This is the path Singapore has taken. Lee Kuan Yew’s rule can be described as authoritarian during the period when the country and its economy were stabilizing and undergoing restructuring. But later, he stepped down from power, although he remained a significant figure in politics for some time, he no longer held actual power. Furthermore, Singapore had no overt enemies or aggressors, which allowed it to spend decades building a wonderful country.
Yes, exactly this example is what I was referring to. Here, Singapore proves that such a thing is possible in reality, and not just in theory. And that is why it is very important to pay attention to real historical evidence. After all, it is what inspires us to strive for such things, rather than simply describing on paper some utopian options that are impossible to achieve. There is one nuance to the example of Singapore. It is a nuance of SCALE - in this case, the scale of the country. At the start of its reforms, Singapore had a population of less than 2 million, and it was a territory that could be crossed by car in an hour... Singapore is essentially a compact metropolis, if we compare it, for example, to our country, Singapore is smaller in every respect than Kyiv alone. Plus, Ukraine (let’s take it as an example) has a decentralized system of government, diverse regions, a lack of readiness for authoritarianism, a more complex economic model, and many other differences that greatly complicate the replication of the Singapore model, or even make it impossible... Yes, the size of a country matters enormously. Small countries are easier to manage, their population is more homogeneous (usually), and certain initiatives are implemented there much faster. With large states, the problem is not solved by decentralization alone. On such a scale, it is simply unrealistic to track where everything is happening, and the risks of corruption and lack of professionalism increase. And it is very difficult to implement any common ideas and solutions that would be shared by all strata of the population in different regions.

The OP has approached the issue entirely from a political perspective, but I don’t agree with that. Not everything can be explained by government corruption. In fact, if we were to say that, we’d be calling it a “theory of everything.” Government corruption is not a “theory of everything.”
Even if you were an honorable leader, if chaos reigns in the countries around you, and if there are foreign nations in your region that pose a threat to imperial interests, you cannot enrich your country because you are unable to ensure peace and security in the region. I know that even the worst dictators may hold flawed economic ideas, but I do not believe they deliberately impoverish their countries. In other words, while they may hold views contrary to economic science, I am certain they love their countries just as much as anyone else in the world...
Leadership matters a lot and it isn't still what will make underdeveloped to be developed. But leadership plays a bigger role in this. One can have all the resources and still suffer, doesn't mean that they are useless. So may factors contribute, we have leadership even external problems that can affect internally is there. Infrastructure, industries, education. Human resources is very vital to growth but it is less appreciated.

That is precisely why, in order to become a leader, one needs to learn. Rather than just thinking that coming to power itself will make you capable of managing something on such a large scale. The problem is that very many people strive for power for their own personal gain and to secure their place under the sun. Whereas power is a responsibility, and it should be perceived as such first and foremost.

However, even if there is good leadership, if there is no opportunity to utilize the skills of the country's people, then it is difficult to maintain progress. Again even if there are skilled people, if education and the business environment are weak, they cannot progress properly. I would see leadership as a part of running the entire system properly rather than the main driver, If leadership is good, it is easy to create opportunities but to utilize those opportunities skilled people and the right environment are also needed.

Nothing can be done, because they simply refuse to accept criticism and suggestions from their own people, due to their utter greed and avarice. Therefore, a country's economy is completely destroyed when it is led by corrupt leaders, government, and officials. They have no plans to develop the nation, they only plan to enrich themselves.
Most times when I seat to rethink this who selfishness of some country's leaders, I start to wonder how they think about economic growth and what they really understand by their country's development. When they as leaders do what is necessary for the growth and development of the nation, they see more cash inflow into the country's treasury. When the natural resources of a country is well preserved and managed, the need for foreign investors and tourist are sources of income that can be generated to the economic growth of that country and if they have their own investments/industries in the country, it brings more funds to the growth of the own industries. But for the reason of selfish interest, they feel more satisfied suffocating their citizens with ardent poverty and suffering. Most times, I feel these wicked leaders tends to think without the use of their brain.

These bad leaders understand the power of subduing the masses with hunger and starvation to be able to have them do their wish at all time. This is why instead of using their government resources to empower the masses and create jobs and also infrastructures, they steal the money and keep it until election campaigns start when they will start throwing money around to gain the consent of the voters. In order to survive in already difficult situations, the voters succumb to this trick, collect the money and vote them in again. This is why bad leaders keep repeating their tenures and also worsening the situation of their country. I sometimes wonder what they do with the volume of money they steal from the government purse, an amount capable of sustaining a generation of state. When the citizens of those countries finally decide to cause the change they deserve, they will start voting without bias and reject their election peanuts from these men that destroy the economy on a daily basis.

They definitely have an idea of what to do with this money. As the saying goes, appetite comes with eating. As long as these amounts are not accessible to you, you can't even think about spending them on something, because it's simply outside your sphere of influence. But as soon as a person, especially someone coming out of poverty, gets their hands on money, they start spending it mindlessly, often on complete nonsense, simply because they can afford it.

If you examine the education systems of some poor countries, you will see how much difference there is between them and the education systems of developing and developed countries. Due to the lack of infrastructure in poor countries, the educational programs are weak, and as a result, there are very few opportunities for work oriented education. From this system, a few talented students get the opportunity to get higher education and succeed. They establish themselves by acquiring skills. The government has limitations or they do not have financial capacity or sufficient manpower. Consider it important to have a person centered demand for achieving work oriented education.

Underdeveloped countries will find it more and more tougher to develop their economies for now ever since Donald Trump got elected into the white house, with Donald Trump massive tariffs implemented on almost every countries around the world, a lot of factories in underdeveloped countries are surely struggling to survive as their products are getting much less orders from their America business partners, and also with the ongoing Iran war started by Donald Trump, oil prices around the world are skyrocketing and poverty in underdeveloped countries are surely going to worsens if things does not turn around soon.
Know those nations lead by leaders with vision and prosperous dreams will ever maintain same poverty level as mentioned above. The most important factor responsible for under development is bad leadership system, when a country's leadership structure is corrupt it will be very difficult to achieve success but it there exists leaders with dreams and vision success is the easiest they could talk about. Before now Burkina Faso was among the nations facing under development greatly but since Abraham took over power they have experienced rapid transformation which am sure they will do more in time to come Poor dedication and lack of integrity among government officials tends to bring about the down fall of an area. On the other hand, a quick economic change can be achieved with consistent implementation of governance changes. Leadership geared towards shared prosperity has been shown to have the potential to turn backwardness into spring forward providing new hope to all the layers of society. In simple terms, you pointed at leadership geared by selflessness. Greediness has caused tireless inhumanities, greediness results to looting and others forms of corruption which continue to keep a nation backward. A selfless governance is a direct opposite, it will develop the people and their environment without holding back anything available that can project the wellbeing of the nation to greater heights. Selflessness triggers accountability and integrity which actually defines leadership which means "service to humanity".

It is simply human nature: given the chance, people will shop to their heart's content. They view it as an opportunity to fulfill the desires that went unmet when they were poor; once they have money, they inevitably buy things that bring them happiness even if that money comes from the state treasury through theft.

It's like you are confusing me with your statement, you said leadership matters a lot but it still don't play a vital rule in making underdevelop country developed. You may have your own reason of saying this but to my own understanding, if a country have a good leader definitely development will come in, because it is always a good leader that can bring development to every Society. In every country it is always the government that is to supreme in terms of making decision on every aspect. If the government choose to develop his nation, he have assurance of making it happen because they are so powerful and rich compare to ordinary person. It is the responsibility of every government to make sure that their territory is developing, and if they fail to do so they have to be hold accountable.

Well said, the problem with a lot of underdeveloped countries today most especially in Africa is simply as a result of bad leadership structure, due to how corrupt the government of these countries are the resources meant to build a better life for the citizens goes to certain politicians and they keep on doing this until the countries economy collapses. In my country little attention is given to healthcare infrastructure and education, these are the key areas to know if a country is actually developed. It is quite sad that my country isn't a poor country per se but the resources are been mismanaged and stolen. Not every country tagged as undeveloped is actually poor.

If the leader can't see and live out the growth, it's impossible for it to be reflected in tye lives of the people A controversial claim, especially in today’s world. What you’re describing pertains to more ancient times and a tribal model. The essence of that model is that we hand over all power to whoever… we’ve decided to consider our leader. The sole and powerful one. And this is where all the problems begin in this model - any failure on the part of the chief, and he "designates the guilty parties", usurpation of power, …, overthrow/coup, and … the election of a new CHIEF! But people should elect MANAGERS to run the country! Not chiefs, not the gods’ chosen ones, not untouchables, but HIRED managers to whom the people have entrusted the country’s governance for a certain period of time, with clear requirements, goals, and measurable metrics.

Poverty truly exists in underdeveloped countries, even though they are not, in fact, poor countries. They possess abundant resources, but a highly corrupt government makes them underdeveloped and hinders progress and development. I truly wonder how they (the government and officials) in these countries can be so greedy and greedy that they are willing to create a system that tortures and impoverishes their own people. These are truly cruel and inhumane actions and practices.
The problem of the underdeveloped or poor countries can be traced to poor policies, not electing the right people, been to partisan tribal bigotry, corruption, bad leaders and religion. The developed countries do that exact opposite of what the undeveloped or poor countries do. Meaning the citizens of the underdeveloped or poor countries are mostly the cause of their problems. How can you vote for an incompetent person simply because he is from your tribe or religion and expect development, how can you vote for someone you know is incompetent in macroeconomics economics because he is from your religion. Until these underdeveloped countries or poor countries stop all these things listed here by my humble self the underdeveloped or poor countries will remain underdeveloped or poor.

You are right that most countries do not develop due to the leadership crisis in African countries. Those who are in charge of the country do not use the resources within the country properly and if they do a little development work, they launder most of the funds abroad. The backbone of a country's economy depends on the proper use of the natural resources of that country. If the leadership of a country is in the hands of talented people, that leadership gives more importance to solving the unemployment problem for the economic development of the country. A bad leadership can destroy the infrastructure of the country by taking bad decisions. By deliberately creating inflation and encouraging corruption, that bad leadership pushes the people towards poverty. They profit themselves by stealing the people's wealth and by stealing the country's wealth, they create mountains of wealth abroad.

The issue of undeveloped countries, I think Nigeria is one of them, I don't know how much you guys might think Nigeria has developed, but to me? Nigeria is not to be counted among the develope countries, because they've got everything it takes to make this country look better than some of the western countries, but the greedy people in power wouldn't let that to happen instead they take it to other nations to develop, so which talking about undeveloped countries Nigeria should be ahead of them all no doubt.
