They haven’t disclosed the main reason that caused the drain.. but from their own statement, it seems they haven’t even figured it out yet. Normally, you would expect a full lockdown on all activities with such if truly that’s what’s going for real and that’s what they did fn.

Their private key was been compromised and this is the reason they have pointed out on why their hot wallets got drained.

Who knows if Duelbit had been preparing for a day like this which will certainly make them be ready to clear off every debt and continue operation.

No matter the company, $7 million is definitely a big blow to them, that’s months of hard work gone down the drain and even if it actually doesn’t affect them financially it is a big blow to them in terms of reputation. A lot of people would be shocked by this attack and if not handled correctly they may never return to the site again.

There’s no site or company that’s going to be happy to lose this amount to hackers, even if it’s lesser than this they would not be happy that hackers were successfully able to break into their system and get away with $7 million dollars.

Really bad, it's a lot of money. There's no reason for someone(not you) to say that it's lower compared to the other hacks.
Money is money and that's a corporation money that might have included some users funds in the platform.
And they're doing the right thing as they react and to make their users remain calm by their assuring words.

AIs have been trained to induce the severity of fraudulent activities in our crypto ecosystem in general. Hackers were never able to seamlessly find vulnerabilities and break security systems.

Today alone, I have engaged in at least 2 threads and have seen a lot more on either a CEX hack or a casino. I know this was properly orchestrated by these hackers to fall in a time like this. They realized they could make so much money in multi-year bull market like this and AIs (although not in all cases) have enhanced them.

These attackers are intensively increasing each day with their activities, if it's not a news about one crypto platform, it's about a crypto casino platforms, a self custody wallet or cold storage wallets that got hacked or drained. Could this be as a result of advancement in AI, because the access to AI has exposed a lot of information and make hacking more easier for hackers and its tools available to the wrong hands.

Not too long ago, that I got a news that bitget also have got hacked of about $351.6m.

There's nothing terrifying about these hacks anymore. It just feels like the norm. Bitget was also hacked yesterday and about $371M was lost.
Somehow this doesn't just feel normal and to me, it isn't just the adverse effect of AI anymore, bad actors would always look for a professional stunt to lean on while executing planned dirty jobs.

This looks more like an organized hack by a group of white hats turned black hats and there's a lot of insider information involved. These hacks looks like what is sponsored by some very big players, we would find out with time.

Seven million is a huge blow, even for a casino of the size of Duelbits. But I have a hunch and I think they are going to be alright.
I still believe they should have done what they have done and close down their casino in this manner, it will create a lot of FUD among their gamblers, as soon as the casino is up again for people to access their accounts, there are going to be millions of dollars withdrawn from the casino to the wallets of those gamblers, purely out of fear.
It will take a while before people feel comfortable enough to deposit all their gambling money again and things get back to normal.

That was a huge amount of money, and I thought before it's like 4M$ but instead a 7M!? that news is now spreading across the X right now if you are active in that social media, and now they take down the platform to check if there are more compromised with their system and for sure some of the player right now worrying about their funds back there but for sure this will take over like weeks or months before back to operate. It was so hard to recover with that attack and good thing they are not get compromised with their social media and post even a phish links to their users and not spreading the total damages.

I think Joe also confirmed no users funds were tempered with, but regardless, it is a very ugly situation for the company. I hope they will be able to find out the possible cause of this hack. I didn't even know casinos had such amount of crypto in their hot wallet, I mean why so? The only reason I could think of is the demand for instant automated withdrawal, i.e good payout speed but I fill this amount is way too much to be stored in a hot wallet.

And if they can't find it, they'll just blame North Korea for it. What a coincidence that it happened the same day as Bitget got hacked as well. A coordinated attack?

Well, the good thing I guess is that no gamblers lost their money because it's their hot wallets that got affected. As for the amount of money that they have in their hot wallet, I guess we can't deny the fact that Duelbits is one big gambling casino as well just like the likes of Metawin, Sportsbet, and Stake, so it's not surprising especially with how much money they're pouring on their current signature campaign here, and speaking of signature campaign, I wonder if it will get affected after what happened though, but I hope it will not. As for the reputation, it will be affected for the moment, but they'll try to rebuild it that's for sure.

Anyway, Joe also confirmed the "Duelbits 2.0" which will have better security protocols so that it will prevent breaches like this. For sure they'll resume their operations. They just need to replenish their hot wallet. The bad thing about this though is that, there might be some gamblers on Duelbits that will withdraw their money, and will instead gamble on a different website instead, hence decreasing the number of customers, and potential revenue as well.

Another casino gets hacked, well this should come as no surprise to the commners in the crypto space because casinos and exchanges are the biggest targets of hackers.

It just takes one single compromised employee laptop connected to the network to be able to hack the entire system.

From the customer side, it is terrifying to realize the issue if you have funds stored there, which we all try to discourage all the time. Yes they may have targeted the hot wallet for now and the clent funds and hot wallet, cold wallet may be gapped from each other, but you never know.

That post by Joe on X really made a lot of customers feel assured it will be okay. It's a very fast initiative on his side, and I hope all gambling site management will be like this. It's helpful to avoid panic, and every update will be crucial to keep their customers calm, even after what happened.
I think this will strengthen the reputation of their website if they can recover from this. It's best if they do it fast. We know gamblers are really impatient.

I hope Duelbits will be able to absorb the loss. Stake and Metawin were exploited in the past, but they continue rendering gambling service after the hack. I hope Duelbits will also continue the same. Most gambling funds are on cold wallet and not online wallet. Possible only the online wallet will be hacked if this is true.

Well, $ 7 mln. shouldn't look "painful" for a casino like Duelbits. Sure, it's financially "unpleasant" - after all, it's a pretty significant sum, but I think Duelbits will handle it. They might just cancel their signature campaign, perhaps.

People's deposits? I doubt if gamblers will leave up to $7M+ in a casino. Yeah, probably, some gamblers might have left some funds in their casino accounts, but I doubt it will amount to what is being drained. Hopefully, most of their funds are tucked away in a cold storage different from what is being drained, so that it would be easier to bounce back. Although, they already said they'll relaunch, but I'll prefer they don't rush the relaunch; they should take their time and patch every security vulnerability in their codebase and system so there won't be a third time.

I agree with you. Since they've had such experience before, they should be able to absorb it. They should have different hedges to make such incident more bearable, unless they're not wise enough which I doubt—they have a successful business after all. But I think they're unwise to be experiencing such things all over again, going through a second hack and wallet drainage incident reflects very poorly on their security practices, if I'm to be honest.

I think that such casino platforms should be more careful to protect themselves from phishing attacks and at the same time, they should increase the reward amount of bug bounties and continue bug bounties regularly, so that they do not face such situations repeatedly in the future.

Well, truly $7M isn't a small amount—at least to them. Duelbits valuation when it was last updated in 2024 is around $20 million—this valuation was carried out after their first hack incident in 2024, I believe it has increased significantly since then—don't really know how much increase. But, if we use their annual revenue of $6M—just using the available data—then they should be around $30M+, $7M+ loss is around ~24% loss—these are not accurate data, I know there are other factors involved to accurately give a valuation, but just to paint a picture of the level of loss.

What's most concerning is the fact that they've recorded an $11M+ loss through the same method in just a span of 2 years+.

I think no exchange or casino is safe in current times when AI is getting smarter and the agents are getting more intelligent. Hope, in future crypto exchanges and casinos and other crypto platforms will take proper steps to improve their security to leave no loopholes or flaws that could be exploited by hackers but we know such a thing is not possible so there's always going to be such risk.

This is a serious one, in that, in the link provided by the OP, some are saying under the tweet that the exploit is growing up to $7m and not $4+, which is being mentioned, and Duelbit have also confirmed on their official tweet page that they have detected unauthorised access and have taken the site down until everything is resolved.

Duelbit has yet to report what truly transpired on its platform, in an effort to avoid panic among players. I think they should have just come clean so that people who have funds left in the casino will not have high hopes of getting their money back. In the meantime, no one knows which accounts are targeted. High roller accounts, all accounts. It could be anyone.

My bad, I saw a tweet that PeckShield dropped a security alert. One co-founder also confirmed it. Funds are safe as well.
