The earlier people realise that they are doing it all wrong the better, going on Binance exchange to pass KYC, doing the same on Mexc and Bybit, we aren't helping ourselves.

Once your data leaked on a crypto exchange, it said one thing and one thing only, you are probably holding some stach amount of Bitcoin or crypto somewhere and the only way to get it from you is torture.

Money is why many people are desperate, they would do anything to get your money, by scam or by force, heaven blessed you for investing in Bitcoin very early, it's not on heaven to always keep you safe if you own mouth can't be kept shut.

Our negligence attitude has leads some of is to loses massively in terms exposing privacy. We cannot never be serious with something that has already happened, we can only make an adjustment to prevent ourselves in the future, the more you tends to expose all your information to people in public even if you are laying, they will believe its true, and the more all your financial goals are openly to people. We are Individual differences, we have e some noises individuals that can talk to some extent of telling people where they stored thier coins and how much they hold for a while, what we n3ed to understand is that Bitcoin gives us confidence and we control it ourselves, so the controls has become our own personal responsibility to take care on. Moreover, doing everything silently and quietly is more secure than trying to be a reasonably investor to people and develop intrest in your finances.

Just because you don't talk evil about others and you don't do evil to others doesn't mean there are no evil people who do it for a living, they watch while you get too comfortable, every words, every information you shared online, every crypto conversation you had with people in public place, your neighbour etc..  someone might be watching.
Sometimes it is not even the people in the public space, your neighbors or people randomly outsider you should be careful of but you should also be careful of the people you call friends and even family members because they could be as dangerous as the people outside and can have no sense of family bonding that will stop them from recognizing that stealing from their own family member is a terrible thing to do even more terrible than stealing itself. You do not need to trust someone just because they are your family member, be it extended or your immediate family. You need to make sure people earn the trust you give to them.

You are right, it's always those who knows you in and out that go and call evil strangers to attack you while you sleep, this have been the case of many people who got killed for their properties in my country.

If someone on the inside don't give those outside your information you are already safe 80% of times, betrayal in the family is a big deal this days, it's happening everywhere, Gone are the days where you can rely on your own family, this days anybody can do very cruel things to you.

Keep quiet about your bitcoin, keep quiet about your wealth, don't be lousy, don't be the show-up type, but privacy is not truly protected in this time and age of the world. Appearing at a blockchain-related conference wearing a limited-edition Breguet Marie Antoinette wristwatch tells the audience how financially loaded you are, and they suddenly suspect you hold millions in bitcoin/crypto.

Wrench attacks are becoming more famous these days. You can also be quiet about your holdings. Let your tax report sell you off to your targets. Good thing they have caught two suspects linked to the incidents, one of is said to be the victim's business associates. Stay vigilant and stay guided. The world is a cruel place.

The moment you let people around know anything about your financial life you have placed your life in danger and at that point you need nit to trust people around you because they will see you as their own escape to poverty. If you pretend not to be wealthy but appear in expensive wears people who knows the worth of whet they see in you will suspect you to have millions in your account and if they find out that you are a holder of Bitcoin it becomes even worse unless you will be going with securites everywhere and the people who are guiding yoi could also be the ones to sell you out because of what they will benefit.

It is better to remain low key when you have it all to save your self and to distance yourself from every public appearance that will expose you to the world this is the only way to avoid being noticed but of course it is almost impossible for you not to be noticed in this world no matter how much you try to disguise who you are.

As expected someone who is close to the affected victims will be among those who carried out the evil act but the bad thing there is that their arrest will not bring back those who has been killed more reasons why people should protect themselves to avoid being killed.

On the one hand, news stories like this, combined with the incident involving ColdCard, make me wonder if there isn't some kind of covert attack against self-custody. Not the news stories themselves, but the emphasis placed on them. In any case, it seems to be a sign of the times: robberies of stores or banks to steal cash have declined in recent decades simply because there is less and less cash in circulation. And in an increasingly digital world, the ability to steal large amounts of crypto money in a short amount of time is becoming more and more appealing.

It is better to remain low key when you have it all to save your self and to distance yourself from every public appearance that will expose you to the world this is the only way to avoid being noticed but of course it is almost impossible for you not to be noticed in this world no matter how much you try to disguise who you are.

It is better to remain low key in general but especially as for the perceived wealth. The opposite of what many influencers do.

Every data leaks in the hands of centralised entities are a huge risk to your live.

However a person must be very unlucky if his private data got in hands of a criminals that operate in area or country where that person lives. That person must be double unlucky because criminals have chosen to perform their criminal actions offline. I believe if my data leaks then it will be 99% used to commit crime online and only 1% that criminals would hunt me offline. Imo acting against law offline is way more risky than scamming online.

Getting killed for your Bitcoin has nothing to do with you been a very good person.

Just because you don't talk evil about others and you don't do evil to others doesn't mean there are no evil people who do it for a living, they watch while you get too comfortable, every words, every information you shared online, every crypto conversation you had with people in public place, your neighbour etc..  someone might be watching.

Practice OPsec and keep quiet 🤐 🤐 🤐 🤐 about your Bitcoin.

You should not advertise your Bitcoin holdings publicly at all, because it can secretly bring a lot of hostility to you and can cause you great harm. If you have Bitcoin holdings, if someone around you finds out, they can kidnap you, and then ask you for your Bitcoin ransom as money. So the more secret your Bitcoin holdings are, the more you can safely keep them for a long time,
Bitcoin privacy is the biggest strategy. The person who does not follow this privacy issue is much more exposed to danger, so it is important to have the greatest awareness about privacy when investing in Bitcoin.

And xxxtentacion got murdered over a Gucci bag. People displaying wealth in any way are more likely to be robbed. Is that surprising?

Especially crypto is a non reversible very liquid form of cash. So it's like having cash in your mattress. Of course if you tell around people will want to rip it apart and steal it.

With bitcoin it is the well known crowbar method.

Let get this clear that privacy isn’t about hiding because you’re doing something that is wrong. It is just about not sharing unnecessary information about what you own.

If people know that you are holding a large amount of of bitcoins, a data leak or a careless conversation can make you a target. Therefore you don’t have become completely anonymous but you Have to avoid sharing information than necessary because that is exactly what is leading to all of this kind of attacks.

This is the same that applies to decentralization. Keeping bitcoin on an exchange may be convenient, but you are trusting another party with your holdings. Wch practically goes against what bitcoin was designed to be, bitcoin was designed to give people options to control their own money by their self, so learning proper self custody and keeping quiet about your holding should be a common sense that will save you from attack like this.
The world is not a good place now, people should learn to keep things within them self and also know who they tell about there plans, what they have and also how rich they are. There are people who can kill for nothing, there are also people who can be envious of you because of what have and just decide to eliminate you, there are certain and vital informations you don't have share to people because you don't know who loves you and what hate you, if you are buying and holding bitcoin just do it on a low with out any third party hearing about it for the safety of our lives.

Snip
This is very clear, because why would we show off Bitcoin to others, and why would we tell others that we own Bitcoin? So, I think people like that are clearly arrogant. Because people who aren't arrogant certainly wouldn't tell anyone that they own Bitcoin, or even other assets.

Because basically, it's clearly useless, and it could even lead to harm, as you said. Therefore, remaining anonymous regarding Bitcoin is indeed the right choice. Because, basically, I think privacy isn't just about Bitcoin we should keep our other assets secret as well. Because that could be very dangerous.

So, stay safe and don't expect praise from anyone for owning Bitcoin. Because we don't need anyone's recognition for this it's not important at all. So,, with that in mind, I think it's important to maintain our privacy when outside. The point is, don't open your Bitcoin wallet in public. Because there may be people who secretly watch our activities.

Typical me when I joined the forum newly. I was like;

"I don't steal, I won't steal, I don't scam and I won't scam, why should I be scared of KYC?"

I started suspecting those who avoid KYC like they were criminals hiding from the government. I started to question until I met a post by e_o_l_o_e who explained the basics of privacy. That was how I knew the importance of privacy.

I also had this believe that I don't do evil to others, so Evil will not get to me. But I later realised that the world is not fair when my laptop was stolen twice, my phone stolen twice in the higher institution even when I don't steal.

Everyone should just be careful and privacy conscious. Most importantly, choose your environment of residence carefully.

I don't need to live a privacy live as a bitcoin holder, bitcoin is more popular today and every knows about it.
Why hide?

A typical dumb mindset of many people today who don't even understand why Bitcoin choose decentralisation in the first place.
Here is why you should be serious with decentralisation and privacy.

Every data leaks in the hands of centralised entities are a huge risk to your live.

In the conventional financial system, if a person has a lot of wealth, it can be easily revealed even if he does not reveal it himself. But Bitcoin is able to maintain the freedom of a person in this case. Even if someone holds a lot of Bitcoin in his wallet, it will not be revealed unless he wants it himself. But if something is revealed that he has Bitcoin, then he must take responsibility for it. There are some things for which a person does not have to say that he has Bitcoin, but his behavior and physical appearance speak about it. Now if someone goes to a seminar related to Bitcoin and shows his own appearance in such a way that he is very rich and has wealth, then the general public will definitely get an idea about him that he has a lot of Bitcoin as @Hazink express. Such people like this don't need to be told about Bitcoin. Even if they do not have Bitcoin, they can be victims of wrench attacks.

You have to take responsibility for the security of your assets yourself. Only the security of your wallet will not be beneficial if you do not have your own security. Both wallet security and your own security should be given equal importance. Most of the time, it is seen that many people want to be proud of the Bitcoin they have. They tell the information others about the Bitcoin they have, but their simple mind and the outside world will never be the same. That is why it is better to be as restrained as possible for the sake of the security of your assets.

Privacy doesn't necessarily mean you have to be anonymous completely, you just have to be careful with revealing sensitive information that might make you a target. Most of these scammers are always on the lookout for the slightest information so sharing anything that relates you to owning a decent amount of Bitcoin can be risky and easily make you a target. People need to know that the less information you reveal the more difficult you make it for people to make you a target.

Using a centralized exchanged, you don't just trust them with your assets, you also share more details about yourself by doing their KYC which I don't think is right for user who prioritize privacy. Some people believe that self custody comes with responsibilities which they are not ready for but having your assets in your custody is the best thing.

I wouldn't downplay the danger of holding fiat money, nor would I downplay the danger of owning Bitcoin. To someone who wants to take what doesn't belong to them, it usually doesn't matter what they're taking. But with Bitcoin, it seems these scoundrels have the peculiar notion that by stealing a certain amount, they're bound to end up with millions in the future, forgetting or not realizing that they, too, can be caught. Usually, people draw attention to themselves by bragging or talking about how they own Bitcoin or are investors. It's especially funny when someone who's very boastful tells their friends about amounts they don't actually have in their wallet and ends up causing themselves a lot of trouble🤷‍♀️. Bragging is the easiest way to become a target.

There are some past incidents like this and I'm sure no one wants to be on the same scenario like this.

I'm known to everyone that I know that I'm a proud bitcoin holder and very bullish about it to them. This is from way way way back when incidents like this had never happened. To be honest, it is very self satisfying that I flaunt that I'm very early on an asset that is appreciating in value but it was a mistake. Because of news like these, I toned down and tell majority of the people I know that I quit crypto and bitcoin, I told them that the bear market cause me to  breakeven and have a slight loss from my investments on crypto.

I know that this can affect my reputation as a bitcoin bullish person before but I'm fine with it as long as I know that I can avoid potential incidents like this.

I've learned that I don't gain anything from flaunting it, so I stopped it.

You have given important advice. Wealth acts as a driving force for everyone. That wealth can be centralized or decentralized. When the issue of decentralized wealth comes to the fore, it becomes easier for scammers. To track the movement and seize the opportunity to steal digital assets and achieve the goal. I say easy because in many countries there are restrictions on Bitcoin, so the victim will not reveal it to the government and there will be a fear of not getting legal protection. If the criminals get the opportunity to know that someone is a Bitcoin holder, there is a fear of losing his life. Op Your advice is important for every investor. Bitcoin holders need to keep quiet to protect their wealth and for their own safety.

Some people even go to an extent of boasting about their bitcoins even if they are not holding that much themselves.
The sad thing is, criminals won't trust you even if you are telling the truth.
So even if you are not holding that many bitcoins, it might still get you killed if you publicly announce about your bitcoin holdings.
It won't really matter whether you have it or not. If you have it, they will steal it from you and if you don't have it you die.

Criminals can kills anyone for any reason its could be fiat its could be crypto or bitcoin no matter what we have but always needs to stay undercover because publicly talk or anything is going to be big threat for anyone specially in countries where things are not working properly because they have enough time and space to trace you and have data about you which could be easily available for them. Secrecy being an important part of life now due to increased chances of having deep troubles, it's not only related to Bitcoin, but in crypto they usually have more exposure because they are always ready to increase the fear factor.

Privacy here and there. Someone will now take it like they said they disappear from the internet. The very simple thing you can do is make sure your online presence can't be linked to your Bitcoin holdings. As simple as that. And moreover, it's even safe you reduce posting everything about yourself online. They can't come and kill what they don't know about. Everything now people wants to post online and come later to cry chicken when they get hacked or something worse.

Whether Bitcoin or fiat, people are always after wealth. Some chase wealth fairly while others do underhanded tactics and even commiting crimes.  For perpetrators and criminals, they don't find any difference between Bitcoin and fiat currency, as long as they got an information about someone having huge amounts of money, they will target such people.

This is the reason why no one should flaunt their wealth and let other people know because not everyone have pure heart.  Others are so wicked that they will do everything to rob that person's wealth.
You are absolutely right. That's the real truth about it, because it's not only Bitcoin that they are looking for. We should always try as much as possible to protect our wealth with extreme care, because wealth is wealth.

Once they find out that you are wealthy, there's no two ways about it, because they will definitely want to harm you and take away everything from you. So we shouldn't get it twisted by overlooking any of them, as people are not always trustworthy.

This is a very bad news and it is worrying. There was a discussion on the gambling board recently where I saw some users posted that people do not go for KYC because they are trying to evade tax, but this is not just true for everyone. Some people just want privacy is the reason they do not like KYC.

But I do not know what actually happened. Some people can reveal the coins through their talk or on social media. We have seen that happened before.
This is certainly bad news, but it is nothing new for people to be kidnapped or murdered simply because it became known that they held Bitcoin. A look back at history reveals numerous instances where people fell victim to kidnapping and murder over traditional assets as well.

To illustrate this with an incident from my own country a few years ago, a freelancer who kept his earnings in cryptocurrency was abducted by corrupt police officers after the fact became known, they extorted an amount exceeding 10 million from him. Since Bitcoin is illegal in our country, he had no legal recourse, and ultimately, having no other option, he brought the matter to the media.

And I believe such incidents actually occur when our financial situation becomes public knowledge; therefore, we should keep our financial information private as much as possible. Because it is not the case that this happens only with Bitcoin.
