It all depends on where the opportunities are coming from, for some people they get their opportunities and most people get more opportunities from running a business than what they get from having a degree but this is not the case for everyone because some people get more opportunities from having a degree. The level of poverty in the society and bad governance has made people to forget the true meaning of value. Degree is not allowed about money but reasoning. The attitude of an educated business man is quite different from the attitude of a random illiterate business man because he can penetrate any government and any place to foster regulations that will improve his business. Do not just pick a path at random because a lot of other people followed it and succeeded. What works for someone else may not work for you and vice versa, because everyone has different circumstances, abilities and resources.

For people from affluent families, a degree is essential, but for those from families who’ve had to struggle since childhood, a degree isn’t the main priority—it’s experience and skills that matter most. Also depending on the economy and the country you find yourself in. In countries that have economies where there are a lot of available jobs from the government, I do not see how people will prefer owning or undergoing the risk of owning a personal business over these jobs especially when these jobs are well paying. I support the idea that if we can afford it, getting a higher education and a degree is definitely encouraged.
However, I don't completely agree that people who choose business over education do so because they're financially unstable. That might be true for some people, but not everyone.

Musk and Gates dropped out and went into business, but it wasn't because they were financially unstable. They had their own ideas and wanted to go after them.

IMO, having a degree can give and teach us a foundation in terms of theory, networking and credibility, which later makes it easier for them to start a business. However, practical skills and hands on experience often play a bigger role in long-term success because we also see a lot of successful entrepreneurs proving that their ability to adapt, solve problems and execute on the ground can far surpass what’s learned in college.
