There are many interesting matches and bets for me to place. Especially for the big games Arsenal vs Real Madrid, Man City vs Barcelona and many more that almost all big teams meet in this phase. There is even a chance that some teams will have difficulties. Man United is one of those teams where against almost 7 clubs are in the category of difficult opponents.

yeah. there are pretty good matches. btw Arsenal's probability of winning Champions League this year is almost the same as PSG's. i'm not the one saying it, the British media and experts are Smiley lets see.

I think the easiest draw among Pot 1 teams belongs to Liverpool. They can beat Atletico Madrid home and Inter away both. Actually exactly that happened last season as far as I remember.  Grin
It won’t be that easy. Atletico Madrid have always had a very solid defense that can make it difficult for any team to score. They also usually have a very fast counterattacking strategy.

As for facing Inter Milan, that will be an even more difficult challenge for Liverpool. Last season, Liverpool did manage to win away against Inter, but it was a fortunate victory with a narrow scoreline, and Liverpool were also awarded a penalty during the match.

So, this season will be very different from the previous one.

50:50 to measure the strength of Lyon and Fenerbahce. Because Lyon played in front of the public themselves against Fenerbahce in leg 2, from 50:50 it changed to 60:40 or only up 5 (55:45). Why this number, because in my opinion Lyon's chances of winning are not big considering Fenerbahce's target which requires them to draw in Turkiye in the first leg is a strong reason even though Lyon this time has the x factor in France.
Another match that played leg 2 at the same time as Lyon-Fenerbahce was not as interesting as the match between Dinamo Zagreb and 3 others even though they both achieved a draw in leg 1.

The match between Lyon and Fenerbahce was an important match for both teams, so both teams competed on the pitch with a little more awareness of what they could risk. Fenerbahce pushed hard during the match, scoring two goals, Lyon did everything they could to withstand the pressure but they didn't have the strength to hold on and come back.

Manchester city won't do well with maresca in the champions league and the signs are already evidence as it stands now. If things will change, he's got a couple of time to build his team right from the premier league but even at that, playing In the premier league for the sake of winning it is still the ultimate goal and dude can't focus on one at the negligence of another if he wants the right result for city. Facing PSG and Barca is already distabilizing for his career because the odds of him winning those kind of games is actually small.

Manchester City are not going through a good moment, it's also because they have a new manager. We shouldn't doubt Maresca already, they must give him time to work and he will be able to improve. The team is built to win the Premier League and also fight for the Champions League. We'll see what happens when he meets the strongest teams, we need to have a little confidence.
Manchester City have tough games with Barcelona, PSG, Napoli and even teams like Porto or Sporting can surprise. Maresca certainly has the advantage of having reduced some players leaving more stable players on the pitch. As for their chances at UCL, I'm personally quite sceptical and can't expect much, at a minimum they can get through to the top 8.

It's really interesting to see the opponents that Man City will face in the UCL this season because they will go up against some of their former players. At Napoli, there's De Bruyne, at Barcelona there's Rodry, and at PSG there's Ferran Torres. But yeah it seems like Man City will have a hard time competing in the UCL this season, especially since they're not like before, now coached by the new coach, Maresca and many key players have already left. So I think Maresca this season doesn't expect too much in the UCL because his focus is still on the EPL competition, which remains the priority.

But if you look at the results of this UCL draw you could say it's really interesting, and it’s even a mental test for all the favorite teams. Arsenal will face Madrid and Bayern. Man City and Villa both face PSG and Barcelona. Man United will go up against Bayern and Atlético Madrid, while Liverpool seems to have it easiest since they got opponents that aren’t as tough as the other teams. It’s going to be interesting to see which teams will make it to the top 8 without having to go through the playoffs.

if this score remains unchanged, fenerbahçe will qualify for the champions league for the first time in nearly 20 years.

Lyon certainly did not approach the match in the best way, while Fenerbahce, perhaps due to the new players who have greater European experience, were able to give the match the right emphasis from the start. Even though the hosts certainly weren't discouraged, scoring the goal in the 61st minute, trying everything for everything.

They may not have to play a very tough match against Napoli. The toughest matches for Manchester City are against Barcelona and PSG. Napoli's recent form is not very good and this match will be at City's home ground, so City will not need to take much pressure. Even if they play a home match against PSG, the home advantage may not be very effective, because PSG is a very tough team. The chances of City winning at Barcelona's home ground are very low.

I would like to put two matches on the list of exciting matches in the first week of the Champions League.
  • Real Madrid vs Inter Milan
  • Napoli vs Arsenal
From my point of view, these two matches are going to be the most exciting in the first round, it is difficult to predict the results. Moreover, the Liverpool vs Atletico Madrid match is also likely to be exciting. But I will not enjoy this match too much, I do not think the match will be exciting.

You have just listed two out of eight games and I will say they are possible of 18 points left even if you lose that two games. The group stage matches are usually not that taken as high stake games by this top clubs like they do in the knockout stages. I watched the likes of sporting taking points off PSG last season and if sporting can pull that off then I think this same Galatasaray can do that. Since this format of the champions league started it is actually hard to predict the outcome of the 24 teams to qualify. I have some hopes for this supposed small clubs because I think they can upset in some games.

Of course, absolutely, but then there are many things to consider, for example against who will play at home and against who away, because in any case the help of the public can make the difference, whether Barcelona wants to make a turnover in a match or not. So i wouldn't consider Galatasaray defeated. These are certainly difficult matches, but anything is possible anyway.

A huge success for Fenerbahce. They eliminated Olympique Lyon despite playing away. The first game ended  with a 1-1 draw, but the rematch belong to the Turkish club. They stunned OL with two goals within the first half an hour, something OL were not able to recover from.

In other games of today:
AEK defeated Levski Sofia 4-0 on aggregate
Viking proved to be better than Dinamo Zgreb (5-3 aggregate)
And we have extra time going on in Celje Vs Slovan Bratislava. Slovan is up by one goal and have one man advantage due to a red card to Celje.

I have to say that Fenerbahce's victory is not particularly a surprise.
This year the club has really worked hard to guarantee the coach a respectable team that can also compete in the championship. So he will certainly be able to do very well, a fair result beyond everything.
positive outlook for them.

Galatasaray are done for man, we are done for... It's such an unlucky draw for us. Playing against Barcelona and PSG is like the worst Pot 1 draw! I don't know if we can collect any point from even one of these games.

Even the rest of the draw isn't that favourable for us.    We had a better draw last year. I just hope we don't mess up in the games that we have a real chance of winning. As long as we finish in top 24, I'm okay with it.

Let's say that no team would want to have Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain in the same group, because obviously they are teams in a different category. They are teams used to building the game, having a lot of ball possession and making as many chances as possible. Therefore they will certainly be two very complicated matches.

Maresca would learn quickly with his desired tactical play this season, and his biggest trouble with his players would be their ability of adapting to his directives pertaining to Rodri's absence in the midfield. Mareca's sudden decision over the club's midfield powerhouse opened a slot for attacks to assume more responsibilities. Haaland for instance, won't stay too long in the enemy position, he'd have to help out in the work happening in the midfield, until somebody else or a joined set of players are capable of bringing back the defensive assurance the former No.6 gave to his teammates. This change of his would relieve oppositions some relieve of playing City without Rodri, and the ability to observe if they'll be capable of defeating his new techniques.

I congratulate Fenerbahçe. After 18 years, they have qualified for the Champions League and made us proud.

For the first time, two Turkish teams will be competing in the Champions League.

Fenerbahçe played very well tonight and deserved the victory. They came away from their away match against Lyon with a win.

Surely all the Turkish people who support Fenerbahçe will have jumped for joy at returning to a much desired competition like the Champions League, especially if so much time has passed. Fenerbahçe can finally compete for something more again, the real question is "will they be ready to manage 2 competitions?".

Of course, 18 years isn't a short time it's quite a long time, so I think all Turkish people would support Fenerbahçe because they represent Turkey.

Seeing Fenerbahçe struggle to make it to the UCL in such an impressive way, they really deserved to qualify. They went to Lyon's home ground with a 1–1 aggregate, but Fenerbahce didn’t give up, and they managed to boost their spirit. Lyon kept putting pressure to try to narrow the gap, but Fenerbahçe quite solid defense made it hard for Lyon to catch up. Fenerbahçe qualified with a 2–3 aggregate, and that long wait finally came to an end.

If you're asking whether Fenerbahce will deliver surprises in this season's UCL or whether Fenerbahce can manage two competitions, I think it's definitely possible. Especially with a squad featuring players like Muriqi, Greenwood, Kante, Guendouzi, Ake, and Lukaku, I think Fenerbahce can do a lot on the UCL stage this season.

Looking at the fixtures of my team Galatasaray, I can't say I'm happy with the first 2 matches.  Tongue  Sporting away is a tough one. I'm nervous about one thing here. I hope it doesn't finish like the one played against Frankfurt last year...

Right after that we are playing against Barcelona. At least it's at home but this isn't enough to be relieved so much of course. I'm glad that the PSG one is the last fixture. Because if we played it and got demolished earlier than our players would be really demoralized.

Fenerbahçe has qualified for the Champions League after an 18-year hiatus. The key factors behind this success were proper squad building and the appointment of the right manager.
Fenerbahçe put in a magnificent performance today.
Beating Lyon here was no easy task; however, thanks to two quick, consecutive goals, we finished the first half with a 2-0 lead.

We will enter the league phase from Pot 3.

There is currently talk of a potential Rashford transfer; our participation in the Champions League will make it easier to secure new signings.

We will be represented by two teams in the league.

When the score was 1-2, a second goal scored by Lyon was disallowed following a VAR review.
I saw Fenerbahçe fans experiencing happiness again after all this time.

I can't say that Fenerbahce will finish very high in the Champions League, but given the coach they have and the quality of the team put together, we can deduce that they will certainly play at least an excellent season in Turkey and who knows, maybe even in Europe if they find a favorable group.

Maresca is facing a tough and difficult start in the champions league, he'd be heading on to play Barca after PSG, I desire to see Rodri in action against his former club. Frankly, the start of the league is scheduled to look like the knockout stage, more like a continuation of the previous season's final eight, some big clubs if care is not taken won't make it to the round of 16.

The Manchester City of the new coach Maresca will face Barcelona, who have just purchased their former player Rodri, who will immediately challenge his former team.
However, i hope that Maresca can manage to play that match, because he deserves it after the many losses in the squad.

It's fair to assume that they won't finish high, haha. I mean in what world (in the KO stage) would they beat Real Madrid, Barca, Arsenal, Man City, Bayern, PSG and several other teams in a 2 game knockout matchup? Maybe they could win 1 game by the smallest margin just to get blown out in the other one. Turkish football at the moment is nothing the big teams need to worry about, 18 years not playing in the UCL is a big testament of that.

Enzo Maresca is not on the fence with his job as Manchester City manager, so I assume he will be able to be there when they take on Barcelona. Rodri will immediately reunite with his old teammates, but this time as an opponent, and it will certainly be exciting for him. And I strongly believe that Barcelona will win this match

Yes, they are very difficult but necessary matches. The first rounds of this new UCL format are impressive; I like it. In fact, this format would be ideal for a World Cup. However, what's being done now leaves the weaker teams with a lot of power simply because every match has to be won that is, every match should be like a final. That's what I like about it.

City has a great challenge ahead, as a PSG and a Barcelona on the rise offer a real test of their mettle. Furthermore, the emotions they will generate are something unique.

The odds (by 1win) for the outright winner are in and are as follows:

They are sorted in alphabetical order, not by order of odds, but the top 5 favourites are:
PSG x6.0
Arsenal x7.0
Bayern x7.0
Barcelona x7.0
Real Madrid x7.5

so no surprises at the top.

Do you guys see any potential dark horses here? i.e. any club with odds of at least x30 that would have say more than 5% chance of winning? Inter is looking fairly good. They look like they could be a bit underrated.
