This 2026 World Cup is completely unpredictable, the just concluded round has shown that it is not going to be business as usual because most of those big teams that we felt will possibly be the ones to carry the cup like Germany, Netherlands, Sweden etc have been eliminated. I am predicting that the team that would carry this 2026 World Cup would be a team that know one expected, the rivalry seems to be between bigger teams more, i feel that if African teams like Senegal can maintain their composure and game play they might stand a high chance of winning. I won’t say that this is a moment of glory yet for African teams because the tournament just started, a lot is yet to unfold, however, i can’t also write the African teams off because this modern football era anything is possible.

Honestly, I'm really proud of our performance so far in the world cup. We're putting up a good fight without slacking off. I know this knockout stage won't be easy; so far, Morocco has scaled through to the round of 16, Ivory Coast, and  RSA has been eliminated by Norway and Canada respectively. I believe the rest will do better and most will scale through in the likes of Ghana, Algeria and Egypt. I'm having high hopes on these teams and I believe they'll scale through to the next round, the rest will really have a tough time; I can't say much about Congo though, it will be a tough game for them. Well, this is football; anything can happen.

At times, it would be like this and non of those countries will still be able to win the cup, although I don't wish that for the African team, it's going to be a good victory for us if any of the African team win but it's too early to see it as a moment of glory, well they have tried to come this far but we still have a long road to go as the game is going to get tougher, among this African team, I have favourite country that I'm rooting for.

Not a single African team finished first in their group. And a very difficult qualifying tournament lies ahead. Only the strongest football teams will reach the final.

You are right and this is a big factor to consider because it shows that they are going to meet the best teams from the other groups. Although that's not just about it as there are also teams that came out Ist but have gone home and more like that will still go home. The possibility for African country to still reach the semi final is there with the best 9 so far. I hope that Morocco finds it easy with Canada in their next match.

The biggest upset for me will be when Cape Verde defeats Argentina to proceed to quarter finals  

Yes, in my opinion, the increase in the number of football teams at this tournament has led to increased chaos. Strong teams lose more often. Randomness has become more important than before, and the game itself has become more unpredictable. 🙋

I'm looking forward to the Morocco vs. Canada match. I'm sure it will be very difficult for the Moroccan football team to beat the Canadians. The Canadians are very fast, very young, and very athletic... They will have great support from the fans (in the stands). Overall, I think they will be a very strong opponent for Morocco (by the way, I bet on the Netherlands to win the Morocco vs. Netherlands match and lost 🙂).

I think it will be even more difficult for Cape Verde to beat Argentina. Even a draw in regulation time seems unlikely. Objectively speaking, Argentina is a top-level team, but nevertheless, I want to wish Cape Verde good luck! I expect a very interesting game! 🧏

I don't really know why you think this should be a moment of glory for Africans teams while they have not gotten to the final stage or win the trophy perhaps you are trying to say that all Africans teams that did well should be commended for making it through the group stage because it is not easy. Morocco is always strong and good, last World cup they did well too and they played third place and I wish they didn't play against country like France they would have seen themselves in the finals but they can still do it again.

I don't want to say that Africa team performing well and will not celebrate yet. Because the truth is Africa teams have been under performing in the world cup because till now no African team has played in the final of the world cup. That African teams made it out of the group stages of the world cup should not be a celebration we should set up bigger targets for ourselves. Let's see how many African teams will make it out of the knockout stage of the competition, before we can talk about calling it a moment of glory.

This is not the time to celebrate,it's just too early to celebrate our africa teams although they are trying but they is  much left that needs to be accomplished. Africa teams has a bigger tasks ahead that must be accomplished and that is winning the world cup. They haven't win it before or even reach the final. During the last world cup,morroco was the only African team who managed to reach semi finals,the rest were knockout along the way. The only time we should be celebrating is when Africa win the world cup or make it to the final but from my angle, I think morroco might be the only Africa team who will survive the knockout stage. This is a very impressive improvement. This improvement is a result of many positive things focused on the African continent. And this proves we are not underdogs. We are heading towards the big dogs. Other African teams should learn from the African nations that qualified and use that to improve themselves. African teams I must confess are doing perfectly well at this world cup and I must say I'm very impressed by their performance so far and I'm proud of them but let's not hype them for now because the rounds of 32 is just here and most African teams has been eliminated already like South Africa has been eliminated from the world cup, though it's sad but we are happy because we doubted the would even scale through the group stages and surprisingly they did, putting up a good performances unlike Tunisia that performed very poor and couldn't advanced from the group stages.

We must give them some credit because it's not easy. So I'm proud of all the African countries that are representing us well in the world cup and this shows that we have improved in our soccer. The African team that I think will advance into the semi's is the Moroccan team because they are playing extremely well, I wish our African teams well.

I mean considering what weak teams and performances we have seen in this world cup I wouldn't call is glory. None of the teams won a group and under normal conditions (no 3rd place advance) half the teams would have been out. And if this was a 32 team WC with obviously less African teams maybe just 2 or so would have advanced, let's be real about that.
But don't get me wrong, I am happy that these teams have the success they are having, just no need to see it out of proportion.

The games are getting more interesting. I can't remember when time Canada appeared at the men's world cup though but they are really doing well with their crowd support. Surely , the Moroccan team will find a way to deal with that as they had such advantage too at the last Afcon tournament that they hosted and played final with Senegal. I believe this will be one of the intriguing matches of the tournament. I still believe that the African best team for now will be luckier just like in the game with the Netherlands that you lost

Well majority will also feel this way that it will be an easy ride for Argentina but what do we know....

However, Cape Verde has a very young energetic team and it could just be that Argentine will be too confident to go all out and anything can happen.

Meanwhile, I saw on a reel that Christino Ronaldo and Messi have not met each other in a world cup match since 20 years or so either because one team is sent out earlier before they meet. So, their is possibility for Portugal and Argentina to meet at the quarter final if they both win their match and will see both player's performance playing against each other at the world cup.

We cannot call it a moment of glory for African teams just yet until the world cup is over but from we can all see that African teams are doing very well in this world cup and honestly a lot of us that are Africans didn't even expect this from them. From the way I see it I doubt if Any African team can win this world cup.

Although it is not a winner but it is a good step from African countries, their development is good from the last five years although I would not say it is a success but it is a progress that can be assessed and seen from those countries.
 
The probability is still low for the winner of the world cup right now considering other countries like Argentina, France and others are still very strong, but unexpectedly yesterday the Netherlands lost to Morocco and they have entered the last 16 which will meet Canada.

In a way I'm not surprised, many Africans play in big teams, plus physical prowess is an added value.
I don't like African teams, I prefer South American teams more after Italy, but I can't hide the performances they are showing in this World Cup.
I don't know if one of them will be able to win the World Cup (it will be difficult) but if they could beat teams that have historically always been strong it would be a great satisfaction.
Today, England's match against the Democratic Republic of Congo should be a good one, also because England are the favourites, but that doesn't mean it's a sure win, simply on paper even among bettors they think it's easier for England to win, I placed a bet on Congo, they have what it takes to win this match, England are not at their best.

I am not sure if there will be any African team that will reach the final stage but since we don't know what's going to happen in those future games, all we can do is to be positive and hope on the chances of any African team to qualify for the final stage.

Sometimes  the odds can be deceiving and doesn't  dictate  what happens on the pitch, I still think  African countries  have done greatly  In This world  cup  tournament, and also believe  there are more to see from the remaining teams left, Morocco  in particular  went as far as the semi final in that last world  cup so this time getting  to final this tournament  shouldn't be supprising, we are so focus on the European countries  to the extent  we expect  less from the African  country,  so it's better they take us by surprise.

Look at what cape Verde did and how they qualified  for the round  of 32 in a group  that had Spain  and Uruguay in it they still Manage  to make it to the round  of 32 and you think it's not a glory? Sometimes  you don't have  to win it all before  you're giving  credit. Even DR. Congo almost  eliminated  England  today if not for late turn over.
