majority of us here lost in that unforseen circumstances, specially that everything is online, most of the time if we live in a country that there are not good internet connection, we might have missed that opportunity to bet on time, hence not winning big money.

So I guess we can't do anything about it, for me I just think that it's not for me so that I won't feel very dishearten on what happen. Otherwise I might dwell with it and then carry it for the rest of the week, so it's going to be a mental burden and I'm going to be psychologically hurt by it.

There is nothing painful in this scenario, I don't find it good to blame your friend or you also, it just happened that way and that's how it supposed to happen as well.

Once this has happen today, what your friend will be doing is to re-up the staking power but the amount he can afford to loss, never him over stake money he can't afford to loss, that will certainly break him.

Since you said he is good at predictions, the chances of winning amazing amount with the re-up amount will be available, at least multiple trials of that amount will go long way if goes successful.

I’ve said this plenty of times here: I bet purely for fun, so the longer I keep betting, the better it is for me 
So I place a lot of small bets
I only increase my bet when I spot a really good opportunity and see that there’s a good chance of winning, I just go with the odds

It’s not easy to spot those opportunities

The problem is that you don't know ahead when you should level up your staking, and if you follow this strategy indiscriminately it can be fatal to your bankroll.

I've rarely experienced similar situations because my approach is very different: I stake little amounts for very rare outcomes that would pay a lot, taking for granted that I will lose, but because what I find entertaining is the hope of winning big one day, not the actual small profits that aren't sure either.

Why do you consider a winning as heartbroken experience? Regardless of the amount, the most important thing to consider is the outcome which is the win. That’s the only money you can bet that time so it’s what you can afford.

Appreciating all the win including small win will help you to enjoy gambling since you will keep wish to bet big on every win if you don’t appreciate small win that will result for more greedy play.

Op you also have to know the the reason why people gamble with small amount because of fear of losing. Leveling up should be a personal decision for the gambler because nobody knows what will happen in the bet. If I am contented with the little amount win, then let it be. But if want to top up some money to win bigger, I can do that. But if you loss, it will be more painful than the previous play amount. Don't allow greedy to make you loss huge amount.

This is not really something to see as a disappointment; you can just accept the win, Mom. You worked hard, and don't think about the aftermath. If you had staked a higher amount, that feeling alone is what usually pushes some people into taking out loans to increase their stake so that when the game booms, they will be winning something big at once. Or it could be a day when you manage to win more, or a day when you lose more because you believed too much in that bet. Imagine you placed a small amount, and it turned out to be an unlucky day, just another day when your bet lost. What would you think about it? You’d probably think, “It’s good that I didn’t bet much, I only lost a small stake, and it doesn’t really matter.” But if you had lost a large bet, you would regret it much more than you now regret not betting more.

It is not heartbroken for me, it is wise in my own opinion because using small amount of money could help. How about adding more money but making you to remove and add few other matches which can lead to loss instead. It is better he used small amount of money and you also but if you increase the money, you already said that you are losing more than winning, that is how terrible it would be.

I think this would primarily depend on the goal and purpose of the person on why they gamble in the first place.

If the person seeks to experience the high and anxiety of gambling, then I respectfully submit that gambling small amounts may deemed to be sufficient in this case. On the other hand, if your focus is to earn profit/income from your games, then what you mentioned about leveling up your staking power may come into play in this circumstance.

I agree with what you mentioned. Not everyone has the luxury of leveling up their spending power in gambling given that it can quickly skyrocket and snowball into a bigger amount that one cannot relatively handle.

Like you mentioned, gamble according to your means. View it more of as an entertaining habit rather than a venture for income.

From your story, it was a network problem that hindered you from placing your bet, so it's not your fault. Some people also want to bet high, but they have a limited budget. There is no way I would increase my stake beyond the amount I can afford to lose.

I have had several encounters when I would have made more money if I had increased my bets. There are also other situations when I would have lost big if I had increased my bets. The bottom line is just to bet within your financial strength.

Most of the time games that will enter will come wiith a lot of problem and discouragement, sometimes when I predict a game that will enter I won't know but I will began to doubt the possibility of the game and asking myself too many questions and at the end I will use a little amount of money to play and sometimes I won't even have money to use an play it that is always the signs of games that will boom and you will least expect it to enter so it's normal and very common.
