It will be $10k per BTC when it gets used very very widely. As a result of wide use there will be more demand than supply.Demand>supply increases value.I am guessing it might happen in a year or two,but who knows maybe even earlier.

IMO never. BTC can be worth more than gold but not 10 times. Why push it, if the price reaches $2k everyone who invested will be rich anyway.

Forget the $1m & $100,000 predictions, what's everyone's opinion on when bitcoin will hit $10,000?
When market cap reaches around 160 billion. Might be when they start to use btc as way to pay for oil, but I see some US interventions before that coming true.

For sure? What makes you so confident in that prediction?

Not sure about this year, but it's hard to imagine that it would take more than a few years, maybe 3-4. Either that, or BTC will likely have not achieved adoption, and will wane in value considerably.

maybe this year, maybe next. maybe never. bitcoin will always surprise -- both directions. i wouldnt be surprised to see it plunge to sub-$50, and go back up over $1000, then onto $10,000. vice versa. you never know. hard to predict this market.

Actually, it is really impossible to predict ANY market. I have learned this from being in the stock market for a good number of years. I have talked to a number of (professional) investors in the stock market, and they refuse to make long-term predictions because you can't predict what is going to happen in the future! All you can do is look at "trends" from the past and invest accordingly. Investments must always be long-term. People tend to sell when prices fall, and when there is a "bull market", then they want to get in. By the time there is a "bull market", it is too late to get in. There has to be good solid reasons for any market to go up. There has to be good news that produces confidence for investors. This is what I see lacking for bitcoin right now.

But we've also (%-wise) been seeing increasingly less volatile bubbles, so it's certainly possible in my mind that the next one tops out at $4000 or $5000. If we get one. Never know.

Either way it will be very exciting for holders of bitcoin to see the price reach those levels. A price of 4k will likely entice a lot of large early adopters to sell their holdings, making it so the holdings are not as concentrated. If we don't reach 10k in the next bubble, then we certainly would in the 2nd bulbble from now.

I think ebay and a big retailer like amazon would be needed for bitcoin to reach 10,000. 2000-5000 may be more likely, and that could be a year or two. It may also never get more than 1000 again, we don't know.

It's hard to say what is needed, really. If we were to see ETFs, a lot of institutional money that would never otherwise flow into BTC could get in. These types of investment firms have billions in holdings. Imagine.....

What I wonder about is if it'll drag alt prices along with it, or if bitcoin will go crazy while alts go down. It's weird to think of coins like litecoin or darkcoin being worth several hundred or more per coin, but if bitcoin is 10,000 and alts keep pace, that's about where they may be.

It might be come time that the wheat gets cut from the chaff for a lot of altcoins. We could see similar action to the late 2013 bubble, where alts were suppressed more and more, until they saw huge rallies near the top of the BTC/USD bubble.
