I personally can't see NAUT gaining much traction after this airdrop if the price is at a nickel. 

Price matters!

Would you perceive Bitcoin the same if it sat at a nickel right now?  Few would.

The higher [and stable] the price the more confidence the people of Agistri will have in it and its future potential.

So let's brainstorm on what we can do as a community to increase the awareness, popularity and the value of NAUT.  I'm sure BK and Lee have much work to do with this launch so any value we can add as a community may help considerably.

It looks like what  NAUT needs is for the community to pitch in for this airdrop so it's a community project and not just a BK/Lee project.

That doesn't happen in a top-down, centrally planned way.  Especially not with something built on NXT, of all scam platforms.

As far as ways to blow through venture capital go, the 'Because Marketing' party+island+models thing, although enjoyable, is not a very original way to misuse funds.

Why not just teach the islanders (and models) to use Bitcoin, instead of maximizing chances of failure by introducing some unknown new crypto into the already dicey mix of normal people and e-cash?  I'd volunteer for a charity that did that, but can't give my blessing to something as flaky as NautilusCoin.

The locals will just go back to using fiat money once the party is over.  It's not like poor Greeks can afford to speculate on gimmicky altcoins!  And if they do anyway, they will get burned and might understandably become less eager to use legitimate crypto like BTC and XMR.

Where do I start?

First of all...misuse funds?

This is ALL Brian Kelly's and Coinstructor's money so if they think lighting a million bucks on fire is a good way to promote their project then it's not misuse.  You make it sound like they're spending the community's money when the community hasn't pitched in a single dime.

Secondly, doing a popular show like Greece's next top model and incorporating NAUT and the Drachmae project into it is BRILLIANT.  Millions of Greeks will be exposed not only to NAUT but also to crypto which is good for all crypto and Bitcoin so this is a massive positive for all crypto coins.  How many people and alts have you seem give this much positive exposure and free PR to Bitcoin and crypto in general?  Crypto needs more people like BK.

Third, why would you expect everyone on the planet to promote only Bitcoin when it's clear as day to most educated people (even Bill Gates) that Bitcoin is an inferior payment system and there are better solutions out there including better algos (see Bluedragon's BlakeCoin).  Do you really expect the whole world to blindly go along with BTC forever?

There's no way to know if the locals will go back to fiat.  The goal here is to introduce a parallel crypto running alongside the euro, backed by state assets and/or gold to alleviate the temporary credit crunch problem Greece is facing.  If this project works out to bring in the much needed cash infusion you can bet it will go into the next phase of being rolled out on a much bugger scale and at that point I'm sure Bitcoin will also be used, along with other Cryptos.

Finally, XMR? Haha!  Monero and Dash are nice if you're into bullshit "never will be anonymous" government projects.  I for one try to not get involved with the FBI/CIA if I can help it.

Looks like Bittrex might be swapping NAUT for the new NAUTNXT cause it appears trading is halted and the NAUT wallet is disabled.

Anybody have any NAUT on Bittrex and can verify what's going on there?

Also, if Bittrex is first to update is it possible to send NAUT from another exchange to Bittrex or would one be shut out if one didn't have the old NAUT on bittrex at the time of the swap?

You should join slack.getjumbucks.com  Richie and Bill from bittrex are often on there and can probably answer all your questions there.

Bittrex will be handling the swap for their existing customers.

This means that if you had NAUT on Bittrex before they froze trading,
once trading resumes you will have shiny new NXTNAUT on your account.

And before you ask.....I don't know if Bittrex will be offering a conversion service for NAUT deposits from here on.
