Talking about the statement highlighted, this is one of the reasons why most Bitcoin investors have problems in their investment because they tend to go all in believing that they are certainly going to be in profit if they can buy and hold for a very long time. It's true that Bitcoin is full of potential, but their is not a guarantee that it will skyrocket in the future, that's is why we are adviced to invest from our discretionary income, which is a fund we can do away with, because profit is not a sure thing as you are proclaiming.
We live in a world where anything can happen, so saying as long as you can hold for a very long time, you are sure of being in profit, that's misleading if you don't know.

I wonder why someone would be so dumb to not know that the discretionary fund is what's used for investment, don't such person worry avout settling essential needs on the long run? Investing in Bitcoin requires long term holding not something someone should be expecting profits sooner so people shouldn't go all in but invest with their discretionary funds.
Yes the future of Bitcoin is not guaranteed, we invest based on historical prove of long term improvement and hope that the future would remain so, which is also why people shouldn’t invest with money outside the discretionary funds cause it could complicate the investment with time

There have been so many newbies that are buying Bitcoin without having full understanding about how Bitcoin investment works.
They may feel like if other people are making money from Bitcoin by buying and holding, they can also make money from the market when they buy and hold too. They may have forgotten that is not by buying and holding only but buying Bitcoin at the right time.
The market is big enough to swallow our Bitcoin accumulation and we have to do it in the right way that will not make us to buy at the top when real investors are waiting to buy at the dip.
There's no perfect time to buy bitcoin and you mustn't know much about bitcoin before you can start buying provided that you have your discretionary income and know where to buy your first bitcoin from, you are good to get started.

When you think that timing the dip is the best time to buy, you will remain a no coiner or a low coiner for the rest of your life because you are busy waiting at the ball park clueless of when the price of bitcoin will dip. What if the price did not dip, it means you will keep waiting missing out the opportunity that you should have used to build your bitcoin stash to a certain level.

Brand new investors should focus on building their bitcoin investment with DCA because it gives you the room to ongoingly buy bitcoin weekly and increase your bitcoin portfolio overtime. Waiting stills the opportunity that you have to increase your wealth in future. With DCA you buy both at the bear and the bull run. It's not the price that you are buying that matters but consistent and persistent on your bitcoin accumulation.

If Bitcoin goes from $64k to $256k, it means BTC will be worth 400% of its current value, and the gain itself will be 300%, not 200%. So, if you invest $1k today, you'll make a $3k profit. Is it achievable? In my opinion, yes. I don't know about other price predictions people are talking about, such as $1 million or $2 million, but I think something around $256k is quite possible, considering that Bitcoin adoption could easily increase tenfold from today's 400 million users.

I feel like $256k is still a pretty more grounded long term target than throwing out figures like $1 million or $2 million without being able to explain why they’re making such assumptions.
Although It’s still speculative, but still it doesn’t require an unrealistic leap if Bitcoin continues to gain adoption and demand over time.

Unfortunately, the market doesn’t have to agree with anybody’s prediction on any particular timeline. And even if Bitcoin is gonna eventually reach $256k, it’s gonna take much longer time than many investors would have expected, and there could also be severe drawdowns along the way as well.

As an investor you dont get to be the one determining the % profit yourself, that would be dictated by how long you are investing and where you are investing.

Typically, I expect upto 10% profit in bitcoin over the years as the bull and bear markets cycle. But if you are looking for higher gains you can go for short term trading, putting money into funds that advertise such returns without understanding how they function and eventually lose the money because you got greedy.

The more you play it unsafe, the more you are likely to lose money here is the simple way of explaining it. If you want to invest in MLM/HYIP then go for it, you will learn your lesson yourself.

It’s not a good advice to tell people to consider trading if they want higher gains. Trading is a zero sum game before fees, and after the fees and taxes, plenty traders end up underperforming or losing money. It involve constant prediction of short term price movements(something nobody can do consistently). Those people that gambled away their Bitcoin years ago for cheap profits learnt the hard way and they 100% still regret it till date. They missed the bigger gains that came later because they no longer had their Bitcoin. That’s one of the biggest risk of trading and why there’s nothing good about it

Long term investing is superior because it removes pressure of trying to time the market, reduce unnecessary buying and selling and allows one to build wealth over time. All an investor needs is just a simple accumulation strategy with money they can afford to leave invested; it has historically been a much more reliable than chasing quick profits through trading.

At the same time, ignoring the volatility, to continue investing with confidence, we must invest with discretionary funds. Because when the investment is made with the necessary money beyond our ability, then we will have less power to ignore the volatility, because when you see it decrease after investing the necessary money, then the panic will deepen in you, and besides, will we be able to hold the necessary money for the long term?  Of course not, because we will need the money at that specific time of need, and despite the loss at that time, we will have to sell our investment and take the money to meet that need, where there will be a high possibility of a very big loss. That is why with the right plan, you must invest with the right amount, which you can hold for the long term, because for good success there is no alternative to continuous long-term holding.

Having a huge capital gives you an advantage but it doesn't mean that Small investors cannot make significant profits from it. Everyone's capacity is not the same and Bitcoin isn't only for the rich, the most important thing is to have a source of income. If you are a small investor you must learn to be patient because you'd have to hodl for a long period of time.

Don't make the mistake of trying to find a perfect timing to invest especially during the bear season, this is a common mistake that a lot of people make. You can use DCA to keep on buying the dip if there's consistent decline in the price of Bitcoin

You have no business with checking the price of Bitcoin as a small investor because your goal is actually that of a long term.
Small investors doesn't have to be discouraged with their little way of buying, it is all about consistency and a matter of time and when all their little buys are being put together over the long term it will become something meaningful and they are not far from making something big and according to the size of their overall holding plus the time they have held, personally I wouldn't even get to ask such question small investors can actually make good profit from Bitcoin as every will only get to reap what they planted and according to how they planted it unbiased.

I don't consider the volatility of bitcoin as a major obstacle for long-term investmemt irrespective of whatever method the investor chooses to adopt, it is only a problem for short-term term investors who want to aim the market to get perfect entry and make profits before the market hit their protective stops. For instance, someone investing via the DCA method will not mind any rapid spike in price because the DCA method does not care about the price but is more concerned about getting an entry at a designated time.

Therefore, dwelling so much on the volatility of bitcoin makes it look like we are discussing trading which is never the best way to go about bitcoin because of the risk inherent in it.

I think your first statement is a bit harsh. A naïve investor will feel belittled. It doesn't leave much room for beginners to learn and improve.

I am very certain not everyone understands how investment is supposed to be done. And I can't blame them because it has not been long since I read through this thread to understand what amount is to be allocated into investment to achieve success.

Nothing is guaranteed in life. Not even life itself is guaranteed for anyone. We have to do what must be done, and it must be the right thing. If not, there will surely be consequences for every wrong move. Investment errors show no mercy. It has an immediate negative impact on our portfolio when we make a mistake in investment.

You are right  we should not  discourage anyone that investing with a small amount. It may not be possible for a person investing very little money every month to build a huge Bitcoin stash even after many years. But it is by no means a worthless investment. Because just as everyone's income is different, so too will the DCA amount be different. What may seem like a small profit to a rich person, for a person with a limited income, the same profit will provide some financial security in the future, such as a land to live or a good education for their child. Many people think at the beginning of investing that their portfolio will be so large that they will reach the over-accumulation stage. But that may not be possible for everyone. It is foolish to stay away from investing just for this reason. A realistic goal for a small investor may be to create a stronger financial position in the future compared to their current situation. He may not be able to make a living from Bitcoin, but if he invests for a long time, he will have the possibility of creating wealth that he did not have before.

And I do not agree with the statement that “get to reap what they planted and according to how they planted it unbiased ”. Because Bitcoin investment is not like farming, where you will get some things if you invest here. Bitcoin has the potential to give a lot of profit in the long term, but it is not right to compare it with our general investment business products. If a person invests in Bitcoin, he can lose his entire money as a maximum loss, but if he can control the contribution, discipline, cashflow management and holding period, there will be a possibility of making several times more profit. This kind of situation is not possible with other businesses.

Sometimes I'm surprised, even though this is something very basic, but many people still do it recklessly, perhaps because they are trapped in FOMO, unable to manage their finances wisely and want to get rich quickly. Investing in Bitcoin is not about courage, but how long you can survive.
The reason it is highly not recommended to use money that should be for basic needs or money that cannot be covered by the risk is so that you don't panic easily when the price drops, especially at the same time you have to meet other needs, a situation like this will disrupt investments that should be held for 4 years but are forced to cut losses to pay for medical expenses or other things, resulting in the investment being destroyed before its time. Bitcoin is a long-term investment, while DCA is a anti-time weapon. You will reach your target if you can wait, but during the process, you must ensure you are debt-free and have an emergency fund.

any experienced person investing in Bitcoin can not think of doubling his investment. Not any time soon. Investing in Bitcoin can either be as a lump sum investment or a DCA. A lumpsum is what you referred to as the one time investment while the DCA approach is the one you put in money gradually, this second approach makes it easier to manage your risks without letting the money go like that because the lump sum is when you drop plenty money in your investment portfolio
You are right, but I think before anyone can decide to invest, they should first understand how Bitcoin works properly, as they will understand the options that are better for them to achieve success because investing blindly can lead them to financial issues, which might ruin their emotions including their personal relationships. A lot of people do invest without knowing the right principles to apply and when to apply it, so that before getting started, they understand important a strong foundation is.
They should move to figure out their discretionary income, bitcoin investment isn't that complicated and a person who wants start buying doesn't need to have a fix on all the technicalities of bitcoin before they can start buying, knowing that bitcoin is volatile, knowing to invest only with their discretionary (also includes knowing that there are other things they can do with their discretionary income like also building up their emergency fund) and knowing that bitcoin investment is a long term investment will be enough knowledge for someone who wants to start accumulating and holding bitcoin.
As long as they understand to keep their investment within what they can tolerate from their discretionary income then there is effectively nothing that's stopping them from buying bitcoin.

This is actually what people need to understand because market moves so fast. So that indicates that there's no perfect situation to look forward to execute their buys.

If they keep waiting for the dip, they provably got stuck on that position and will provably not gain anything.

Its hard to wait for something unknown that's why instead of waiting much better to focus being consistent buying Bitcoin on regular basis. Because with this for sure they would feel that their portfolio grows. If their strategy is to wait for dip for sure in future what they can possibly earn is more delays and regrets.

With what I have been able to understand about bitcoin investment, i don’t think it is possible to have the full understanding about bitcoin investment as a newbie before investing. once you start investing, then you keep learning. As a newbie what is important at first is just the basics, because as a newbie you can never get to understand everything without been into it. There are some theories that actually need practical for one to have more knowledge or understanding of what that study is about.
You are right, basic knowledge is important, that's why they shouldn't have to skip the first step before investing because skipping it is the beginning of failure. Yes, it's not possible for one to learn everything about investing in Bitcoin, because the basics can help them to start small, as they will also keep learning to protect themselves from common mistakes that most beginners do encounter, as it will help to gain better understanding on how to sustain their investment.

it’s mostly about your time horizon and how much risk/volatility you can handle
if you buy $1k worth at $64k:
    100% profit means $128k (a 2x move)
    200% profit means $256k (a 4x move)
bitcoin can move several-x over multi-year windows, but there’s no guarantee it lands within your personal timeframe, and drawdowns can be brutal on the way there.
nobody can tell you reliably how long will it take
While the timeframe is certainly less certain, especially since this investment involves not only profit but also risk, judging by past market cycles, Bitcoin holders should have a general guideline of holding Bitcoin for at least four years or more. Because the increase with multiple profits usually occurs when the halving is approaching and also after the halving occurs in Bitcoin, so for Bitcoin buyers who are currently trying to collect Bitcoin must still have more enthusiasm in the hope of being able to have such profits even though the price decline in Bitcoin cannot be denied because we often see this in Bitcoin.

There's no perfect time to buy bitcoin and you mustn't know much about bitcoin before you can start buying provided that you have your discretionary income and know where to buy your first bitcoin from, you are good to get started.

I agree that there's no perfect time to buy Bitcoin, and using DCA is a smarter approach than waiting for price to drop before buying.

However, I don't agree with the assumption that Bitcoin will never fall in price, and waiting for Bitcoin to reach a specific price before buying is different from waiting for a price drop.

No investment can keep going up forever without experiencing some declines along the way, and Bitcoin is no exception. There will always be periods of falling price like we're seeing now, and taking advantage of those dips to accumulate isn't a bad strategy either. But it would be a bad strategy to wait for Bitcoin to fall to a specific price before buying.

In time, you would know which assets are profitable or not. It is not you can get good money overnight. It would take time to understand the market and make some profit out of it. That is why, you need patience in order to achieve your goals here.
Edited.

Yes the future of Bitcoin is not guaranteed, we invest based on historical prove of long term improvement and hope that the future would remain so, which is also why people shouldn’t invest with money outside the discretionary funds cause it could complicate the investment with time
I think your first statement is a bit harsh.

Anyone who truly sees bitcoin investment as long term won't need someone else to tell them to invest with money they can leave untouched for a very long time, money that they can afford to lose, this is the kind of thing that common sense will make anyone to understand, it's usually those who treat bitcoin as a means to make quick money that will want to invest with more than just their discretionary income because they are believing that they can get their profit in a very short period of time, short enough that it doesn't affect their livelihoods.
So anyone who wants to invest in bitcoin for the long term will know to invest with their discretionary income without necessarily having to be told first.
