I hosted privately; until storms (typhoons) hit me and knocked out my power for a couple of weeks. Will let you know if I ever decide to do hosting again, but not likely given the price of electricity I get now.

bump...

SP30 Oct. batch arrived at Mich-Colo this week. SP30 had PSU fault which required power cycle. All i had to do was go to Mich-Colo online chat to request reboot and it was done. Easy.

What is what? I hosted some scrypt miners for a few friends (about a few thousand watts worth). I live in the Philippines. Typhoons killed my electricity for a few days, then my roof started to leak. Shipped out the miners to another location. My electricity is like 0.35 USD per kilowatt hour.

Hi potential customers! We have about 250 kW of capacity available in about a week or two. If you want us to host something, please send a note to orders@toom.im.

Hi hosting providers! We purchased way more cooling equipment (high performance exhaust fans and evaporative coolers) than we're going to be able to use in the near future. We have enough extra exhaust fans and evaporative coolers to cool a few MW of capacity. If you ask nicely, I may even be willing to consult with you on how to design your airflow system to maximize cooling efficiency. We also have a bunch of 22 kW PDUs. Send an email to j@toom.im if you're interested. With the drop in the BTC price, we are scaling back our expansion plans, and consequently we won't be needing some of the stuff we bought.

Hosting bitcoin miners for $65 to $80/kW/month on clean, cheap hydro power.

I have two SP10s at Advania, and they show 31 °C and 41 °C input temps respectively all evening ... way higher than normal.

Anybody else got a machine there and seeing an increase in input temps?

I did before posting, just checking the forum to see if anyone else sees the same ... Advania Tech say they can't see a problem.  Huh

I'll check/monitor again in a while to see what the temps are.

I have two SP10s at Advania, and they show 31 °C and 41 °C input temps respectively all evening ... way higher than normal.

If you have one machine at 31°C and one machine at 41°C, my expectation is that you have one or two machines in hotspots. At our datacenter, if we turn off some of our exhaust fans, we end up getting slight positive pressure in our hot aisle due to all the fans in the miners. This causes airflow to recirculate from the machine's exhaust back into the intake in certain places (typically at the top of a rack, where, incidentally, a few of Roadstress's machines are), resulting in intake temperatures about 10°C-15°C higher at some machines than in most.

At http://toom.im, we have some scripts that collect and aggregate temperature data from our machines, like this:
Code:
10.0.14.10    type SP10  hashing  1389 temps are 20C, 61/61C
10.0.19.8     type SP10  hashing  1410 temps are 23C, 68/66C
10.0.19.38    type SP10  hashing  1423 temps are 21C, 60/61C
10.0.18.6     type SP10  hashing  1427 temps are 23C, 67/65C
10.0.18.7     type SP10  hashing  1386 temps are 23C, 67/67C
10.0.11.5     type SP10  hashing  1434 temps are 21C, 60/62C
10.0.18.5     type SP10  hashing  1433 temps are 24C, 66/63C
10.0.5.4      type SP30  hashing  4494 temps are 20C, 72/71C
10.0.12.2     type SP30  hashing  4450 temps are 22C, 66/68C
10.0.24.4     type SP30  hashing  4499 temps are 21C, 68/67C
10.0.11.2     type SP10  hashing  1363 temps are 22C, 61/61C
10.0.15.6     type SP30  hashing  4641 temps are 20C, 64/67C
10.0.16.15    type SP30  hashing  4494 temps are 23C, 68/68C
10.0.21.3     type SP30  hashing  4510 temps are 22C, 69/68C

If any machine's top or bottom temperature exceeds a threshold, or if 10% of our machines' intake temps go above or below a threshold, our tools send us emergency emails or (if the deviation is severe enough) text messages and robocalls. When we have to turn off one or two exhaust fans for a few minutes for maintenance, we get emails that look like this:

Code:
2 systems have crossed a high temperature boundary:

IP:       10.0.19.48
MAC:      7C:66:9D:36:97:23
Serial #: FL1422003945
Model:    SP10
Temperature: 31C, 78/82C
Hash rate:    1345

Tonight both machines are back down to 19C and 21C respectively, so all OK.

Really good to know you have such systems in place to automatically monitor temps, my SP30s are in good hands.

Great work coming from jtoomim with this post: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=521520.msg9215934#msg9215934 on how to quickly stabilize a lemon SP30.

OMFG bobsag3, wall of SP30 eyecandy!!

They spent at least an hour last night disassembling, troubleshooting and fixing one of my miners.
One of the hashblades in his S2 was a little crooked, and its heatsink was touching some pins on the Beaglebone Black controller, which shorted them out. I used some electrical tape to insulate the Beaglebone, and that got his S2 running again.
