"ROKOS" Initial Setup

1.- Download and Burn the ROKOS Image to a micro SD Card like you would with any other Pi Distro.
March 01 2016
ROKOS v5 "flavors" - DOWNLOAD

Steps for first boot

*Raspberry Pi 2:
User: pi / Password: raspberry , follow normal setup.

a) Type: sudo raspi-config
b) Set your Time Zone, change your pi user password and Expand the file system, restart.
After restart the system you can type:  "startx"   to start the user desktop.
c) System ready for use.

Welcome to the ROKOS Desktop

Final steps / BTC and OK Clients

a) Go to Menu > Internet and Click on your favorite Cryptocurrency Wallet

This will open the Cryptocurrency wallet and start sync.

*For some Cryptocurrencies the initial sync might take some days, wallets are fully usable after being fully Synchronized.

b) Always remember to make constant backups of your wallets and save them in USB or external media.

Use your wallets in ROKOS to plug HW and mine, Send/Receive, Stake, Share,
become a full node and support your favorite Cryptocurrency network, develop new applications,
etc, the limit is only in your imagination.

Important Security Notice:
*) Remember to create a backup for your Wallets, you can use the wallets to create them and save in different folders on a USB device.
You should ALWAYS have a backup of your wallet, Raspberry Pi Hardware, Raspbian and ROKOS Software are under development hence not responsible for missuses, electrical or compatibility issues that might cause a loss of information. It is as secure as one's ability to take care for it, same as a computer, so always have a backup of your wallets on an external device.

*) Some people tend to recommend getting a 128Gb MicroSD HC (High speed) , at the same time it does work, I do not recommend this solution, as microSD cards tend to get corrupted by the number of overwrites, to ensure the best functionality and security you should use an external HDD/USB storage device to store the chains.

You can start testing and developing new integration with ROKOS and your favorite cryptocurrencies for your IoT projects.

"Empower yourself and build your own Bitcoin and Cryptocurrencies Fullnode Guide"

ROKOS Guide from zero! Full steps for New Users
by SwedishBitMiner

---Prepare the MicroSD/MicroSDHC card---

(I did this on a Windows computer, and I dont know what tool to use for Mac to install the iso file Image burner, for this guide you will have to figure out that yourself, if you use Mac)

1. Download and install SD Formatter 4.0 (This is the tool to format the SD card) from:
Windows: https://www.sdcard.org/downloads/formatter_4/eula_windows/SDFormatterv4.zip
Mac: https://www.sdcard.org/downloads/formatter_4/eula_mac/SDFormatter_4.00B.pkg
(or find it yourself at: https://sdcard.org/downloads)

2. Insert the MicroSD/MicroSDHC card into your PC/Mac. (You will probably need an MicroSD to SD adapter for this).

3. Start SD Formatter 4.0 and click the [Option] button. In there you change from "FORMAT TYPE: QUICK" to "FORMAT TYPE: (FULL)Erase", just leave the "FORMAT SIZE ADJUSTMENT" in OFF and click the [OK] button so start the format. When the card is completely formatted click the [Exit] button to close SD Formatter.

4. Download and install Win32 Disk Imager (This is the iso file Image burner) from:
Windows: http://sourceforge.net/projects/win32diskimager/files/latest/download

5. Download ROKOS Core (rokos5.img.zip) and unzip the ISO file (This is the awesome ROKOS Core "Operating System" that we are going to install on the SD card) from:
Download: http://bit.ly/rokos5flavors
(or find it yourself at: http://rokos.space

6. Start Win32 Disk Imager, press the "little blue folder" and select the "rokos5.img" file that you did extract. Make sure your SD card is selected in the list to the right and press the [Write] button. It will tell you that it can corrupt the SD card, just press [Yes] to continue the installation, when the installation to the SD card is done press the [Exit] button to close Win32 Disk Imager.

7. Now "Safely remove" your SD card from the computer.

8. Put the MicroSD/MicroSDHC card in your Raspberry Pi 2, and make sure you got an USB Keyboard, Monitor (via HDMI), and and Internet cable connected to the Raspberry Pi 2 before you connect the power cable to your Raspberry Pi 2.

---Installing ROKOS ---
(The first boot of ROKOS )

1. Type:
Code:
sudo raspi-config
(and press enter)

2. Select:
Code:
1. Expand Filesystem
(and press enter) press enter again on the <Ok> button.

3. Select:
Code:
2. Change user password
(and press enter) press enter again on the <Ok> button. Type a new password (you will not see the letters) and press enter, type your new password again, and press enter. Then press the <Ok> button.

4. Select:
Code:
5. Internationalization Options
(and press enter) Then select:
Code:
I2. Change Timezone
(Choose your timezone)

5. Press the "TAB" button on your keyboard two times to get to the <Finish> button, and press enter. Then choose <Yes> to restart your system.

6. Type:
Code:
startx
(and press enter) your system will now start up and you are DONE!

ENJOY THIS AWESOME OPERATING SYSTEM!

OK is open-source; its design is public, nobody owns or controls OK and everyone can take part.

Thanks a lot.

I tried also with -G but it won't work. Says something about not enough memory....

So yes I used also the address to check my stats but it shows nothing and it's more than 24 hours since I mined on nicehash.

Seems I have to search deeper Sad
Requires 3G mem on card I think I read somewhere, what GPU u using (I have 280x and 7950) both 3G mem and 4G system ram in mining rig

without the -G you were mining with CPU or not at all?

From the help file:
-G,--opencl  When mining use the GPU via OpenCL.

The algorithm is memory hard and in order to fit the DAG into memory, it needs 1-2GB of RAM on each GPU. If you get Error GPU mining. GPU memory fragmentation? you havent got enough memory.

I have 2xRadeon 5970 each one has 2Gb Ram. The system RAM is 12GB. Without the -G I think the CPU was mining as you are saying...
What is GPU memory fragmentation?

Thanks,
Bogdan

Does your mobo maybe have integrated graphics? I ve had a situation where it tried to mine with that GPU by default. Even 5970 s at the edge of being useful for Ether. Anything lower then 280x level s not that fun.

No, it doesn't have integrated graphics. DMD mining is working flawless with sgminer, but if I want to use NicehashMiner or etherminer to mine ether it's not working. Sad

thank you bye

please contact the pool operators with that questions
we are busy prepare wallet 2.1
to busy to hold-pool-operators hands
we did tell them and community to spread hashrate between pools so the dont
damage their user and waste their electricity

but always one pool ends at above 25% of total generated blocks
which means over 50% of POW hashrate (because 50% of our blocks are POS blocks)

and so much hashrate at a single pool create a high risc that the pool can fork himself away

the way DMD Diamond network is secured with hybrid POW/POS security
its the pool and his miners just damage himself

the network itself stay unharmed

there is a responsibility at pool owners and pool users to make sure hashrate split between pools

if pools and pool user cant manage this then the network just fine by driven by solo miners at it is now

its time miners mature a bit a not jump aways mining on biggest pool

same as now we have two working pools and all just jump mining on one......

good news we had over 1000 finished BTC -> DMD Conversion rounds at https://multipool.bit.diamonds/
average of two times daily since its start (most days one multipool and one cloudmining payout rounds which both use same BTC-DMD conversion engine)

to celebrate this today i double the DMD CLoudmining payout out of my own pocket

enjoy!

over 213000 DMD redistributed between multipool and cloudmining users another great number!

I built it on Ubuntu and it work fine with my 390X - it requires 2GB of GPU memory at this time.
When the DAG gets bigger than 2GB, they you have to get better GPUs.

I'm testing my old 5970 tonight, but I'll bet it works fine.

R9 390X Smiley wow I'm out of date ... looking over specs, price a bit high for me, maybe a R9 380X Smiley when the need for it arises.  280X and 7950 still working just a lot of fan noise LOL (running constant for 3 yrs).
Fans on 280X stalling frequently, got a couple 120mm case fans zip tied on for now till I can find replacement cheap Smiley

Requesting is the only way i am aware of... i think if we all request and promote it to others, it might work ?  Huh

How can I get a coin listed on Poloniex?
You can submit your request using our Coin Request Form.

Poloniex reviews coin submissions and makes decisions based on several criteria. Where applicable, a coin must have:

A block explorer
A website
A unique genesis block
A compiled wallet
We also conduct a thorough code review before a coin is added on our exchange. In addition, we like to see evidence of the developers' dedication to the project, community interest, and above all else, innovation. If you feel your coin is truly innovative, we want to hear about it.

Poloniex never requests payments to list coins. If you are contacted by any party soliciting payments while claiming to represent Poloniex, please notify us at contact@poloniex.com immediately.

Thanks,
Bogdan

Even if your card has 2GB of memory, it may not be addressed in such a way that malloc can allocate all of it in one contiguous chunk, which is what the eth miner is trying to do for the DAG file. for most miners it is recommended to set the environment variable GPU_MAX_ALLOC_PERCENT=100. This makes all of the memory onboard available to the miner, but does not solve the fragmentation/chunking issue. Try also using GPU_SINGLE_ALLOC_PERCENT=100 to get around this. this worked for my 2GB 7850's.

Use the ---opencl list devices option with the -G flag to show info on your GPUs. There will be 2 memory sizes shown, the total and the max single contiguous memory. If the above commands worked they should be roughly the same and near 2GB. If not, the second item will be substantially smaller.
