Three games today:
Bodo/Glimt advanced to the league phase at the expense of Dutch NEC. This is not a surprise as they had a 3-1 advantage from the 1st leg, when they played away. Today they played at home and they added another 3 goals to the aggregate account, giving NEC no chance.
Another team going through is Azerbaijani Sabah, who eliminated Hapoel Beer-Sheva. The first game ended up with 2-1 for the Israeli team, but today Sabah got on a higher level and they won 5-2, meaning they are going through on a 6-4 aggregate score.
In the 3rd game of today, Celtic wasted their 3-0 advantage. Actually, they scored the first goal, so were 4-0 up on the aggregate, but allowed LASK to equalise and now we're going through extra time. LASK surely have a mental boost from coming back from being 4 goals down. LASK scored another one and we're just waiting for the 2nd half of the extra time, but things are looking really bad for Celtic.

Bodo is slowly but surely catching up. We can say that Bodo is a nightmare for the big teams. They won the first match 3-1 and the return match 3-0 without conceding a goal. NEC Nijmegen's goalkeeper made a huge mistake; he came out of his goal and handled the ball, and the referee showed no mercy. Bodo might have shown mercy because there was plenty of time left, they scored three goals and looked ahead.

Not really surprised that Sabah Baku qualified for the league stage of the Champions League.
Since they beat KuPS I had them on my shortlist - but somehow still didn't back them for whatever reason Cheesy

Also have no idea why or how Celtic got battered so hard in Austria.

Sabah first forced the match into extra time with a goal in the 90+4th minute, then scored two more goals during the extra periods to advance to the next round.
Hapoel Be'er Sheva finished the extra-time period with nine men.

The team that surprised me the most was Celtic. Despite winning the first leg 3-0 at home and taking a 1-0 lead in the return leg, they couldn't prevent the match from going to extra time after conceding a goal in the 90th minute.
I had thought Celtic would advance in extra time, but LASK Linz scored a goal and went through instead. It might not have been a massive shock, but I still consider it a surprising result.

I hope Fenerbahçe pulls off a surprise today as well. Even though Lyon is the favorite, I would like to see Fenerbahçe advance.
Asensio and Kerem will not be on the pitch. İsmail Kartal stated that they wouldn't feel the absence of the missing players; I hope everything turns out exactly as he said.

Bodø/Glimt has been one of the most impressive teams of recent years. They had already secured their spot in the next round by defeating NEC Nijmegen away in the first leg.
Yesterday's match was essentially a formality.
An early error by the NEC goalkeeper made things even easier for Bodø. Bodø/Glimt extended their lead to 2-0 in the closing minutes of the first half but played a very relaxed game in the second.
They managed to score one more goal in the second half, winning the match 3-0. The Bodø players advanced to the next round without overexerting themselves.

I am pleased that we will get to watch Bodø/Glimt in the league phase.

Today, four final second-leg matches of the Champions League qualifying play-off round are scheduled:

Celje (Slovenia) — Slovan Bratislava (Slovakia)
Viking (Norway) — Dinamo Zagreb (Croatia)
AEK (Greece) — Levski (Bulgaria)
Lyon (France) — Fenerbahce (Turkey)

The results of these matches will determine the final teams to qualify for the league phase. All four ties are in an interesting and very rare situation: every first leg ended in a draw. So now, the teams need a win to qualify for the Champions League league phase.

Yesterday in the Champions League, Celtic did something completely baffling. After a crushing 3-0 home win, they managed to lose 4-1 away. But that's Celtic, and at least there were a lot of goals, at least some things were predictable. Today Lyon plays Fenerbahce at home, they played well away, didn't lose and I think they should win at home. Dinamo Zagreb has another match in Norway, against Viking. And unfortunately, they couldn't beat Viking at home so, it will be even more difficult to do so away, but I expect Dinamo Zagreb to score. I think it's possible to take Dinamo Zagreb's individual total over 1.

This is another opportunity for Hull City to play in the Premier League, i see them as a club that will not be returning to the Championship by the end of this season, i think they will preserve a spot out of the 17 clubs that will remain after the 3 relegated teams.

All I am saying is we are ready to watch Hull City do their thing, their performance was peak, and with consistency, they can end the season within the top 10 in their first return to the Premier League after so many years, the kind of toughness we want to see in the league.

Who knows, it would be a really nice surprise to see a newly promoted team like theirs stay in the Premier League. However, a 2-0 victory over Manchester United is certainly a great way to start and three truly fundamental points that have been taken. We'll have to see with other teams how they approach the match.
However, there must certainly be a reason why they were promoted to the Premier League.

For me Alonso is not really the problem, like I mentioned earlier that the board, the management are one of the problems Chelsea are facing because they are not that good at doing business that will favor the club, signing players that the manager doesn't want (it could be). Alonso is a good coach and the players need to display something better this season if not they might spoil his plans to elevate them, like the players these days hardly enjoy the game at the club, less winning and more disappointment to themselves a d the fans, something need to change.

The owner of Chelsea has a bit of the same mentality that the owner of Paris Saint-Germain had when he just arrived. He believes that by buying the strongest players the best result can be achieved, but this is not always the case. Very often the result is a lie. In fact, with the purchase of very expensive players, he had achieved nothing, just a team that needed to be completely rebuilt.
Because a player is not strong based on his market value if the team around him does not allow him to perform at his best.

The truth is that I don’t even know if this team called Sabah Baku, I was going through some Champions League matches results, and I saw this team called Sabah Baku, they immediately caught my attention, because I have never seen them in the Champions League before, I had to check to see the Country League they play and it was the Azerbaijan League.

Anyways I have some other teams I’m interested to see in the League Stages of the Champions League, teams like Sofia, and Vikings, I don’t think I have seen this teams in the Champions League before.

I would really like to see new clubs in the Champions League.

Every home team has a good advantage going into the second leg. Will they all go through? I don't think so. We’ve had many surprises this season in the UCL qualifiers, and we will have one or two tonight. I would bet on Dinamo and Slovan tonight to pull off a shock away from home.

By the way, LASK missed a penalty in the second extra time making the situation even worse for Celtic. From 4 goals advantage on aggregate to taking 5 goals without even going through penalties. Sometimes I wonder if Celtic did that intentionally to pass to Europa League and advance more there, potentially..

I can understand your disappointment, but don't be pessimistic just yet, because there are still 37 matches left in the EPL. Besides, Carrick won't let his team keep performing like this, as they will be competing against other elite clubs in the UCL.

Obviously we need to give a team time to re-approach the championship, we cannot expect judgments to be made on a team after just one match. However, we must give him the opportunity to regain the right confidence and trust. It's normal to have a bad start if you lose to a newly promoted team, especially if you have high expectations at home like those of United.

I watched the highlights of the Bodo match. The goalkeeper was very unlucky in the incident that led to his red card; he was devastated by it, but the rules dictated a sending-off. The substitute goalkeeper played very well, too. He denied several scoring chances—especially in the first half—but was left helpless during the plays that unfolded in stoppage time, allowing Bodo to go into the break leading 2-0.

It must also be clearly stated that even if NEC hadn't been reduced to ten men, Bodo would still have won quite comfortably.
In the second half, Bodo took the field with the confidence of their 2-0 lead; they scored another goal to win the match 3-0 and secured their place in the league phase.
Bodo will be in Pot 3 for the draw.

Today, another Norwegian team, Viking, will be in action. The first leg ended 2-2. If Viking wins today, it might well be the first time ever that two Norwegian teams compete in the Champions League in the same season.

Man united may still not struggle this season as we can't use because they lost to a newly promoted club 2-0 to determine what will happen to them, in a tournament i have seen where a club that lost there first match later end up winning the title, though am not saying that Man united is going to win the premier league or any title this season because they lost there first match but they could still be one of best team this season in the premier league despite losing to Hull.

It is true that this is only the first match of the championship, but it is also the springboard to start in the best possible way and immediately losing three points against a newly promoted team is certainly not a good look for Manchester United. In my opinion he will struggle again this year because i believe he has not yet solved all his internal problems.

Celtic must have been thinking that there first 3:0 win to Lask will become a discouragement to the club that they will not gather there momentum against them on the second match but unfortunately for the club, all the Lask goals came at them as a surprise because they couldn't believe it, although it was from when Lask was beginning to peak that Celtic coach should have change there formation so that Lask will not score more than 3 goals. Meanwhile i also see Lyon as the team that would win Fenerbahce as they couldn't do it on there last away performance.

The first teams to advance in the Champions League will be determined today.
The most critical match is the one between Sabah and Hapoel Be'er Sheva, as Be'er Sheva won the first leg; Sabah needs to secure a victory in this match.
As for the other two ties, I believe the teams that will advance are already effectively decided, though we must wait for today's matches to conclude to make it official.
Bodø/Glimt won the first leg and will likely win today as well.
Celtic won the first leg, and I do not expect them to lose today.

Celtic and Bodø will most likely feature in the Champions League.
It will be a real pleasure to watch Bodø/Glimt this year.
They lost their striker, Högh, but they are still playing excellent football as a team.

Celtic and Bodø/Glimt are teams that in most cases always pass the qualifying rounds of the various competitions. Both Celtic and Bodø/Glimt are teams that make the difference in their respective leagues. As seen last year in the Champions League, Bodø/Glimt is a team that can easily face much higher level teams without problems. So i expect them to pass by.

Alonso is just coming and why will anyone even think that, he is the problem, he came to rebuild the club and that is if they will allow him to do that, you are very observant, the management of Chelsea is the problem of the club, I just miss the the former owner of Chelsea, we are watching, although i believe that Xabi will do his very best, he is a good manager, but their first match with Fulham in the English premier League was not really good, their performance was poor, the signs are their, there was much lapses, it was too obvious that there are somethings lacking in the team, Chelsea need more of experienced players, the decision of the players to buy, should be more of the concern and the preference of the coach, because he knows the position lacking and where any player will fit in.

Oh, thanks but if thats the main season then that raises even bigger questions. For sure I know the Hull players will definitely have this high morale playing forward in the league because even if I banter Man United some times, they are still, you know, Man United, and beating them especially at the beginning of the league is something and I know for sure the Man U players will definitely have this pressure on them to performance better in their next match especially Maguire, his memes are all over X following the match.

Manchester United can be said to have lost a match they couldn't have lost. The championship opener against a newly promoted team is embarrassing in terms of journalism and the pressure that is put on you by social media.
I don't even want to blame Karrick, because he is a coach who requested some players that were not given to him by the club. So i continue to think that the club is not rowing in the same direction as the team.

today we have fenerbahçe’s away game against lyon. in my opinion, this was the most intriguing matchup of the playoffs. i also think this is the most-watched game worldwide, but yesterday’s games ended with such surprising results that attention suddenly shifted to those matches.

lyon is the favorite in today’s match because they managed to draw on the road and hold the advantage in the champions league race, but fenerbahçe shouldn’t be underestimated. they’re just one win away from qualifying for the champions league, which they haven’t been able to do for years. i think it’s going to be a great match.
