I set it up today. The downloading of the history takes some time so you have to be patient. You can run the feed with the -y parameter to skip the history download, and should be getting real time data in a couple of minutes at most (provided that bitcoincharts.com is up).

I guess I found the answer to my own question by looking at the source code :

BITCOINCHARTS_TRADES_URL = 'http://bitcoincharts.com/t/trades.csv'

The above URL doesn't exist.

Startup with no history has gotten extremely unreliable, so I took a whack at adding a while loop to chunk up the download 1 week at a time instead of grabbing the whole dataset. Unfortunately I don't have time to test it right now, but if anyone wants to try it out, please let me know if it helps.

https://github.com/scryb3/sierrachartfeed

Thanks,

Scrybe

I believe scfeed should create the scid file so you don't have to do anything else. You could maybe try scrybe's segmented downloading, since bitcoincharts works much better when it's asked small periods of time instead of the full stash.

scrybe, thanks for improvement! It looks bitcoincharts.com historical API is down right now, so I cannot check it. But please fix syntax error in your commit :-).

Can you make pull request to my git? Once I get it working, I'll merge it.

Thx for the answer!
Today was no 502 error and voila - scid file downloaded itself. Now I click "New/Open Intraday Chart", pick this mtgoxUSD.scid file, but no data appears - just black screen.

Sorry, I'm no SierraChart expert so I can't help you any further. For reference, my mtgoxUSD.scid file is 160 Mb right now, might be worth to take a look at that…

the feed dont download data from last night it only down load data for the past hours

Seems bitcoincharts.com has changed the trades.csv behaviour and now you can't select the interval of timestamps desired. I hope they'll fix it soon.

there is another issue, historical data is now downloaded with reversed order

mtgoxUSD 2013-04-11 13:39:45 1365680385 165.0 5.42
mtgoxUSD 2013-04-11 13:39:45 1365680385 164.86 1.25
mtgoxUSD 2013-04-11 13:39:44 1365680384 164.86 2.99
mtgoxUSD 2013-04-11 13:39:41 1365680381 164.9 0.6
mtgoxUSD 2013-04-11 13:39:34 1365680374 165.0 1.0
mtgoxUSD 2013-04-11 13:39:29 1365680369 165.0 3.57
mtgoxUSD 2013-04-11 13:39:29 1365680369 165.0 2.5

from latest to oldest, and of course the data is visualized in sierrachart in the reversed order, on the left the new data, on the right of the chart the old data, pretty odd:)

edit: real time data is visualized correctly but not the historical data

bitcoincharts' api is working as expected as of this writing, so I'd expect the feed to be able to get the history again (but I haven't tested that).

That's another story. You simply wait, retry and get the data. End of the problem. Yesterday you didn't get the requested data and it sucked hard.
