has anyone else seen this? Luke is off his rocker.

claiming that the BIP110 HF coming in September switching the algorithm to Blake2b is actual "real" Bitcoin

man is seriously delusional

I'm just curious: what did you say to make him block you?

I'm just curious: what did you say to make him block you?

I think something along the lines of telling him he was off his fucking rocker with his re-writing of history.

Although I don't support Luke Dash Jr.'s actions behind BIP-110, I don't have ANY sympathy for those people who are currently supporting him, and behaving like they're morally above everyone in the Bitcoin community.

If they lose their Bitcoin to a nefarious entity, then that's will be their HARD LESSON to learn from.

Agreed, I have said it many times. I really don't care if these people loose all their BTC.
Heck, I hope they loose everything.

If you don't want to learn how thins work, and follow something that everyone is telling you is wrong except for a few people then as the saying goes. "Sucks to be you"

"Sucks to be you" indeed, but I would never hope for any person to lose all of their Bitcoin.

THAT, in itself, is also sort of nefarious, no?

Quote

Now, I know it's not the reason, but we can torment them saying "Look, now that it's obvious that you are forking off and leaving the price of BTC has gone back up over 20%, that is how wrong you are"  I know that is not the reason why the price is spiked, but it follows their insane lack of logic.

-Dave

If I ask you, would you say that Luke Dash Jr. = Craig Wright after seeing the situation behind FilterBoiCoin?

have seen on Twitter - there is yet another fork - this one forked off from BIP110 - called Bitcoin Purity
https://mempool.bitcoinpurity.org/
so this is what now? 3 forks?
BIP110 SF with upcoming HF, Bitcoin Purity and the upcoming HF eCash (not to be confused with existing eCash)?

It's going to be way more
The Bitcoin Purity guy(s) just stole the start with their fork, as far as I can see they changed the difficulty and mined a few blocks before stopping, if I read that difficulty right it's about 1/10000 of what it should be, around 1 block per hour, so that would mean roughly 10 PH/s HuhHuh
Anyhow, it stalled 23 hours ago, probably money ran out even at these rates.

I read it was slated for oct 31st for the eCash HF - but cant find where I read it at now lol twitter shit gets lost so easily.

https://x.com/Truthcoin/status/2090972504760226042
My head just hurts from trying to understand what this is about.

Nope, they have wasted the time of so many people because of their BS. Other users have to be warned, they were spreading their propaganda all over the place.
They were making up things about BTC and lying about what people were doing.

So, to all the people still following and promoting 110 at this point. Nope, sucks to be them when they loose it all. But, on a happy note if they loose it all then they can't spread their lies to other people.

If I ask you, would you say that Luke Dash Jr. = Craig Wright after seeing the situation behind FilterBoiCoin?

I would say luke is worse the CW. CW never had any credibility and was in it for the scam from the start. luke, took his position and then abused it for his own gain.

Why do we even care about these any more?  At this point I could come up with DickButt Bitcoin and take part in this too.  This is like 2010s all over when everyone was curious to try creating a Bitcoin replica, but what is different now is that everyone seems to have some kind of mental issue where they copy it and they really force them selves to believe it is the real thing!

it also doesnt help that eCash (the new one) isoing to use the same name as the existing failed fork already called eCash - this guy was demanding on twitter that the existing one should give the new one their ticker and domain and blah blah so on and so on
I'd hope the altcoins boards here would have a few threads about it.  Tongue
But back to 110, any further scuttle butt about it? Been mighty quiet from the pro-110 side...

They've announced their own forum to step away from bitcointalk a few months ago but it's relatively quiet there as well.
Ironically, the latest few posts are nothing but spam from off-topic ad bots.

But their Discord server is very active, if you can tolerate some of the members posts (or read them for the lols), you can consider joining to get the latest news.
I wont post a link though.

I would give more sympathy to the stupid, and misinformed who were merely influenced and manipulated by people who were supposed to look after them. I would still laugh at them and tell them "I told you so", BUT to hope that something bad happens to another person is definitely not good.

My head just hurts from trying to understand what this is about.

Did he copy chatbot output without even check the format? Anyway, any reader who's not familiar with this eCash fork should start by reading https://thebitcoinmanual.com/articles/ecash-fork/ instead. IMO the drivechain addition is interesting, but re-distribute half of eCash coin that assumed to be mined by Satoshi to other people is controversial choice.

I won't ask for discord link, but how is it compared with discussion on GitHub (such as https://github.com/bitcoinknots/bitcoin)?

Looking at the eCash thing it's 1000x better then 110. Or as of now at least gives the appearance of it.
Plans, testing, strategy, replay protection. We can disagree with it, but it's being done in a way that lets them go off and do their own thing without any of the crap that 110 is doing.

And, they don't even claim they are BTC. Why? Probably because they are mature adults with a team that knows how things work.

Looked at the knots Discord server. It's about a dumb as you would expect. More of less an echo chamber of a bunch of people telling each other that they are #1 and are going to take over BTC and the 99% of the people who are on the old chain are going to be wrong. You can't help these people.

2 different groups.
If you were as you say "stupid, and misinformed" then yes I do have some sympathy.
There are very very very very few of them from what I can see.

Most are like the ones we see here. PepeLapiu, Greg Tonoski, and a couple of others. Just spewing out their crap. Full on cult members.

They're probably sock-puppets, no? It's easy to create an account, pay for a copper membership, then there's probably a merit-giving service somewhere, or a farm for hire for merits?

  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

But on that subject, there are also the "smarter" Bitcoiners who are supposed to know how Bitcoin works like Hodlonaut, but supports FilterBoiCoin.

No proof, but I think they both thought that BTC was the magical internet money and they could just sit there and do nothing and retire rich.

And we might have said his name 3 times and he appeared GT just made a post about the blake2b fork in the Bitcoin Discussion part of the forum saying that BTC suffered a “98% attack” by the miners that did not support their fork.

Should probably use the report to moderator link to report an alt-coin thread in the bitcoin section.

I haven't read all of the posts but their Devs are active in the development channels where it's much more active than the discussion in their GitHub's repo.

In terms of quantity, most of the channels are very active;
I'd say, about 100~300+ posts per day, but that's Discord so it's more of a chat room type of replies.
The technical discussions are mostly contained in one or two channels.

They still can. - IF they're HODLing the real and actual Bitcoin, with the network that allows the transactions they don't want, that's going to surge to a seven digit price valuation per coin. Cool

I think it's a bit too far claiming Luke Dashjr is even worse than Craig Wright. Luke Dashjr is a legit Bitcoin developer and has been contributing for years. I don't remember Craig Wright writing a single line of Bitcoin code. Im not even sure if he coded anything for BSV or just hired some third parties to do the work. Craig Wright also forged fake details in trying to pass as Satoshi. All that Luke Dashjr is doing is claiming that their fork is the real Bitcoin because of philosophical views. He may be a bit off the spectrum but he is way better than Craig Wright which is probably clinically insane with the amount of bs he has been delivering since day one that he appeared on the scene. Luke Dashjr was more or less respected (except by mostly those that think Segwit was a mistake) in the scene, when was Craig Wright ever respected? And like I said I don't see Luke Dashjr has been trying to do anything for his gain and he is doing things from an honest point of view. Of course thinking your fork is the real Bitcoin doesn't make it true but I don't think he is trying to abuse anything or mislead people, I think he 100% thinks that. People should do their due diligence when trusting others with their bitcoin.

Jameson Lopp write a very long about post BIP 110 activation on BIP-110 Post Mortem. For now, i only skimmed, but it may interest some reader here. It's also handy if you need to find example TX or approach to add arbitrary data that bypass BIP 110 rule.

I agree here. craig wright is also,
1. technicially incompetent. i don't remember where it's mentioned, but he don't even know difference between signed and unsigned integer.
2. have history of suing many Bitcoin developer, supporter and other people who attempt to expose him. it was so terrible that some developer backed away from contributing and made COPA spend about $6 million to sue him and win for good.

but my statement could become inaccurate or wrong in the future if luke do more crazy things.

I agree with most of your reply but here I personally believe you are wrong.  Luke tried to harm Bitcoin and failed miserably in doing that.  I did not see evil in most Bitcoin Cash supporters but I did see a lot of evil in all of the dickbutt jpeg fighters.  It was a 'we will make Bitcoin our way by force' rather than a proposal.

Hell.  The way they were talking about it, sexuality and all, it almost read like they were planning to gang rape Bitcoin.  And I know Luke is not his supporters but I did not see him try to call them out at all for what they were saying and trying.  Or to separate him self from that dubious part of their community.  And that says a lot.

It was evil.

Between their release candidate 2 and release candidate 3 they cut the block size limit to 1/5th (so 800kwu maximum, typical block sizes of around 400kbytes), without any meaningful disclosure until after their HF chain was under way as far as I can tell.  Doesn't appear that there is any published source control history for these changes either.

Luke apparently believed no disclosure or discussion was necessary because a blocksize max for block creation of 300kb has been the default in knots for a long time.  Or maybe no human even knew that change was made: the whole project is vibe coded.  Grin

...and then there is the fact that they announced their POW fork chain would begin September 1st, but began it two days early with hardly any notice and a completely dysfunctional network that already reorged out the first mined blocks because the only people who can participate are ones who join the discord and ask for compatible peers to addnode, or they'll be islanded because their fork doesn't implement any peer discovery of compatible peers.

Then, I wonder, why early BIP-110 blocks used 4 MB limit?

You expected a fair launch? Why should they do that? There is a lot of incentive to launch everything secretly, because then, early miners would have more BIP-110 coins to sell, and could have at least some chances, to cover their losses. They mined 8 blocks with BTC difficulty, and could earn 25 BTC, but got 25 BIP-110 coins instead. Also, it would really undermine their confidence, if they would have yet another halted chain, or something similar. Also, because the same algorithm is used by other altcoins, that risk is still there.

Which can be yet another reason, why their blocks are small. A similar thing happened, when Bitcoin Purity launched, and had much less transactions, than BIP-110 chain with SHA-256.

By default, all nodes can only hear the current traffic. When many users are not running their clients 24/7, and are not re-broadcasting their own transactions, we have, what we have. People turn on their clients, send their transactions, see them displayed in block explorers, and turn off their nodes, because they think, that "someone" will keep relaying it. And in practice, when nobody cares about broadcasting it to new peers, then they ignore these transactions by default, and only some older nodes can mine them, or share them later.
