I would have zero issues with swaps involving BTC taking an hour or two, we had 2 blocks in 3 hours 3 days ago

I had to wait a long time yesterday for my BTC transaction to confirm.. the first confirmation took 20+ minutes and the second another 30 minutes.. but after that, the exchange on Dex.Fo was really fast.

Maybe I was just unlucky.. it looks like the network is processing blocks normally right now.. let's wait and see what happens when the BIP-100 kicks in.. recently a Bitcoin dev recomended avoiding transactions during this period: https://x.com/jonatack/status/2071650771028918682

Unless you are in a hurry to spend the funds, long time for confirmations is not a problem at all.

Even with a  zero confirmation transaction you can rest assured that the coins will arrive at your wallet, as the exchange already sent them..

When it comes to genuine exchanges like Dex.fo then it makes sense to wait sometime to get the funds. Since sometimes network can be congested and that means a transaction will take some time but most probably those transactions get completed on time.

Only in few cases, transactions can take sometime, in most cases they get completed in short time. For Bitcoin transactions one has to wait at least 10-40 minutes as that's the most probable time frame to have confirmations if network isn't congested.

...

Interesting point, it's something that must keep in mind using exchanges and third party wallet.
Just because they can accept deposit ONLY with a specific timeframe or they accept deposit with a specific change of USD/BTC.
Best option (peace of mind Grin ) use a wallet and keep it all easy.

20 minutes for a block is unfortunately not that rare, just last month we had an average of 14 minutes distance between blocks, average for the whole day!
And as I type right now, there are 37 minutes from block 959426, this after 4 blocks were mined in just 8 minutes!  Wink

Maybe I was just unlucky.. it looks like the network is processing blocks normally right now.. let's wait and see what happens when the BIP-100 kicks in..

I'm pretty sure you mean BIP-110 and no it won't kick anything but the bucket!
It will be a nothingburger, plus normal transactions will not be affected even if somehow magically that chain gets the most hashrate.

Yes, decentralized exchanges can be used from anywhere in the world, and similarly no KYC instant exchanges can be used by anyone from any part of the world without any kind of restrictions. I think for such data it's always better to read posts in this forum because here users are very smart and they know everything about such services and they can explain those things in way better words so others can understand those without any issues.

When it comes to AI, then still we can't trust it fully because sometimes it gives wrong information, however I must say that nowadays AI is much better than it used to be in past. Those who use services like Dex.fo know better that privacy is a very important thing, and they'll always prefer to use instant exchanges over those KYC exchanges.
Yep, we can't trust AI results either. Even if we are using an advanced AI model which gives us the result after taking some time to do thorough research, it will still show us exchanges that are famous and have been in the market for quite some time. I won't name them, but if you have AI, you can check.

The problem with this is that some of them, or most of them, are not really no KYC or no AML. They eventually raise flags. So from a newbie perspective, it can be hard. They will eventually look for directories like KYCnot, Bitlist, etc. These directory sites are a better option than AI.

From what I’ve observed, this happens quite often. I’m referring to situations where, on the BTC blockchain, several blocks in a row can be confirmed in literally just a few minutes, and then there’s a lull, and the next block might be confirmed with a fairly long delay. Okay, if it’s 30 minutes, but sometimes blocks aren’t confirmed for 50 minutes, and sometimes even over an hour. When making a transaction, such prolonged delays in block confirmation can certainly be very frustrating, especially if you initially expect the transaction to be completed quickly.

The AI models are too biased with government rules and legality

If you ask about no KYC or no AML they will answer this is bad because it will allow money laundering and crime, so the model will recommend bad services that have KYC and freeze coins. They do not respect privacy and it is a bad idea to get suggestions from them

For good suggestions you have bitcointalk where you can create a topic and get recommendations Grin Grin

Not only newbies but even the professionals check sites like KYCNOT and BitList, to find genuine no KYC services. Since, those AI models are limited in research, they can't tell exactly about the platforms, to be honest, they're not trained that way, that's why it becomes harder for them to find exchanges that doesn't require KYC. It'll be a tough job for any AI model to even know about instant exchange Dex.fo. Yes, if someone asks it then it will search this Bitcointalk announcement thread, and other sources, but in most cases it won't be able to tell much details about it other than what's already shared here.

You could also look at it on the flip side... One day you will need $200 but will receive $210 when making an exchange because the BTC price has moved upwards  Wink
Usually, knowing that sometimes the block confirmation times are delayed, I try to ensure I spend BTC much earlier than anticipated and not wait for the last minute transactions. The good thing these days is that even at a free rate 1-2 sats/vbyte, it's considered optimal or high priority for the next block confirmation.

These are still young and 'unknown' platforms. They have very little influence on users outside of the Bitcointalk forum and are therefore not sufficiently recognized by AI. Whether we want to admit it or not, currently the most popular and well-known instant exchanges are FF, Changenow... And AI models recognize them and generate results based on their rules.
Also, the site must allow AI bots to read information from them

After that BTC - LTC swap that took lesser time to complete, I did another swap from ltc to usdt and it took longer time. I am yet to understand whether the selected pair of swap has anything to do with the swap time.
Please also share how long your LTC to USDT swap took. Did it take longer than usual for your swap to complete? In my case, I also couldn't completely understand what actually happened, but I will ask the representative of Dex.Fo about why it took longer than normal and what the actual reason is for taking this much time.
I could not track the time. Network confirmation took way longer than it should, as well as the exchange's own. I am making another swap today, i'll track that appropriately.

So from a newbie perspective, it can be hard. They will eventually look for directories like KYCnot, Bitlist, etc. These directory sites are a better option than AI.

Directories like BitList and co are perfect for forum users like us. This is because they give us results and they are always updated with the current information be it scam or something else. If it works, there's no need asking AI or search for more when we have a whole lot of options in the directories.

AI will give good answers only if you ask well. But there's no need using AI to search for no kyc CEXs or DEXs or mixers when we have services that provides such information for us.

Unless you are in a hurry to spend the funds, long time for confirmations is not a problem at all.

Even with a  zero confirmation transaction you can rest assured that the coins will arrive at your wallet, as the exchange already sent them..
Don't forget that we also provide a guarantee through letters of guarantee.  Smiley

I exchanged Litecoins, if you set the commission a little higher to guarantee that it will be included in the next block, the exchange goes very quickly.

There are no full blocks with Litecoin, so you can make an approximation.
The block time of the block previous to your confirmation and the block time in which you received the funds from dex.fo.
It will be off by ~something, but you can get an idea.
Also, if you have saved your letter of guarantee (which should be must for everyone) you can also get an approximate time from the file creation date.

Anyhow, I think that unless you're crazy unlucky and you send x10k sums just as the crash of the year happens, this probably is a non-issue for most users.

Did you do today's swap with LTC or did you exchange another coin? The things are not clear to me in any way because it should never take this much time for the blocks to complete.

Directories like BitList and co are perfect for forum users like us. This is because they give us results and they are always updated with the current information be it scam or something else. If it works, there's no need asking AI or search for more when we have a whole lot of options in the directories.
This is enough for the forum users but when users from outside want to know about the (Dex.Fo) platform, if they do not get proper information then the users will be demotivated. At present, as technology is moving forward, new users mostly try to verify information by using (AI) and this has now become a normal thing. Overall, I think attention should also be given so that customers can get correct information about the platform by using any medium outside the forum as well.

The only real explanation would...well..say that the other way around would be normal.
I would have zero issues with swaps involving BTC taking an hour or two, we had 2 blocks in 3 hours 3 days ago, which would put the confirmation time alone past the normal exchange time.
For LTC/USDT, which are faster coins/tokens with no congestion problems whatsoever lately, you could probably pin this on the liquidity pools and their own settings.

I could not track the time. Network confirmation took way longer than it should, as well as the exchange's own. I am making another swap today, i'll track that appropriately.

Thanks for clarification, i initially misunderstood "there are no full blocks with Litecoin..."as Litecoin not having a measurable block timing.  But i now understood what you meant - Litecoin blocks are rarely saturated or congested, making it difficult to estimate delays from the mempool congestion.

Thanks for also reminding me to always save the letter of guarantee. I think I have been making a mistake, I only save the LoG when dealing with mixers.

I exchanged Litecoins, if you set the commission a little higher to guarantee that it will be included in the next block, the exchange goes very quickly.
That's the best to do. It will save the day. I even wanted to perform RBF but I didn't mark the coin as replaceable from the initial.

AI will give good answers only if you ask well. But there's no need using AI to search for no kyc CEXs or DEXs or mixers when we have services that provides such information for us.
I agree, BitList is the best option for anyone to find those genuine services, I personally check genuine services and their exact domain names via BitList mostly and to be honest, it has helped me a lot in finding URLs of genuine services.

I believe it's the best directory to find any legit service, the best thing about BitList is that users can leave their honest feedback about a service, such feedback can help others. The users who left their feedback at BitList are mostly from this forum, who're knowledgeable members and who provide their honest feedback as a review on service page at BitList.

Personally, I will never waste even a second with AI because I know there's a platform to find all genuine websites, I just use BitList instead of using any AI to find such no KYC services.
