I've been following this exchange since the beginning and initial offering.

There was some issues at first with the coders but halibit stepped up and has been working hard to get the exchange running for about a year now.

Alcurex has its own coin called microcoin, so far halibit has been transparent and has not given up.  He could have been done a long time ago but he has been persistent. It is based off Finland and the exchnage is currently working on trying to get USD EUR BTC licensed exchange.

Thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=458732.0

Never heard of them.

Are the Owners known or another anon exchange that'll get miraculously hacked" Ala Coin-EX, Coinmarket...

Agreed.

Considering what just occurred we need somewhere with some serious track record.

That's the best we got so far.

At this point in crypto it doesn't matter.

Look at all the exchanges that have gone under with a good reputation.

Since crypto is so young, we really cant be picky. We know the risks since day 1 and the rewards that come if all turns out good.

Aye. It's a pretty sordid state of affairs. Weren't the developers talking about their own exchange?

So your argument to use a sketchy exchange is we are gambling on crypto so we should roll the dice and compound the risk?

So you're saying the exchanges we have at the moment are not sketchy already?

The risk is the same as long as crypto is not officially regulated, everyone can be considered sketchy.  No one is safe at the moment.

There is a reason why BTC is considered extremely high risk investment.

It really depends if we want to trust others with our BTC, any time poloniex, bittrex, coinbase, circle, etc. could decide to run off with the funds and there is almost nothing we can do about it.

So is it better to have one exchange or none and become bagholders? Your choice.

Yes, from last I understood.  Hopefully that'll come soon.

Hahaha, yes.  Grin

A small exchange without volume get of course not hacked. But I do not know when the owner runs away with all funds.  Kiss

IF they can get this implemented, they may be in for quite some growth:
Quote
Property market coming soon..

Physical Gold and property market
Buy Gold coins and other investment property
with cryptocurrencies on alcurEX

also, markets connected to physical assets would mean that they are much safer to trade with because they have a serious approach,
and their business model would work much better being honest than scamming customers

also, they are registered in Finland, and have an office address listed- I don't know about BTer, but I think disappearing in China is easier than disappearing in Finland...

NODE may be a bit more difficult for them to implement but, as long as the NODE devs are there to help and advise them, we should get listed in time.

Poloniex added Crypti [XCR] which is also written in node.js. So I can't understand why they don't add NODE.

I totally agree; there is simply no excuse for inaction (with regard to NODE) by any exchange.

In any event, if Alcurex can do it, surely anybody can do it??  Huh
