the wait time thing catches everyone. first time i swapped BTC to something i sat there refreshing convinced something had gone wrong 😭 turned out it was just waiting on bitcoin confirmations. ~10 min a block and you need more than one

These swaps aren't recommended and I will discourage you from doing any swap directly from your Ledger straight to these exchanges which might require to sign the transaction.

Apart from that, if you still own a Ledger then you better find another hardware wallet e.g Trezor models.

Instant exchanges have full control over the deposit addresses they provide and the wallets they use to process transactions. This means that they can freeze your funds for whatever reason and aren't non-custodial.

Changelly and Changenow are nowhere near being noncustodial. If you want to prove this, read through the reviews, and you will see that they have blocked/frozen funds of quite a number of users. That is something a noncustodial service cannot do.

People prefer instant swaps that won't request for KYC verification and we have about a dozen of them in this forum

Everyone uses something different and from what I know while ledger live uses Changelly or ChangeNow, Exodus has theirs also and these days most self custody wallets has gone ahead to integrate these services into their interface of which makes manual comparison across different sites obsolete in more ways than one.
Have you tried using ThorChain? Maybe you could find it better a choice than the one you are used to.

If decentralisation isn't a priority for you, Changelly and ChangeNOW are perfectly fine options, and they're integrated into various self-custody wallets. Personally, though, I'd prefer a DEX like Uniswap for serious dealings because, despite Changelly and ChangeNOW offering swaps without requiring a conventional custodial exchange account, they're still centralised intermediaries in the transaction.

But that's by the way, as I suppose your fees and speed experience are the major reasons for your post.

We need to understand that convenience and trust aren't the same. Integrating a swap service into Ledger live makes it easier to use but it doesn't guarantee that the service is safe or genuinely non custodial. Instead of assuming that everything about a platform is fine, I'll take my time and examine how it actually operates and that's because it's hardware wallet and any mistake can be very costly.

I'm usually afraid to try some platforms when swapping from one cryptocurrency to the other beause some of them are scams waiting to happen. To reduce the risk of losing my money, I try to stick to some of the popular instant exchanges in this forum, some of which are pretty fast and the only real delay in the entire process is the time taken for blockchain confirmation. I have not had any other problem using those instant swap exchanges, so I guess I can recommend a few of them especially those that are active in this forum like I said before.

What kind of swaps are you making? if you're swapping in a blockchain that supports real non custodial swap, then you better be using them. I'm not talking about pseudo-non custodial swap that still being able to freeze your money and the non custodial part is just gimmicks, I'm talking about real non custodial dex where users can be automated market maker in the pool and another user could swap through that pool like uniswap, pancakeswap, jupiter, and so on. They're better solution, often time have less spread, cheaper, and don't freeze on a whim. I've been using these almost everyday without a problem. Shouldn't mistake true custodial decentralized exchange with instant swap that aren't non custodial.

I have seen some swap services on this forum that are advertised, I have used two among them, they are also good. You can be using the exchanges that you are taking about for the exchange of coins but there are some people that like privacy that will prefer no KYC. Changelly and ChangeNow would have been a good option but they are seizing people coin at anytime they like. I will not mention names but you can see some good swap exchanges that some people are campaigning for on the forum.

Changelly and Changenow are from a same owner group, developer group (Evercode Lab) and it does not have good reputation.

You have given a link to one of the reasons such exchanges should not be used, I do not think anyone that know what these instant exchanges have done that want privacy will go for such instant exchanges. What that will be better is to just stay away from the exchanges. It is possible someone can be very ignorant or thinking he is safe and try to exchange some coins and his coins be seized.

I feel like that has already happened. The number of instant swaps services are increasing for example. I can't imagine they can keep doing that if the market doesn't respond well to them. Their promotion on forum through sigs or banners are also massive. That being said, we'll still have issues with fiat-crypto swaps if convenience is what a user is looking for.

I've tried various services and so far they works well. Not suitable for traders though.

There are many instant swap no kyc platform already. Using cex is indeed have some sort of cons, but there are also pros like the convenience to convert your usdt or crypto into fiat using P2p. This is why I am still using the Binance app cause of this cause it can help me convert my crypto asset into fiat. Whereas it so hard to do a crypto > fiat on noncustodial dex unless you know some trusted guy you can personally do some trades.

Yes, I'm aware of that and both of them can't even be in the list of my alternative preferences. I only approve of what the OP already known and use them for, and not for the absolute choice and safety measure. Being centralised swappers alone is a red flag for me.

I agree but that will also be the time that the government will look into them.
I guess that I am seeing it come to the instaswaps that they'll not be able to escape regulations by then.
But, we will see on which ones will be left standing still and considered as the real decentralized and non custodial swaps when that time comes.

I tried to experience this both platform. Once you swap with the trezor is you can use this option with swapping and then you can get an option to choose for the rates if you wanted, and most of the time I swapped tooks me over 1 hour and above so compared with the non-kyc exchange ive been using is this quite gives stressful to me imagine how much time I need to wait before getting my funds so of course I dont have other options its either their feature exchange or use a centralized exchange, thats why I do not swap a large sum of coins too.
