I think we should have created this thread long ago , So I am creating this thread to debate the current FIFA World Cup Controversy here. In games there will be always some controversy in Fans and defenders.

I am starting with the recent Game Argentina Vs Egypt

Since the game started a lots of controversy already made against Argentina that FIFA is favoring them. It's not different on yesterday game also.


Firs one is foul by Egypt where it was a soft foul and the goal from Egypt was dissmissed for this reason. 2nd one is from Argentina they didn't gave a foul to Argentina team while the player was in D-box .

According to IFAB Law 12 - Fouls and Misconduct

Impeding the progress of an opponent without contact is not considered a foul if the defender winds the ball cleanly. But in that same law , if the defender has come into contact with the player, which causes a reckless tackle, challenge, and the player could have won the ball again, then it's considered a foul.
However, a referee interpreted that it was not a reckless action, so he did not consider it a foul. So why did they give a soft interaction a foul against Argentina, and it's a different scenario on behalf of Egypt?

There have been quite a lot of commotion online about how FIFA seems to be in favour of certain countries over others with Argentina being at the helm of the whole conspiracy and people who are talking about this will very much certainly provide pictorial evidence to prove themselves right and maybe they are right but if FIFA is indeed intentionally trying to make it so certain countries come out ontop of others then that would really be a disappointment to the whole world, but the truth is that no matter what we think about certain occurrences in the field the decision ultimately lies with the referee.

Football is a massive economic industry today. While World Cup officials might not necessarily want African teams to advance, there is no actual bias or favoritism involved in the outcomes.
They showed favoritism toward the USA regarding the Balogun situation, but ultimately, it didn't matter; Belgium eliminated the USA by scoring four goals.
The referees aren't making any major errors right now; in fact, the officiating has been among the best aspects of the tournament.

I am a fan of Argentina but some of the decisions in yesterday's match was controversial. I'm not in the category that claims FIFA is doing all this for Messi but there certainly is some bias towards bigger teams when they are competing with less popular teams. It's a no brainer that Argentina would bring more viewers and hence TRP for FIFA in further games compared to Egypt. The FIFA is somehow biased in trying to bring the big names to semi-finals and finals.
France and Spain, England and Argentina would be their choice for semis.

Even Egypt's coach was in massive disbelief about the outcome and he's so upset about the VAR and the officials. No country has done that comeback before, and it just so happens Argentina was the one playing it, where some critics are so huge because Messi was there.  This world cup has been full of controversy, most expecially toward Africa nation and more favouring the Argentine national team just like what happened in the game yesterday between the Egypt and Argentina, second goal that was scored by Egypt should have stood because the action leading to was not foul but var called the attention of the referee which i think shouldn't have because the touch was too soft to calk the attention of the referee. The similar event happened against Senegal team at the ending of the game which shouldn't not have called up to . This has to be  looked into seriously if not the love and trust  of official might just kill image of the beautiful game of football

Why cant you stick to one World Cup topic and discuss everything there, instead of making every day a new topic about every game, game moment, suspicious behavior?

What do you expect game referee to do? Whistle all the time, stop game and run to watch VAR as soon as two players come close? You want 90min game to turn into 190min game with 1 min of action and several minutes of episodes discussion, investigation? The closer is the final game, the more active in trying to notice scam un unfair judgment people became.

The match Argentina vs Egypt really controversial. The coach Hossam Hassan express his emotion to a referee but he can't do anything as rejected and even Hossam gets a yellow card because of the protests.

Hossam said that they get unfair moments that they don't understand while in local websites, Ziko even believed the tournament was rigged to ensure Argentina remained in the competition. Out of that, we don't know anything but some sides said about checking the VAR is necessary.

This is complete bs! Donald Trump had no such right to call the FIFA president to change such decisions. According to article 2 and 25 of the FIFA rules, the United States football squad should be disqualified even before that game but they didn't. As a result of a crooked FIFA president who has no respect for thr beautiful game of football.

The United States already made is controversial with their treatments to iran,  to the Somalian FIFA official and how the ivorian fans were denied entry to support their players.

People should just forget about talking about referee favouring any team, Egypt was leading but as usual to the African teams, Egypt lost just like other clubs. Everyone was happy yesterday that Egypt has won but they disappointed their fans as they lost and now you are talking about referee favouring Argentina. The Argentine players started raising the ball up which weaken the Egypt defence, that is what people should talk about.

Sometimes decisions might go your way, sometimes it might not go your way, but you have to be very vigilant about what decisions that you’re making as a referee, people would always have problems with referee decisions when it doesn’t go their own way, but you just have to try and be careful with whatever decisions that you’re taking as a referee because there is always going to be disagreement with the other team that the decision went against them, so it’s what it is in football, and talking about Donald Trump you will understand that all decisions aren’t always as they want the decision to go their way, Trump took advantage as the President and World Power and being the host nations, unfortunately for them they’re still out of the World Cup.

  I'm surprised that anyone is still surprised by this.

Firstly, at any tournament (even a fair one) you can find many questionable and controversial decisions; nothing is perfect.
Secondly, it's long been known that Argentina (or rather, its  leader in PR) is FIFA's favorite, and referees take this into account. I'll add another good example: in the first case, there wasn't even a yellow card, while in the second, it was a straight red:

It's also funny that Balogun's disqualification for the red card was later "postponed" at Trump's request. This World Cup is rotten from start to finish.

It's a theory that seems to be agreed upon by many. Oh, and especially those who really have great knowledge when it comes to this sport.

Some would just be blind about it and say the referee may have missed it, while others, even the fans of those who are getting the advantage from the biased calls, seem to be frustrated and despise the uncalled fouls.
Maybe it's their love for the sport that is winning over their love for the team they are supporting.

I think they are doing this for a reason, if it is ever true. They want a never-ending talk about the World Cup, and they want more audience, or they are really manipulating it all and already have a winner in their script. There should be some organization that could straighten this out if ever proven to be true.

The refs fuck up in every sport, all sporting associations need to do better and hire only the best professionals in their field. It's getting ridiculous how many bad or wrong calls are made and not only do teams suffer, but the bettors suffer as well.

I think there is no perfect system in the world this is why FIFA is constantly bringing innovations and rules to make the competition better and fairer. Hence, I will not join the ongoing criticism of FIFA on the ground of favoritism as I know that they have not clearly favored any team to win. There can be some mistakes from the individual referees but their final decision may not be the collective stand of FIFA. For the match between Egypt and Argentina, the later won fair and square so no need discrediting FIFA on that match. Egypt had the opportunity to win the match and if they weren't overwhelmed along the line, they would have maintained their lead.

Egypt’s goal was disallowed due to VAR; the incident involving Mo Salah should also have been an opportunity for the referee to check VAR, even though the Egyptian team did not react once the ball was under the control of an Argentine player who launched a counterattack that resulted in the winning goal for Argentina.
Referees often make mistakes in every sports match, but at this 2026 World Cup, such errors seem deliberate.
VAR is meant to ensure fairness in a match, but if it’s ignored so often, what’s the point of VAR? Isn’t that the logic behind it?
