Hey bit of a newb - can anyone explain this staking business?

I have about 20% of my wallet sitting in 'stake' and other 80% in 'spendable' and current 0 in 'unconfirmed'

I have received a small amount via PoS which state 'mined' (confirmed+accepted) + some which is 'generated but not accepted' (i.e. looks dead)

I go into advanced options in wallet (under send) and see in the tree view that the items which seem to align with the 'stake' bucket have a priority of highest' and are reasonably old ( 14-May ) and have 4073 confirmations.

The other 80% is also marked priority 'highest' but slightly newer (about 12 hours later ~15-May ) but with higher confirmations (6307)

I was expecting that after they matured (X-Days) they would move from 'spendable' => 'stake'

what makes them 'stake'-able? Please note that I do have multiple 'addresses' as I spread the incoming coins across multiple as I assumed (at the time) that if I added newer coins to existing address with older coins the 'clock' would restart.....

Somewhat confused......

Here's my basic understanding of this, but as I'm also new to all this PoS business, I could be way off. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

All normal, mature coins are "Stakeable".
Coins in "Stake" are coins that recently received PoS coins. It creates a new output that needs to mature again, that's why it isn't spendable. Once it gets spendable (mature) again, it shows at the spendable balance and will start to attract stake again.

So for example, you have 1 address, where you got 3 transactions.
1: 10 MAST
2: 100 MAST
3: 1000 MAST

When these coins are mature, they start trying to find PoS blocks, each output individually. So you have 1110 mature coins under "Spendable". The 1000 MAST output has a higher chance to get stake reward than the 10 MAST. But over time, the chance increases, so that the 10 MAST will eventually also find it. When the 1000 MAST found reward (say 0.1 MAST), you'll have a new 1000.1 MAST output that needs to mature (1200 confirmations) again. The 1000.1 MAST then show up under "Stake" and can not be spend (or receive PoS reward) until they mature. The remaining 110 are still under "Spendable" and waiting to get their PoS.

About the "'generated but not accepted' (i.e. looks dead)": That usually means those PoS blocks you mined are orphans, so the network has decided to take another block instead of yours (happens when blocks are found at almost the same time by different people).

unimagani => That's awesome - really helpful explanation and it makes a whole lot more sense now - the way its phrased in the wallet makes it seem like it should be the other way around - however perhaps thats just me! All good - thank u for spending the time explaining that - one of the reasons I like this coin - community are very helpful......

You're just in time before the price really starts soaring. All time high of .0002, expecting anywhere from .001 to .005 within a few weeks.

Now is the time to buy.  Get in before MAST shows up on Polo, which could be very soon with this kind of Bittrex volume.

Am I crazy in thinking this could make it to even DRK level?  Look at this growth and we probably have nowhere near the popularity of DRK, once they see what's happening and more people hop on board, I dare say .0125 isn't all that far fetched.

I got in early,  been holding ever since, I am very interested to see what happens in a couple hours when the superblock hits!  its hard to believe that miners will hold during these prices....lets hope for half of them to hold though!!!

Why does everyone assume the miners don't look at the charts?  I mine and ipo attracted me to this page (thank god) and I decided to throw all my BTC at it, while some mine and dump I think any big miner doing it for income also looks at charts to see if he can potentially make more and with the charts leading up to superblocks, if they even glance at it, they'd realize it'd be stupid to dump.  Just my thoughts  Smiley

MastiffCoin

- Only 2.7 M coins

- Dev team very active with some innovative projects

- Only trading at bittrex at the moment

- From 3k to 17k satoshis in the last 24 Hours

- 130 BTC volume and going up

People start to see the potential into this coin and those already in know the price is ridiculous and will not dump anything.

I'm glad to be a part of this community.

EDIT : 200 BTC volume / 30k satoshis !

@Mastiffcoin

There are some accusations that your code is a copy of Husky coin. Any merit to those accusations?

Let it be known that I am not spreading FUD, merely trying to get a response out of the dev.

EDIT: I'm a holder of MAST, even after the recent rise.

ok good to know  Wink

But don't forget 99% of the coins are copys, what matter is the community behind and dev bringing new features.
