so I have a POS mining question
I bought mintcoin awhile ago and then I loaded my wallet and unlocked it and such and for some reason when I opened it a few weeks ago my income never went up.
So if I want to POS mine my coins, do I need to keep the wallet open at all times? ie- if I want to POS pandacoin I need to leave my computer on, with the wallet open for the next 2 years sorta dealeo?
Thanks.
Yes. This is necessary, because you still secure the network, validating transactions. So it is different from mining because you don't share enormous amounts of hashpower, but by keeping the wallet on, you still contribute to the background crytpwork. Ah ok, wish I knew this. I've been missing out on thousands of Mintcoins then by not having it open. Damn.... You haven't missed out on any. PoS will be generated after at least 20 days holding of the coins in your wallet. You don’t need to keep the wallet open all the time. The coin-days accumulated in your wallet will not be lost. The next time when you open the wallet client, the internal miner will start automatically and if the coin holding period meet certain requirements the pos blocks will be generated based on the coin-days in your wallet. Make sure you have the latest Mintcoin wallet should be v1.9.1.0 I'm fairly sure, but they did have a problem just one rev back I think with minting

It looks like Earthwatch ( http://pnd4pnd.com/pages/earthwatch/) and ISIS ( http://pnd4pnd.com/pages/isis/) could use a little more attention. On that note, for every unique picture of a panda posted in this thread over the next 24hrs I'll donate 10k to one of the pnd4pnd.com funds. If you want a specific fund to receive the donation, just say so. 330,000 PND total donated You guys are awesome. F**k it, for every unique picture of a panda posted in this thread until POS kicks in I'll donate 10k to one of the pnd4pnd.com funds. Doesn't seem like much tbh lol maybe I'm just greedy
The price will be nowhere near today's level in one year.

Where can one trade PND and DOGE? I reckon this is a currency pair that could do pretty well on exchanges.

Right now buying LTC instead of DOGE will net you more PND actually.

Right now buying LTC instead of DOGE will net you more PND actually. Thanks to both of you. I think with DOGE so Stable™ and some looking to get out or trade while they wait on its value to rise, it could end up being quite an active market. It seems like it's lacking liquidity on swisssex.

The Daily Panda Proof of Stake Wallet version 2.0.0 is now available! Update your wallet to prepare for the PoS rollout!Wallet version 2.0.0 is now available on https://github.com/pandacoin-official/pandacoin and as binary. A few things to consider before updating: 1. You NEED to back up your wallet.dat. The software will automatically do a copy but it's better to be sure. 2. The wallet will take around 10 minutes reindexing so please be patient. 3. The wallet might crash and give an error after importing (Windows 7 has been tested successfully). This is okay - just start the wallet again and you should be good to go. The wallet is available to download under the following links: win32 standalone| win32 setup| mac| linux| srcPoS begins from block #136113. There are 121,589,268 PND left to mine before PoS implementation! Download our new Pandacoin (PND) wallet so that you would be ready for the PoS rollout! probably not a new idea but...
did you guys think about looking for a promising online game that might accept PND as in-game currency? if said game goes viral, PND might get a big boost. or maybe there are some pandas in here who are good at Unity3D ... why not creating a PANDA SIMULATOR 2014?
or
maybe a chaotic flash online game with dozens of users in one room, each represented by one fat panda who bicker with each other to get the most bamboo (real PND) per level. the PND might come from a donor or the users themselves who put some PND in the game before the level starts
the longer I think about it, the more I think we might create a game monster that way.
people would buy more PND to put into the game to look like big spenders and to show off before other pandas. other pandas want to play the game longer and longer to become more skilled and therefore get more bamboo.

What will be the annual total inflation of the coin? Just say, there are 2 million staking wallets open all year, thus earning their potential 2.5% interest.

I like the name but I'm getting sick of coins with ridiculous max amounts (over 10B)
It is these coins with a "ridiculous max amounts" that actually have serious plans to be widely used as a form of currency in the future, instead of being another 'alt-commodity' like bitcoin. Just think of most fiat currencies and see how much of it is in circulation. You don't see only 21 million USD being circulated and used worldwide do you? I wonder if people later on when crypto is more mainstream and accepted by the majority of the populatoin, if they would psychologically prefer to pay 0.000309 of X cryptocurrency or 1.29 of Y cryptocurrency for a can of coke, or get paid a weekly wage of .309 of X cryptocurrency or 1290 of Y cryptocurrency. Think about the above for a second, and have a read of the dev's official vision statement of the direction that they want to take the coin. Pandacoin (PND) has the fundamentals to be a serious contender to be THE gateway crypto for the internet, over in SE Asia, and even large parts of the Western market. Think of what we're seeing now in the current alt-coin space as a dot-com bubble similar to what happened in the late 1990's. When the bubble crashes, the survivors will become the equivalent of the Googles, Ebays and Amazons of the future alt-coin space. I personally predict that much of the coins that DO NOT have a 'ridiculous max amounts' will die off during the equivalent of the next 'alt-coin' crash. When you have a small coin cap, the coin is automatically grouped with Bitcoin. Most simply can not replace bitcoin, which have the first movers advantage, adoption and is still having infrastructure added towards their ecosystem. Long story short - If a coin does not have a high coin cap, they are not a serious contender to be used as a form of currency at all, and shall die off in the next alt-coin crash, similar to the dot.com crash of the late 1990's. Pandacoin PND has all the fundamentals to be one of the survivors of that inevitable alt-coin crash, and has the inherent qualities which could make it function as a unit of exchange (definition of a currency) in the future. Couldnt have said it any better myself Hopefully the day will come, when i can buy drinks/food with my PND.. Or even visit a zoo too see some pandas Same, I look forward to making my online purchases with my cute lil Pandas

Considering PND as a long term investment, professional team of devs with good ideas, dedicated to the coin. This can lead us far away also below points 4 long-t investment pnd! So Pandacoin has no premine and no IPO. Other Proof of Stake (PoS) coins such as Blackcoin and Cinnicoin can say that too. But there is one thing that the other coins can't say.. Pandacoin has 3 months Proof of Work distribution phase which lasted from Feb 16, 2014 to May 21, 2014 . That is a total of 94 days! Blackcoin has a total of 7 days mining phase. Cinnicoin has a total of 3 days mining phase. Those coins can say it's not 'premine' but with such as short mining phase it might as well be premine. Anyway, I'm looking forward to May 21 when PND switched over to PoS. In the meatime, I'll continue stocking up and mining PND.
This x100. Pandacoin PND is going to stand out among all the other POS coins JUST because of this single factor. Not to mention all the other reasons why we're awesome Fairest PoS coin out of all PoS coins? Check Honest coin with fair launch, no ipo, premine or instant mining? Check Terrific marketing with name + symbol of panda ? Check High coin cap so it can function as a currency and not a commodity? Check Crazyily dedicated devs that saw this coin even through dark single digit litoshi times? Check Actually making efforts to abuse the terrific marketing over in China? Check I have high expectations for PND, and for good reasons too. I support the notion that this could be THE gateway coin to reach the general population, as stated by the devs in their vision statement. It can be doge 2.0 without the meme or incompetent deoge devs that do not want to keep up with the new alt coin tech and can actually be taken seriously by the public, either start off in China or even via the internet. I for one, like where this is going! You forgot that it's already on a tier 1 exchange - mintpal for both btc/and ltc markets. So... Already on a tier 1 exchange? Check Also only coin with a territorial theme with a higher chance of adoption twards the East. PND actually has a growing chinese community - 155 fans on weibo since PND-Chinese joined the dev team and 270 on the chinese QQ chat! And this is only the start Friendly bump on why PND is awesome and why some of the current popular coins such as Blackcoin, Darkcoin and CINNI are short sighted and will most likely die off due to their questionable pre/instamines - > http://www.devtome.com/doku.php?id=a_massive_investigation_of_instamines_and_fastmines_for_the_top_alt_coinsThis link opened my eyes and taught me on what to look out for in order to find the honest coins. PND is going to stand out as the only PoS coin with more than 3 months of PoW distribution/mining phase!

Definitely an interesting read. The author could use to do a bit more investigation into how the various instamines were possible, but it really shows the potential for a solid coin like PND.
