Update:

As you can see by the block explorer, the increasing network hash and PoS difficulty; the recent issues, where only a "handful of wallets" were staking, is now under control.
Network weight is rising as the CLOAK team and select wallets are now staking to increase the network stability.

After extensive testing we believe we may have uncovered an underlying flaw that can affect the vast majority of PoS coins and for that reason and until we issue a patch in the next update, for the security of this coin and respect for other coins, we will refrain from making "the vulnerability" public knowledge.

Because of the time spent by the team working out what had gone on, we're delayed with PoSA by at least a few days as a patch is needed.

It's worth considering that this discovery can contribute towards the stability and security of not just our coin but many others.

Does this mean that other than select wallets, the majority will be unable to stake for the time being?

Hmmm potential security flaw for other PoS coins as well.  Wow.  Just wait until the flaw is made public after the patch...  There will be scrambling amongst other coins and Cloak will earn a HUGE reputation from this...

Go Cloak dev team!!!  Nice work!

I agree. Instead of rushing release without sufficient testing (such as DRK) dev is taking the responsible approach.

Nice work!

Hello first post, just wanted to ask if anyone is having problems with the new mac wallet? I couldn't get it to open. I had to revert back to the 1.9.3.

I have been staking and wallet open for about 5 days now, it was showing me in the rich list but haven't been seen since the first day.
Keep up the good work, I wish I had of dumped my drk and gone in all on cloak!,

If you are staking, it will not show you in the Rich list...

nice update, i really don't understand nodes and POS. ANy work that makes the network more secure is to be appluaded

Let's take an example.  Let's say you have one incoming transaction for 1,000 coins.  After 6 hours, those coins will become eligible for staking.  PoS is kind of like PoW mining.  The more coins you have the higher the chance you have to stake a block.  This is represented by your "weight" in the wallet.

Now, let's say it takes you one day for you to stake a block with those 1,000 coins.  Now, with 6% annual interest, you'll get (1,000 * .06)/365 ~= 0.16439 coins in interest (for a total of 1,000.16429 coins).  Now those coins will split into two equal transactions:  (1,000.16439 / 2) = 500.082195 each.  You can see this in the advanced coin control section of the wallet.  Now those two blocks of coins (500.082195 each) will be ready for staking and the process repeats on those two blocks.  (500.082195 * .06)/365 = .08220229 coins in interest (for a total of 500.164397).   Now that 500+ block of coins gets split each time it stakes into two: 500.164397/2 = 250.082199.  After this, you have 250.082199 * 4 = 1,000.3288 coins.  And this process repeats ad infinitum each time splitting the blocks of coins in two.

If you have many, many small transactions coming in to your wallet (say from mining payouts), they'll all mature at different times, and thus be eligible for staking at different times.  You can organize these coins into one transaction by sending coins to yourself.  I also do this once in a while when all my coins have staked many times and the coins have split a bunch.  It just makes it easier for me to see how much interest I'm earning in a day when there is only one (or a few) transaction's worth of coins staking as opposed to ~100 smaller ones.

Did you do a fresh install? Or just install and try to use it?

I'm reading both XC and cloakcoin OP's and cannot seem to understand the difference between XC's new PBoC, and cloakcoin PoSA?

Does anyone know what separates these coins as obviously two front runners in the anon tech. Maybe explained for those that don't know ins and outs of anon tech.

thanks

What does PBoC stand for?

Happy to see that the flaw has been caught early then later when PoSa and onemarket are out that would of been a nightmare for everyone. I would rather see this before anything is implemented and released to the public, prices might be affected short term but thats ok a few cents now is nothing compared if it was worth a few dollars.

Prices dropped slightly doesn't look like anyone is panic selling, just a few scared investors that jump ship on the slightest problem.

no idea, just keep hearing of multipath and this PoBC that they keep talking about. Obviously XC is the buzz and just really trying to see what is better that investors are putting all there money there? I'm not seeing anything other than developer there is real guy.

What i'm getting as is I cannot see why so many are investing in XC, thread is explosive, yet cloakcoin is not talked about much at all? What am i missing here?
