well scrypt just means there will be big fish and big dumps ... so price is gonna drop alot ... if coin has substance its just more profitable to buy after crash than to mine now .. except if u own scrypt asic ... but who cares ... if coin good it has future otherwise it will just die and i wasted lifetime on it ... so wattever ...

If bitcoinmining riggs could buy miningriggs with bitcoin by themselves wouldnt that be asexual reproduction ? So wouldnt that make BTC a lifeform ?

No idea why anyone is still going on about the algo!

It's been decided, either get on board and mine or
don't, pretty easy decision.

And I'm sure there will be coins to buy at a decent
price and will do well in the future.

Why all the POS coin algorithm is scrypt , why not try X11. I'm confused.

They lack the ability to comprehend how problematic it is to allow asic farms/multipools to hop on at launch.

Dev mentality:

High hashrate = success

even though 98% of it will be comprised of asic farms/multipools. (Look at SHIBE for reference, was a complete fucking disaster in regards to distribution)

It's only 14 days total POW... Waiting for the lunch!

Lol, ok? So by it being a short distribution stage, let's make it even more impossible for the average miner to generate anything worthwhile right?

Listen to the suggestions of the community as there will not be a deterrent for everyone that has advocated for scrypt because they're able to mine GROESTL as well.
Unless they already have asics..  Angry

Also, X11 blocks out the Nvidia mining community and is less efficient compared to Groestl. Simple choice at this point, pick GROESTL
the suggestions of the community , seriously it's the 8th time you said that, everyone has a different opinion respect that fact we have no interest in scrypt or X11 the fact is we just want to please the community and it seems most people are for scrypt algo, way more no doubt about this.

What am I missing? \/\/\/

There have been numerous people on the thread (INCLUDING a respected Pool operator) suggesting the algo change, as well as the obvious issue that ASIC farms are waiting to rape this coin.

Hey guys,

I just want to thank for your trust in suprnova here but please make sure you have a valid failover/back up pool set.

There are DDoS' and failures sometimes which are hard to sort out, even I can't do much about a > 10 GBit DDoS from China, so its really, really critical YOU have Backup-Pools set when mining.

With cgminer it is as easy as using multiple "-o" switches..

So a simple

./cgminer --scrypt -o stratum+tcp://silk.suprnova.cc:3113 -u username.worker -p workerpass -I 19 --gpu-clock 1100 etc.. changes to something like:

./cgminer --scrypt -o stratum+tcp://silk.suprnova.cc:3113 -u username.worker -p workerpass -o stratum+tcp://silk.otherpool.com:3333 -u otherpool.user -p otherpollpass -I 19 --gpu-clock 1100 etc..

This way cgminer will automatically switch to "otherpool" when the first is unreachable.

Believe me, set it up this way !

You'll cry if you set up only one pool, be warned !

Two things :
- Launch in 30 mins
- Scrypt algo, not based on the poll but mainly on feedbacks, private messages and different points in the thread please adatrader stop spamming go mine badgercoin or ostrichcoin but silkcoin is staying scrypt.

Yes linux and windows compiled + github source code will be updated at launch in the original post.

We are very close now, let's hope everything goes well... Normally everything is good but we have so much pressure at the moment everyone is pretty stressed out since we all want this coin to be perfect.

In about 15 minutes we'll be watching the stats grow directly in QT using this incredible wallet http://silk-coin.com/#screenshots can't wait !
Have fun!
