I would like to confirm that mastercoin_foundation is our official new bitcoin user.

This should be the single thread on bitcointalk for Mastercoin (MSC) updates.
Other threads can be found on mastercointalk and the developer Google Group, as well as our blog.

Please do not pm me, use ron@bitcoin.org.il instead

nakaone: You must export your private key from blockchain.info. Then import it to bitcoin-qt by following these directions:

https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/How_to_import_private_keys_v7%2B

After that, head over and grab the Masterchest Windows Wallet: http://www.mastercoinwallets.org

Now, check out the Master Protocol tutorial on how to set it up: http://masterprotocoleducation.org/how-to-install-the-masterchest-windows-wallet/

Hope this helps!

it's replacing the previous thread which only JR could moderate, and it was felt that his time is better spent on working on the protocol rather then moderating trolls Smiley

Mastercoin is not listed in the top 10 today on coinmarketcap.com

This is not because of the price level I don't think ( the price is listed as a question mark )

I assume the price is no longer being reported by whatever exchange was being used.

The price and volume look healthy at masterxchange.com

I posted this at https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=199685.msg6134561#msg6134561

edit:  ... and it's back.  It appears masterxchange was taken down temporarily to fix the SSL/TLS issue.
This resulted in there being no recent volume reported to coinmarketcap and Mastercoin briefly going missing from the top ten.

I read in this article: http://www.forbes.com/sites/kashmirhill/2014/04/08/beyond-bitcoin-crypto-ownership-companies-hope-youre-ready-to-decentralize-everything-on-the-internet/ about maidsafe and that they will have their IPO using mastercoin.
Great stuff!

Although watch out, bitshares wants a piece of the action as well.

We talked with maidsafe today and will be using our Dns system and they will be consulting with us on the economics of their system.

In the end the mastercoin ipo will be insignificant compared to our partnership potential.

Any response to Reggie Middleton's product that was released prior to the MSC exchange?

Any comment on how the entire MSC protocol relies on a resource that could be "forked" out of existence?

These are things that people should understand, if you're committed to being open and transparent.

Got a thread back, nice one
Whats is the reationship between master coin to safe coin?

apart from the fact you can buy safe coins with mastgercoins
what links the two together, does safe coin exist on top of the master protocol?, as i thought that wasn;t the case due to teh way its meant to be used,

Below is an excerpt from https://github.com/maidsafe/Whitepapers/blob/master/Project-Safe.md

7. SAFE Crowd Sale

The crowd sale will be operated as follows:

A fixed number of MaidSafeCoin will be issued during the crowd sale

The sale will last until all coins have been purchased (circa $8million) or 30 days has passed, whatever happens first

Within that period, public funds in the form of bitcoin and mastercoin can be sent to exodus bitcoin address via www.BuySafeCoins.com

Each participant will purchase an intermediary coin, MaidSafeCoin

A quantity of 429,496,729 coins will be available for purchase, this equates to 10% of all safecoins

Early buyer incentives are in place to reward early participation (see chart below)

It is estimated that participants will purchase 17,000 MaidSafeCoins for 1 bitcoin

All purchases and transctions will be recorded on the Bitcoin block chain via the Mastercoin protocol

The deposit of funds in the exodus address will auto generate the appropriate level of MaidSafeCoins, they will be reciepted in the participants mastercoin wallet

Once the full network is launched these will be traded on a 1:1 basis for safecoin

Each participants safecoin wallet will be credited as the full network is launched and they create their SAFE network accounts

In the event that not all coins are sold, the remaining coins will be burned

All details are available at www.safecoin.io

</excerpt>

How could the MaidSafeCoin be recorded via the Mastercoin protocol?  There is no 'user currency' feature yet.
Instead they are using a Mastercoin-style fundraiser.  They are going to announce their 'exodus address' on 22-April.
There will apparently be a separate 'exodus address' if you wish to send Mastercoin instead of bitcoin.

Hmmm an IPO that values itself as a quarter of bitcoins market cap or over $1billion at IPO stage interesting hahahhahahahahahaha

i think you have your maths muddled by a factor of 10

(1BTC/17000 ) x 4bil = 235200BTC x $425 - approx $100 mil

100 milion dollars

If you compare its innovation to something like angry birds which is valued at a few Bil, and is a brain dead app, its doesn't seem to bad, the code is supposedly patented (correct me if i am wrong), so it can;t be ripped off either

My mistake, yes you are correct, but I feel you are very muddled with the relevance of comparing this IPO to the epicly successful games developer Rovio!!!

A $100m IPO for something in development still seems horrendous IMO!
