So I'm having a bit of an issue trying to power it up.

psu Corsair CX600M

On the psu there are several ports but only 1 6+2 pci-e
and it has only one cable with 2 pci-e ports on it.
So half way it splits in 2 pci-e.

I plugged each of that into each of the s1 boards and tried powering it up.
the psu does come on and runs super quietly.
however the ant has 3 leds 1 flashing green 1 red and 1 amber for the network.
the ant fan is off and it does not seem to be fully powered.
any ideas???

OC'd ants draw 400 watts at the wall so at 85% eff that is only 340 per ant. A lower rated PSU just means that it will draw more at the wall and has nothing to do with what the PSU is rated for. the only advantage of running 75% is a PSU is typically more efficient but I digress.

I run many ants 2xOCd on 850w PSUs without issue. Don't waste money if you don't have to.

You are fine what you describe is normal. Just do the following:

1. The IP sticker on your Ant is probably 192.168.1.99 so chances are you can just open a browser and type that ip address to access the ant. user root pw root

2. if not follow the guid it is very easy just plug ethernet from your comp into Ant change you ipv4 settings to match the subnet and you are good to go.

Read this:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=355387

then this to OC to 393
http://cryptomining-blog.com/366-how-to-overclock-your-bitmain-antminer-s1-to-200-ghs/

Every new Ant I buy I just need to change the ip address under WAN settings and before that I make sure IP 192.168.1.99 is not set so I just plug and play.

yay it works.

the fan on the ant did not turn on immediately and that's what threw me off...

so how do I set a mining pool in here? do I have to set all 3 pools, or are the next 2 just for back up?

Also, it seems that the guy that sold me the ants left his settings in there. Is there a way to reset it...
seems like this ant is already hashing for him Sad

you only need set one ,but you should have two or three just in case.

one miner set with 3 pools

this is where you can change the settings for the pools

No, if it is a new one it will probably have the same fixed IP (192.168.1.99).  The easiest way is to modify the one that you already have running (login to the web gui, Network tab,  Interfaces tab (comes up first) then edit the WAN interface IP (IPv4 address box, change value from 192.168.1.99 to for example 192.168.1.98), click 'save & apply', then be patient as it takes a few minutes (if stuck do a System reset).
If you try to run both S1's on the same WAN IP address you are looking for trouble.  You also need to make sure that there are no IP address clashes with existing devices on your network (if your router has a feature to assign specific IP addresses, then use that to assign the S1's the same addresses as the fixed ones that you selected, this will prevent future clashes).

Cheers

Hey all,

total noob here...

I just got a couple of ants on ebay and they have already been shipped. (yay)
I'm looking to have them both oc'd and powered by a single psu.

What's the best psu option for me?

I looked at some of the guides here and while the server psu's look cool and all, I'd prefer a more of a plug n' play approach with a regular psu.
(both ants are the newer model with the pci-e connectors)

What are my options? what's the min wattage for a psu to run 2 oc'd ants somewhat safely?

ty in advance and have a great day

If you're on a budget, I'd just go with 2 500 or 600 W PSU's.  Much cheaper.

If budget doesn't matter, and you like to just connect 2 Ants to a single PSU, something like this would do:

www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139057

yep i just bought another one of these rm1000's today .. i have an entire fleet of these now.
