I completely agree with Fortify. It would be a really tough job if someone were to fix top-level matches like the World Cup. Young players are at the peak of their careers, and how many people are keeping an eye on them, and the FIFA organization and the media don't turn off the cameras for a moment, everyone is under constant surveillance.

In fact, scammers always try their best to sell such fixed match tips during big tournaments like this. The main target of these scammers is those who have lost money on sports betting and gone bankrupt. And these looser gamblers easily fall into their trap. The scamming continues till there are gullible people. We can stop some scammers but their are a lot of countries that are indifferent to such activities and the only way to stop them is to educate people.

There isn't much to add to what you said and one point is very important to note. The billions of people watching the players and the technology capturing every single bit of what is happening down on the field. I think the covered mouth followed by the red card against Paraguay shows that the slightest gestures don't go unnoticed. If a player makes a strange movement and for example causes an own goal, it probably doesn't go unnoticed. It would have to be a strongly natural movement in order to avoid big discussions. Match fixing is tough these days and I think technology has done its part to counter it. Referees can't just make wrong decisions because there is the VAR and if they are very bad and public discussions come up, it is over for them at a World Cup. As soon as there are big controversies, the FIFA has almost no option but to abandon that referee for the event. If they don't and he makes a wrong decision unintentionally in the next match, the FIFA gets under fire.

I believe this kind of practice is going on in most championships around the world. Scammers don't need to corrupt an entire team or league to make it happen, rather they just need a corrupt single player willing to participate the scheme.

Look the brazilian players Paquetá and Bruno Henrique. There have been a lot of businesses here in my city which have taken advantage of the tournament in order to attract more costumers to their places, the most common strategy is simply placing a big TV in their shops in order to attract people. I have also seen businesses making customized shirts and merchandise with the face and logos of the most followed teams of the world cup.

So what you say is correct, there are many people and companies which try to profit off this world cup, some people do it in legitimate ways and others do it in very questionable and illegal ways. We just need to know the difference and stay away from scammers,as far away as possible and it is possible for us, to report them to authorities.

The news is not as big as it should be because it's FIFA's biggest competition. FIFA already has a bad image among football fans due to its double standards (US-Israel ok, Russia ban). Football fans also believe FIFA is a corrupt organization.

According to a post I read, it’s expected that more than $150 billion will be bet on the World Cup 2026 [2]. Match fixers would love the smell of $$$ in this number. The World Cup is a big event that involves many countries. There are some small countries that participated in the World Cup that don't have the same economic level as big countries like the US or European countries. I believe players from smaller countries are the most vulnerable to becoming targets for match fixing.

You are right, anyone that thinks that teams can participate in in fixed matches don't really understand football. The world cup is highly competitive and a lot of countries are involved making the games closely monitored. There's a lot that is been observed and there's no opportunity that anyone might have to do Anything to cheat others in such a competition.
