If you do find yourself that losing up that much and its already affecting your financial state condition then it would be best that you should stop or quit completely. Actually, gambling has now turned to grab money from users more than providing an entertainment environment. From the update and response that the OP has given in this thread, he’s still in control and determined not to gamble again. I just hope he will be able to keep that going in the long run, especially as his line of business is also gambling-related, as he might actually be offered a bonus, like you said, by a client, which could bring that which he’s trying to stay away from for a long time back.

Be rest assured these things do come around, especially for those that have their emails active on the gambling casino and have at least verified it, they would still be getting those promotional emails. That’s the ultimate temptation or draw back into the system. Anyone fighting addiction and should look into resisting it at that level too. As Jeremy said below you likely gotta take steps to stop receiving promo emails. Casinos send mass emails out and don't stop til your name/email is removed. They gotta try to keep that money rolling in.

It will definitely take effort but it's not going to be impossible to overcome, I do hope I don't get to the point where I start seeing gambling as being detrimental to my wellbeing to the point of wanting to quit completely, I rarely gamble currently but every once in a while (maybe a week) I feel the need to place a bet or two, it was surprising for me though that I didn't place much bets through this world cup, I was more interested in watching how the game will play out that I didn't even bother about trying to make extra money from it.

There's something i noticed about gambling, it's like a cult. Once you're in you're in a even when you manage to quit for a while you'll still find yourself going back to it. One way or the other something would drag you back to it, maybe an interesting sport game, an advert, email reminder, boredom, a tempting promo, name it.

Absolutely right. Discipline. That's the main factor to keep yourself from the urge that will come when you are on the path of quitting. Without discipline, we will just end up going back to the way we were before, and it means doing it all over again if we are trying to quit again. The urge will always be there. The thought of going back and trying to chase the losses will always linger.
This is where new hobbies will play a big role. If we are into sports, we can focus on them. If we are into other games like online games, let's make sure that those games won't have some gambling advertisements that will give us the idea to gamble again.
It's a process and can be a long one. Patience is needed.
