In some parts of the world, the people are not ready for public toilets and street trash cans, should we ban those too?

Yeah, except for the last 100 years whatever the 4% has done it has influenced the rest!
In 2009 the USA got a cold, the end of the world nearly ended in a coma.
In 2021 they started printed money, inflation in other countries started running out of zeros to add.

The problem is AI that is honestly kinda dumb.

Humans as a whole is the destruction of themselves, based on the fact that we feel we can create and control anything just because we actually do create stuffs, A.I should be absolutely put on hold for now due to the destruction it causes, we might look at it like a minor thing until we can actually control our creation a 100%. Because right now we cannot even differentiate a real video from a fake one, A.I is becoming so strong that we have no power to control anymore. We should at least try to make things easy without the help of A.I but that alone is a bit impossible due to how far we've come. we have come to the stage where we surely do depend on the help of Artificial Intelligence.

For me i feel 100% that the world at large ain't really ready for the usage of A.I we should slow down the progress by 70%.

When do you think is going to be the best time? In my opinion, I think the best time still remains now because the problems you are cautious of will still exist even if AI is introduced tomorrow.

Maybe what AI needs is regulation at this point to ensure that its introduction is not damaging. Maybe people need to be educated on the proper use of this Artificial Intelligence before the people who use it for bad purposes get to them and teach them the bad side instead of the good side of the technology.

I think, I also support this OP. AI has really drained a lot of big companies this year and how long will we just fold our arms and watch criminals steal everything from us because it's digital. The ban of AI will paralyze these hackers activities and make them suffer hard before they can get anything.

AI is causing more harm to investors than good which shouldn't be so. The fact is that humans are greedy and they take advantage of any new technology to carry out their criminal act. AI is good but it's used in the wrong way.

I get your point but there are other things to look at. No doubt AI has made it way easier for people to check out for vulnerabilities in codes.  This is not the major concern for me because it’s known to most developers that AI could easily do that. Then they just needed to be prepared for it. I think what we need to do is to also try to see how the use of AI can be integrated in checking those vulnerabilities that AI could easily identify i mean solving those issues with AI before another person discovers them and use them again us. That is the only way I think this could be done now because with the way The  AI is going, I don’t think any of this complaint or bill will be heard.

Putting AI on hold completely is not a solution to it. It needs proper control. Whenever there is any technological advancement there is always risk involved with it and same thing is happening with AI. Problem is that institutions are not trying to develop any proper regulations that are fast enough to keep up with its growth.

AI is tool and it is helping in a lot of fueld including healthcare, research, business and education. We cannot ignore benefits that we are getting from it just because there are people who are misusing that technology. It is the responsibility of the government to make clear rules, instead of just banning it. If there is a complete ban, it is going to create a lot of problems because countries that are developing AI will stop it and fall behind those who are continuing with it without any restriction. The world need proper and responsible development; it does not need technological shutdown.

I thought I am the only one thinking that AI come with some disadvantage in high makes it looks like we are not ready don’t because there are so many complains of AI taken our jobs and also AI being used for criminal activities. I know that so many people are happy with AI because it has generated sources of income for so many people across the world, but people are using it in a negative way because it makes their work easier especially scammers because all these exchange hacks are associated with the use of AI which help the scammers to have easy access to some sensitive information that help them in carrying out the scam.

Nothing can develop so fast that we won't be ready for it. AI isn't as amazing as many people think but it's quite good at accelerating the working process, so I see nothing wrong into developing it at the temp it's developing right now. And even if it develops faster than we will be ready, there is nothing we can do because there are open-source LLM models, that are getting better and better every day and how are they gonna control open-source LLM models? Maybe they'll stop giants like Claude and OpenAI but you have other countries as competitirs. What if China doesn't stop? Then why will the US slow down? Or what if other country doesn't stop? How can they force a 3rd country? It's not a nuclear weapon, it's a virtual thing.
Whether we are ready or not, there is nothing to stop this.

I don’t follow American politics much so I may be missing the backstory here. Why would the Americans be pushing for ban on “AI super intelligence” when other countries will not be doing the same. Doesn’t that put America at a disadvantage?

I am not sure but and I was thinking that this could be connected to the rampant hacks that are happening not only with the crypto wallets and exchanges but also with the banks from different countries.

The world is ready for AI but the world is abusing the use of AI. Don't forget that new innovations has advantage and disadvantage so the world priorities the use of the disadvantage over the advantage. You are not the first person saying AI will destroy the world, but I could tell you that AI will better the world also.

It all depends on the usage and what it's for, you don't capitalize to use it on the weakness of a body to feel great and important, that's actually manipulation, it's better to use for the betterment and not for oppression and humiliation.

I don't know why people are involving AI with politics. AI is a technology accepted by many, not a tech made by one political party. Both the democrats and the Republicans actually benefit from AI, so why are some democrats trying to push to stop AI, saying it's a policy made by the republicans? It doesn't make sense at all. I think thats pure bullshit.  Ban AI to stop hackers?  Come on.  Thats like saying we should ban the internet because scammers use email...

You think a ban on AI will paralyze hackers?  How, exactly?  Hackers have existed almost since the day the first digital systems were networked, and criminals have existed for as long as human civilization has.  Its not an AI problem, its a security and human greed problem like you said at the end, but nuking the tech is not going to magically make cybercrime vanish overnight.

AI is not going to stop, nor should it really, as it is a bit like the advent of the internet or the mobile phone. It unlocks all kinds of possibilities, cures for medicine or improvements to space travel. It's able to make connections and generate ideas that people have never thought possible. It will put some people out of a job and politicians have to wake up to that new reality by figuring out how to keep society fair. A clamp down on greedy billionaires who sit on vast piles of money for half a lifetime when it could help millions of people live a better life instead. Billionaires are parasites in many cases and while regulated capitalism is the only way, there should be a better distribution of wealth and more effective taxes at a certain point. We definitely need to build some kind of controls into AI to stop it becoming sentient, but chances are it could override such logic regardless. You have to adapt to the new reality and attempt to ban it, rather than mastering it, will only mean you get left behind.

I don't want to believe what has been circulating the internet since yesterday. I understand their frustration with AI abuses but I'm not sure if democrats would be so stupid to want to kill AI. The worst that would happen is regulations. There are has been widespread of AI use wrongly even though there has been a development and the wrong use isn't even the tech I'm talking about, I'm talking about how AI has messed up the writing system. Students don't read again, they don't researched, they just go to AI to digest AI slops, this is not helping, the graduates produced today can't do things on their own, they don't even know because they used AI.

Social media is full of AI slop, you can't read a conversation on any app without seeing AI slops, the replies lack meaning, you could tell even from the first paragraph, these are the things we are consuming every day not mention the hack and exploit everyday and there has not been a clear regulations on these things. We can't kill the tech but regulations will restrict many thing.

The topic of Ai being a threat has been a major debate and a lot of people are yet to actually decide on the fact about being a threat or not. There has been a lot of conspiracy theories about this and most people believe that this would lead to end of humanity and at the same time there are people that don't believe this, they are the ones that are of the opinion that Ai is actually important.


Personally, I would say that Ai has done more good than harm, there's no certainty to know if this would be disastrous to the human race in the future but one thing people should focus on is that Ai was created to make what we do a lot easier, most of these conspiracy theories are not really important or relevant.

There have always been people that opposed change and new technologies and time has shown that they are the ones that lags behind. The time and tech won't stop for anyone. If they would stop pursing AI, some other would and this would just push them further to accelerated decline.
US has been a declining society, the people knew it and wanted to do something about it, Trump came with big promises, they believed and voted for him but he failed to deliver, rather he created much more difficult circumstances than it were before him, so now the people in US are trying to choose slower decline than a fast one but with US in backfoot with AI development, China would win pass it in a couple of years and the world would be using Chinese tech, which might even be better for the world on comparison.

AI development affects different areas of society. It affects power, water, employment, and other sectors. The topic of Ai being a threat has been a major debate and a lot of people are yet to actually decide on the fact about being a threat or not. I don’t think Artificial Intelligence should be put on a hold completely. I believe there should be limits to what it can do and access, especially when it comes to things that could harm the society.

I also think they should place it on hold too because if time is not taking it might get to the point where powerful AI will now be controlling people's mind and it will cause more harm than good. I was in a salon yesterday making my hair and a young teen was so into conversing with his phone, he was doing voice note and I thought just may be he was discussing with a school mate or his friend till the hair stylist said it's AI and i was surprised to see how a young boy is so consumed with that and I'm pretty sure there are lots of tennager like him too.

However, I don't know if the ban of AI will work out but if there's a way that the government can regulate it so that it doesn't cause harm or have a way of controlling human later in future then fine, the ban of AI will also cause some falls of business since mostly every business owner uses them for their businesses. I think it should be regulated and the government should work hand in hand with the AI companies so they know how powerful it is and the kind of things being stored inside before they release it out for people to use. Some adult can control and discipline themselves on how they use it but how about children who are being introduced to gadgets now and some teens have rather made this AI their best companion and best friend like the tennager I talked about so the government should looked into it.
