There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, but full nodes are more resource-heavy, and they must do a lengthy initial syncing process. As a result, lightweight clients with somewhat less security are commonly used.

My wallet is not opening im getting Error "cloakcoin-qt.exe- Ordinal Not Found The ordinal 4445 could not be located in the dynamic link library LIBEAY32.dll"
If LIBEAY32.dll is missing, please download http://slproweb.com/download/Win32OpenSSL-1_0_1h.exe

Careful downloading libraries and open SSL from sources that you are not completely certain about!
this link from official open ssl website
https://www.openssl.org/related/binaries.html

are you fucking kidding me?

the "slproweb" link has been posted like 50 times in as many pages, and now i find out that THIS is the official link?

what the fuck... why isn't this on the OP, come on dagger, i understand you're busy, but this is a big deal. get some links on the OP please ASAP.

now i'm unsure of what the hell i downloaded cause it was just a random link off this thread, as that's the closest iv'e come to any "official" link to getting a working wallet. we've been asking for over a week, and people have been having issues for longer than that, why isn't this a quick fix?
i dont know why u mad  , openssl.org send you to slproweb to download that file . so its the official link . i agree it should be added in OP , but alty is busy right now

i'm not mad, i've been waiting on a crucial update for over a week, i'm irritated.

i'm still obviously a huge cloak supporter, nothing has changed. but loving something doesn't mean turning a blind eye to things that should be taken care of ASAP. some would call it tough love, i call it being a responsible investor, you have to engage the devs on the little things and make sure they see it. they have enough on their plate, and their eyes on much bigger and more complicated things than just adding a couple links to the OP. doesn't mean it isn't a high priority.

Weird, I've got 1.9.4.0 still and no problems. Tried some of the troubleshooting tips like setting max connections to 5 (I set mine to 4 because yolo) and adding new nodes, and voila.

If you're on 1.9.4, you're on the wrong fork.  You need to be on the latest wallet.  1.9.6 was a MANDATORY update.  Link is in the OP.

Has anyone been having problems syncing? Since updating to the newest wallet I've been having problems and because the wallet isn't up to date I can't move anything onto or off of it.

not necessarily
the github repo has mandatory core protocoll changes built in but ist still 1.9.4. So I'm on 1.9.4 and on the right fork.
