Scary moment there. I updated (blockchain was stuck) and it welcomed me to my "brand new [and empty] account". Balance turned up a few seconds later and the blockchain is now updating. Phew... Hmm it shouldn't say that if the blockchain is downloading.

ForgeCoin looks interesting to me in the above list of upcoming asset offers, but .85 BTC seems a bit expensive for an Antminer S1. They seem to be going for about .5 BTC these days. Still, if there are no extra charges for power use that could turn out to be a good deal. That's not clear from the ad, though. Is there no extra charge for power? (other than the "management fee" of 3% of the revenues, which seems reasonable) I've never mined before, so I don't know how much the real monthly power costs amount to. It's a cool idea though, I'd consider buying in if the price and payout are actually competitive with what it would cost me to set up my own rig. That being said, as a NXT investor I'm completely against the very idea of mining You would have to follow the link and ask directly I'm afraid. I am meaning to put the 'promoter' name to each listing to (jl777 for example).

thanks for message,so many useful links.nxt is the future! Bithaus have posted on the thread above with good news. We (Bithaus) are definitely interested in being listed on the Asset Exchange. For now as a short-term solutions several investors of Bithaus are selling their assets in Bithaus through their very own Exchange Traded Fund.
What we are waiting for is the green lights of our regulators in Switzerland. If that is sorted, you can rest assured that we will put our entire business on the AE!
More to be announced soon.
We'll just have to wait for the announcement

Anyone know how long a blockchain download should take?
After updating to the newest wallet version, my computer downloaded the blockchain just a few hours ago. It took less than 5 minutes for my notebook.

Im now with Windows version, nxtwallet 1.1 of wesleyh client You must update to 1.0.3 if you haven't already. Blockchain gets stuck in earlier versions. Usually the wallet software would show an update notice, but due to the fact that the blockchain does not progress, the wallet does not find the block which says there is a new version. So download it manually at http://nxtra.org/nxt-wallet

Thanks! Actually I was hoping for a little more detail The address is something like sha256(curve25519(sha256(key))). It is presumably as easy or hard to bruteforce this regardless of whether an account has been verified. If you know the key, you have access to the account. You must be talking about an intermediate step - a way of sending funds from an account without using its private key? I don't think this got replied to. As I understand it, that's not what an account is in Nxt. In Nxt an account is only the first 64 bits of the hash. That's why it's relatively weak. It's also why it can be expressed in 21 digits, where Bitcoin needs 34 alphnumeric characters. So account collisions are much more likely in Nxt. When you first send from a Nxt account, your public key is registered to the account, and that brings the security back up to 256 bits.

It rules out conventional cold storage, unfortunately.
