Even if you use Bitcoin through Tor, the way transactions are handled by the network makes anonymity difficult to achieve. Do not expect your transactions to be anonymous unless you really know what you're doing.

I'd like to download and install the wallet but would like to see checksums at a minimum published by Dan first.

It's industry best practice to publish checksum / PGP sign off on wallet downloads, see Bitcoin Core:

Lol ok here you go :

Find an animated gif you want to use, either create one or search on google images "this and that animated gif"
Click on the image you want to use, copy the address of the image
Now go to BTC talk and click reply
In the editor you see buttons for B / U and S below those you see other buttons, the first one being some wierd sun thing and right next to it is a button "insert image"
Click that button, you see [ IMG ] [/ IMG] (without the spaces)
Paste the link between those two instances like [ IMG ] your link.gif [/ IMG] (again without the spaces)
Submit your post

Presto!

So folks, I have been following this thread from the beginning. Xc is the first currency I have truly been excited about since btc. I am about to make what is a large xc investment for myself. Anyone have a reason why they strongly feel someone should or should not invest in xc. Not basing my decision on this info, just curious as to where the community still stands. Thanks.

You'll be happy you pulled the trigger, just look at the team XC has put together and the industry leading tech they are improving on every week.

XC is so undervalued right now its crazy.  Welcome to the community.

Giphy prevents hotlinking, make sure the link ends with .gif
You could however download a gif from Giphy, upload it to Imgur and paste the link Imgur creates. That will work

This sort of thing is going down on Twitter:

@CryptoBoh   They did it... #XC rev2 beta2 trustless mixing built in to the UI..Now everyone can be financially anonymous

Good to see some tweets, lets hope everyone retweets and keeps spreading the word.

I understand ur skepticism but srsly, you are not downloading hentai porn here, code has also been peer reviewed by prominent members of the community(NOT known holders), not to mention I find it hard to believe you haven't taken part in any pump and dump coin in ur involvement to the scene, so why on earth would you be so cautious when it comes to sincerely the most promising concept after bitcoin itself?

Guys this is common practice and would take ATC all but a couple of min. Don't forget web servers can get compromised and code can be replaced. Not rocket science just basic security.

Agreed, this is a reasonable request.

[perception that we don't emphasise marketing]

Yes we have a marketing strategy. Of course we do. I mean, just this week we launched a website, rebranded Twitter, launched a Facebook page, recruited a digital and social marketing guy from Microsoft and Adidas... I mean, do you expect more?

Don't worry about it. Trust me when I say that the public will hear about XC.

I am aware of those, I was referring to advertising in the sense of paying money and getting exposure for XC

That too is on the cards.

However the general public is not ready for XC. A beta client without a slick UI that you can't buy XC with in two clicks isn't mainstream-ready.

We'll start paying for advertising around Rev 3, and it'll just keep ramping up as XC's capabilities grow.

PR releases, or ads? Maybe some banner ads?

Is there a bounty, I might add something to it, depending on the options being looked at?

Why not do some Google Adwords advertising? I am sure that will get XC out there.

Sweet.

There is going to be so many people kicking themselves for not buying XC at this price range (or not buying more). Short term, any kind of fluctuations can happen. But a simple "Buy and hold" strategy here is going to pay massive dividends in the medium/long term range.

Btw, is practico still paying for the rev 2 press release? I vaguely remember reading something about it a while back, perhaps it was for rev 2.5.
