People prefer business over degree, from my own point of view I don't think people will prefer to do business over degree or being educated, if you are not educated how are you doing to succeed in the business or any business you want to do? There people that run business without not having any degree or educated but once you see those people you will know because they are different from those who are educated.

The reason why some people prefer business is that they don't have a job after spending 4 or 5 year's of looking for a degree, but that is not an excuse, because I see education as a good thing that can help us anywhere we found ourselves.

I don't know why some people underestimate the power of education. Being educated is first step to your growth. Our purpose of education shouldn't only be for the purpose of working as a civil servant. Self growth is actually very important, and the only way to achieve that is through learning. If one door closes, there are still opportunities for many doors to open. Consider doing business is a great idea, but how do you intend to handle your business without having knowledge on how it works. Is not every success person that achieve their goals through their chosen career, sometimes you just have to accept what life throws at you. The problems we're actually now facing is not from education, but from the government, because the government has failed to provide job opportunity for the people as promised. But the truth is that, knowledge is never a waste, because it will be beneficial to you in one way or the other.

From my own opinion i think why most people prefer business this days than degree, is because degree is something that took people 3 to 4 years also involves large amounts of money acquire it. There're many degree holder's who find it difficult to get a good paying jobs that suits their qualifications, unlike Nigeria where we have so many graduates with no good jobs opportunities. But small business can often be laughe immediately with small capital.

I think it depends on situation like every person in this world have different kind of situations like in our country their is no such opportunities after completing degree. When you didnt find any job so the money you spent on degree become waste and also your four years of effort goes waste as well but in business you invest some money and then when it run’s properly you make some good amount of profit every month very easily but their are also some things which should be on your mind like if you are starting a business their are very risks because degree is just a piece of paper but running a business successfully require sharp business sense and your practical experience also you should have the ability ti handle customers. Doing business without any knowledge will not give you good profit, in fact, if you are not careful, you will lose money in that business because everything have some important knowledge you need to understand before you go ahead to join.

Getting knowledge is good and we should not make the mistake of focusing on getting knowledge alone instead of also focusing on building a long lasting business. Having a degree from the university is good but it does not guarantee you a successful businessman rather it enhances your knowledge on how to manage your finances, how to beat competitors in the market, and also how you treat your customers and read their trends in the business, compaired to the uneducated individuals who don't have a degree. But the most required things needed to run a business on a daily basis are practical skills and real world experience rather than a degree. These two factors helps you on how to manage your business effectively in terms of problem solving, the day to day management of your cash flow, sales and how you communicate with your customers to know what their demand are in your business.

Having a degree these days is different from being educated and is now to be seen as two different thing, most people have degree but they can not defend it as to be seen as an educated person, while most people without a degree are more well behaved and smarter than most people that have degree. The reason why some people prefer business over the pursuit of a degree is that, they see both chasing a degree and business to be for the purpose of earning as the end product, and on this regard, they consider chasing a degree a waste of time and money which could have been used for business, most people who didn't have a degree are doing very well financially than those who went in pursuit of degree, having a degree is good if you are knowledgeable, because there are certain things about life you will understand than those who went for business and if you get in to business, you will surely do better than them.

While there are educated, masters of degrees and yet they are living in all theory of how to run it. IMO, having a degree is a nice to have but it won't solely dictate the future of your business. If economy has high unemployment, there is likely chance of you not succeeding in doing business. The more economy is better is how your business will be affected. What you need to know is that business have its ups and down, just because you want to do it doesn't mean you are going to succeed in it. You can start a business that can succeed in other places but due to bad economy, hardship and government policies failed in doing that business in your place.

Business also requires patience, most graduates today are impatient, although I wouldn't blame them due to the system they are coming from. The school has made them to understand that as soon as they live school, they are getting employed and their certificate will bring them money, some have pictured the kind of life they are going to live after, this is why they can't even do business because it takes time and you need to be patient about it.

Your topic we lead us to many people with different kinds of ideas, to me I regrets even going to aqare a degree before, because being a business man theirs more to it than going to school, let me share this experience a guy served his boss when I was in secondary school , now I have graduated from high institution no job and nothing to show for it , while the guy who served his boss for 4 years has a business house and cars of his own today , then I'm still calling my self a graduate till today , some country are just failed country, because after school graduate are not supposed to search for job too much , because the government will know how to fix then into work so that they can't even regret it, but today the government is just there embezzling funds meant for other good things in the country.

Those who have succeeded in business, of course, have a lot of money. Their financial condition is much better than that of employees. Because employees mostly get low salaries and it takes many years to get a good salary, many days of experience are also  required. And people do not have freedom when they are employed. Now if someone can accept the risk of business and manage the business properly by managing funds, then it increases the chances of success for him in the future. But if someone does not want to take such risks, then employment can be a good option for him. And if he wants to create a good position by working, he must have to get good degree, acquire skills. Only then can he improve his position in his working life.

You are oversimplifying it, mate.

You might not have to look for a job, and worry about getting fired, or chase KPI...But in return, you have to find your own customers, bring in revenue, manage costs, and bear all the risks if the business fail.

Having the capital to get started doesn't  mean you're ready to run a business. It's just one piece in a much bigger puzzle when it comes to building one that actually works. You might not need a degree to do business, but that doesn't make knowledge  and education useless on this  road either.

Well this issue is decision matter the pursuit of life we have choice in our career, what I deem necessary in academic as well in human is knowing how to read, write and communicate properly what you choose as career that sustain you won't be much an issue, in the academic many are called few are chosen , everyone must not go into academic or degree, business is not bad it's a choice, where I feel bad is when they make mockery of degrees do to economic imbalance where the holders of those degree faces challenges of no work, but naturally everyone should be able to identify what seem to be career or talent because not everyone who rush for degree has anything to impact but waste their years in something that will not be used for anything, degree is not for ego but also for productive where the purpose is abused it's of no meaning.

But do you understand that having capital and starting a business is just a one step. It only sounds easy. If that would really be that easy, then why so many businesses go down? The only thing i will agree with is that if you don't have the basic education, then you are bound to struggle even while your business is doing well but if you can at lest read and write, you don't really know a college degree for you to succeed in a line of business. there are different means of getting educated one of which is that you get it by engaging in the right thing.

In countries where the educational system is not functioning well, businesses and skills are the direct alternative to formal education and because the product of education are not using their education to solve more real life problem than those that went after skills, it joins in contributing to the low interest in formal education by people of such region. such regions can grow in  business but will do very little when it comes to global competitiveness in innovation.
