This defensive pattern of play is actually what cost arsenal the champions League. Arteta has been playing defensive game , though the defensive pattern has actually worked for them by winning them the premier League but continues with that pattern of play to champions league final was a big mistake especially when there opponent was PSG. For the beginning of the season they were dominant but we also can't close our eyes that at the end of the season they were too cautious and only made defensive schemes as their safest way to get results.
This is still quite good because their defense is quite solid but the transition from a dynamic attacking pattern since the beginning of the season is inversely proportional to what they did at the end of the season and Arteta using a scheme that is quite risky like this for me is not very good if done every season.

They lost the final with only 28 percent possession even though the game went to penalties but this statistic shows that Arteta made the situation safe when they could have done a scheme that could have changed the result if the performance was the same as they did at the beginning of the season.

I think it’s only Pep Guardiola of recent time that actually did a double of both the premier league and the champions league in the season they did the treble, the last time again was actually the treble winning side of Manchester United in 2008. Even Jurgen Kloop who was has won both for Liverpool couldn’t win it in the same season. So for me I don’t think it’s a set back actually for the gunners, they were brilliant but let’s be honest the Squad lacked that depth to actually compete against clubs like PSG.

For me I think Arsenal fans needs to be relaxed because Arteta has actually had a greater season than his previous one, so if we take this into this account, then we should be expecting that they will get to the final again and then win it.

You guys should not be deceived about Arsenal going far in the season champions league, let me tell you guys next season Arsenal won't survive round 16 ok you guys should forget they won Premier league last season. The premier League is highly competitive which is why it can't be dominated by a single team un like in the french ligue 1 and the bundesliga where psg and Bayern Munich have been dominating for decade..This kind of thing can't happen in the premier league ,the fact that arsenal has won it last season doesn't mean they will win it in the upcoming season. Yes, Arsenal is indeed great at retaining coaches. There are times when a coach needs time to develop strategies and so on. Off course something like this is supposed or meant to lift someone or a team spirit which I believe Arsenal spirit is already lifted because of the trophy they won last season. But assuming Arsenal didn't win the trophy last season I'm pretty sure their spirit would have been so down and there won't be any motivation for them but winning always makes people want to do more.
