1.) I noticed that the default data directory for bitmonerod.exe on Windows, according to the help output, is C:\ProgramData\bitmonero. Shouldn't it be %HOMEPATH%\AppData\Roaming\bitmonero?
2.) Is there no exit command for bitmonerod.exe anymore when running it as a process (not a service)? Edit: bitmonerod stop_daemon
So, do we have two versions of bitmonerod.exe making the rounds? There's the version that just got released that you have to type "exit" to quit, and then there's the one that comes with the .NET GUI that you must use the command-line argument "stop_daemon"? Essentially meaning that you can't drop the new one into the "Resources" folder of the .NET GUI, because it then can't close the process when closing the GUI?

^The .NET GUI is unofficial, but open source and useful if you don't want to use the CLI wallet. As far as I know it's using the same daemon, so you could replace the daemon in "Resources" without issues. If it doesn't work you could ask in the .NET GUI thread: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=683365.0

I'm pretty sure it doesn't use the same daemon, as I doubt they'd have introduced such changes between 0.8.8.2 and 0.8.8.3. I post over there, as well. I guess this thread just doesn't get any official eyeballs.

Why do you feel the need to bump every single Monero thread, even ones that are months old? We thank you for the extra exposure, but it isn't something we really need.

You missed the reference to the tides. May I suggest you google it. "Why do the tides go in and out? No one can explain that." Are you this snarky in real life?

Well I guess if you are not from U.S. it is pretty obscure! However, it was entertaining viewing - Is that O'Reilly guy Sarah Palin's Old Man?

Hi, I'm trying to transfer XMR from my wallet to an exchange. I try the command: transfer 0 {my-address} {amount} {id} I get the error: transaction fee is not enough: 0.000001000000, minumim fee: 0.100000000000. The amount I'm trying to transfer is 0.5 XMR. I'm using versin 0.8.8.3.
What should I do?
thanks

When I have this problem, I just reduce the amount to be transferred. As the fee is at least 0.1 XMR, it is not worth transferring 0.5 XMR.

Also note that the fee will be changed "soon".
It will be determined by the KB size of the transaction not the amount of coins. This will make the fee around 0.01 for most transactions. Sending a transaction composed of many smaller previous transactions will cost more. Again we will find out the details, soon.

Your fee is too small. Because of a recent attack on the Monero blockchain the fee was changed to 0.1 XMR per transaction. Soon the fee will be changed again to vary depending on the transaction size (in kb) and then your transaction will be cheaper (except if you want to mix your 0.5 XMR with 1000 other transactions). In order to send it with the current fee you should update your wallet and daemon software from here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=583449.0, but you'll pay 20% fee for the 0.5 XMR transaction.

No just recommended. 0.8.8.3+ is mandatory.

Can be ignored. Simply means that the identified peer is stuck on the fork from 12 days ago. It won't affect you and the peer will be disconnected soon after.
