They also pointed out that this is same incident happened before on Stake on which that casino also lost huge amount of money.

$7m is really a lot of money. But looking at the post of Joe on X, it seems that they are confident that they can return on the operation and recover from said hacking issue.

It's quite common that their wallets have been compromised, but I haven't seen a public official statement yet on how it was compromised. They probably didn't disclose the reason of the previous incidents also.
Maybe they have some strategic reason behind this.
Have you noticed that another casino Bitsler has announced that they are shutting down their business? Even here, Bitsler casino has not given any specific reason, but has simply stated that those who have funds on this platform must withdraw them within the 30th. At the same time, an exchange like Bitget has been hacked for a large amount.

The article used the word “suspected” instead, which is still not an affirmation but a possible way which doesn’t  justify the main cause (what and how) still.. “reason” wasn’t the right word to use [in my post] after all.

You would expect any reputable casino  going through such to be positive &confident  nmw..they are dealing with people’s money and trust.

The amount stolen is high, but I think the gambling site should be able to handle it. What is happening now is letting me think that Duelbits might be affected beyond what we thought. Since the gambling site have gone offline, it is not online till now. That is not looking good at all.

This is just a reason people should not leave their money on any gambling sites. If you want to gamble, you can send money there and which will be credited fast. I only leave the money that is very small on my account on gambling sites which is the amount of money that I can afford to lose and it is very little.

Bitget and Duelbits both got hacked as the same date and their wallets got drained. I think the hacker group might have found a loophole that's why they were able to drain wallets of an exchange and of a casino. Just like Bitget, Duelbits representative also confirmed that the user funds are safe.

I think no exchange or casino is safe in current times when AI is getting smarter and the agents are getting more intelligent. Hope, in future crypto exchanges and casinos and other crypto platforms will take proper steps to improve their security to leave no loopholes or flaws that could be exploited by hackers but we know such a thing is not possible so there's always going to be such risk.

Bitget confirmed the attack was from North Korea called The Lazarus group that once broke into Bybit in large numbers --- Duelbits still has not confirmed the hack from which their analysis team may have found the steps.

We don't know if this hack is AI assisted or they have their own tools to infiltrate with tight security, I believe most people talking AI can help it all, but that's the case now no one is 100% safe.

This is actually very disturbing, duelbits has been one of the most reputable casinos for a long time, this isn't something that anyone would expect to happen. If a casino if such standard Can get hacked does it mean that a lot of casinos are unsafe to use? A lot of people have reasons to believe that what actually happened was from the inside, someone that works for the casino probably gave out the needed informations to hack the casino and also take the informations of gamblers. It could be an inside job, it's a thing that casinos might be the best target right now compared to online crypto exchanges because they aren't that invested in security compare to exchanges.

Casinos are always busy running after marketing, bringing in loads of customers, using bonuses and deposit rewards all for having high numbers of users as possible but not security.

Maybe this will serve as a warning to other online casinos that they should start looking into better advanced security measures for their businesses to avoid future hacks like this one.

This is exactly my thought. First of all, this is not the first time that duelbit has experienced something  like this. My question  to them is, what did they do all these years to strengthen their security? Was the first attack not enough  for them to put in efforts to protect the casino assets?

If Ai tools became much easier to hacker to find look holes, then gambling sites also should use that to strengthen up their defense.

The problem there is those platforms will just take action once they are already affected with similar hacking issues.

Maybe its time for casino to innovate, since hackers now is using the technology to penetrate in their platform. Hacking issues is growing and for sure we could see more bigger attacks  in future.

If you have funds on Duelbit just don't panic if you cannot access the site because they have gone offline to enable them investigate the security incident that have affected the site. I hope that they can overcome the loss and move on with their business here and outside the forum. However, Duelbit is a big casino and it wouldn't take them much time to come back online. Scammers are targeting these big companies nowadays.

True, this AI tools are making it more easier for hackers to access any casino they want, this is one of the disadvantages of AI that someone was talking about, however I also believe that this casino can also use the help of AI to also advance their security, I believe since hackers are now becoming more smart this casinos are also going to increase their security and make it more stronger.

It is quite ironic if you asked me, because all those AI tools which are being used to steal money are actually developed by companies which are based in the United States and also in the European Union, then they are bought or rented by criminals in the eastern part of the world in order to break system of companies which are also located in the United States and Europe...

It makes me wonder how much of liability there is on companies like Google, OpenAi and even Anthropic for allowing cybercriminals to have access to such powerful tools, which can be used to steal millions of dollars from casinos and perhaps even banks.

You have a point here because these hacks cannot just happen without something changing which gives the hackers edge. It could definitely be AI tools and I wonder where all these is heading to. The other day I saw on the news where king of England raises a concern that AI might pose existential threats to human if care is not taken. Now I understand what he might be referring to in that statement. At the same time, two casinos have faced the unfortunate situation of being hacked, one is Bitsler and the other is Duelbit, but the first one has announced to stop their activities and they will turn off all their activities from September 30. But the authorities of Duelbit casino will continue their activities and may return the amount of funds that were hacked to the users. Therefore, they may come up with more updated sites later and they will continue their activities as usual.

I also don’t think that $7 million loss by itself will be critical for large casino like Duelbits. What matter much more now is how they respond to incident, whether users fund will be fully covered, how quickly platform gets back online and whether they explain how the hack actually happened.
But I wouldn’t say yet that it was necessarily caused by negligence or some small mistake on Duelbits side.

Most important thing for Duelbits reputation right now is transparency. If user don’t lose any money then casino clearly explains what happened and they improve their security then damage to their reputation can probably be kept to minimum. Once again this incident shows that size and reputation of any casino can never provide 100% protection against hack.

It's scary how what was created to enhance problem solvings for humans, can also be used as a tool for crime but can't these platforms also use it to enhance their security against loopholes that could give hackers access to penetrate them? This is a warning to other platforms to take their security more seriously or risk their business to hackers.

Although i feel suspicious about the whole situation, breach of privacy then sudden hacks on different crypto platforms, these hackers have taken their skills to another level, too bad they're using it for crime.

You are absolutely not retarded. I thought the same and I couldn't hold it back as I felt irked by the whole situation, so I had to express myself. I can also agree on the tax implications. That's a huge amount and they probably hid some from the irs on the tax inclusion list, perhaps they know the government will eventually rat them out now that everything has been exposed Eehh?

Although IMO, I think it's more of an organized scam that an insider is part of, than just an attempt of tax evasion.

Just last month, we were spooked by the sudden news from the coldcard hack--- remember this happened to a non-custodial hardware wallet and they still managed to find an excuse for it. Over $130 million was gone without a trace. This another fresh attack today, this time from a hot wallet--- $352 million worth of crypto stolen, but this time around, the cold storages are safe.  Has anyone else not seen the pattern? This is clearly an attack on crypto and wish I was wrong.

Their funds are safe, according to the Duelbit Co-founder. He is assuring everyone who has an account with Duelbit that nothing has happened to their funds. With that assurance, it is ok for players who have their funds reserved in their Duelbit account to feel safer. If Duelbit settles everyone despite this drainage of $7mil it will increase their reputation to a higher standard. It is not all big casinos will pay players back their funds that were
 stolen in the casino. It's not a matter of whether they have the money to do it. It's a matter of whether they are willing to do it.

Which casino would have more reputation, the one that has never been hacked and have their funds removed or in the case this case, the one that has been hacked and still managed to pay back everyone whose funds was involved?

You already mentioned that no user funds were affected, so I don't think there's really anything that needs to be settled here.

Those two should come together, because even if they are willing but they don't have the money, they still would not be able to pay.

So the first requirement is they have the money, and the second is they are willing to pay. They already assured that they will refill their hot wallet, and once they are fully back, users will be able to withdraw their funds if they already lost trust in Duelbits.

But I doubt Duelbits will just leave and scam users because what they lost can probably be recovered in a year with continuous operations. They already built their reputation to where they are now, and if they pay everyone, that will actually help strengthen their reputation. It would not make sense to scam users and start a new casino from scratch again.
