I haven't followed Nem in many months. What are the reasons it became so big? Would love to get back in it, anything new up coming?
Still have time to return home. Watch this new video: https://vimeo.com/230024419It's only begining. Believe me. The catapult will blow up the minds of the Investors. Thank you for the responce. Now will catapult be part of Nem, or will it be a new coin?

Despite the ninja development and behind the scene's B2B marketing, people are slowly starting to realize that the NEM platform is one of the most advanced applications of blockchain technology and is extremely well positioned for rapid deployment to solve real world problems with many valuable use cases. The PoS algorithm that secures the chain avoids a lot of the issues that haven't been addressed by PoW and the upcoming upgrade to the core architecture (catapult) will increase it's lead over other platforms even more. Any timeline of when it's going to be released? Right now my money is tied up on other coins that I can't just sell. So the for me the longer it takes the better.

hey guys anyone here can explain how xem is different from other pow coins?
NEM uses PoI not PoW to secure it's blockchain. PoI (proof of importance) is an enhanced version of PoS (proof of stake). There is no mining arms race and wasted energy required unlike PoW. The stake holders that are securing the network have a vested long term interest to protect their stake unlike with PoW mining where the hardware quickly loses value and the main motivation is selfish short term profit.

Catapult is new core architecture that will power the public (NEM) and private (Mijin) blockchains. The existing NEM blockchain will be migrated to this new architecture. Think of it as a new back-end for the NEM platform. Any timeline of when it's going to be released? Right now my money is tied up on other coins that I can't just sell. So the for me the longer it takes the better.
Catapult should be completed this year and deployed on private (Mijin) blockchains for testing. Once it's properly vetted there it should be released for the public chain (NEM) in 2018 according the COMSA whitepaper.

I was using nis-ncc-0.6.91.tgz (windows) so far but now it seems stuck at block 1250161 (2 days behind) Checked the download pages and all I can find is:
nis-0.6.93.tgz which doesn't seems to include the ncc.
Don't want to use the NanoWallet.
So where can I find the nis-ncc-0.6.93.tgz ? Or do I have to overwrite what I have in the package folder with what is in nis-0.6.93.tgz instead and it is using the old ncc and that works?

Ok I manual merged nis-0.6.93.tgz into what I have in the package folder (nis-ncc-0.6.91.tgz) by overwriting files and deleting old verson java .jar and it works (so I have nis 0.6.93 and ncc 0.6.91 and mon 0.6.91 ) I strongly recomment you to always provide the full package since manual merging will be a very troublesome act for most users and you can never be sure that you did it right (overwriting the right files deleting the right ones) It synchronized now.

NCC is deprecated. It will not be distributed in any subsequent release. Use Nano Wallet instead.

Who is this guy? What's the point of teasing Catapult and then saying ''Don't be mistaken, catapult is still pretty far from public deployment''.

Who is this guy? What's the point of teasing Catapult and then saying ''Don't be mistaken, catapult is still pretty far from public deployment''. He is one of the devs! And he is right, they are working hard and they should take their time. Catapult will come out when it is ready! Bringing something out with bugs would be a disaster for NEM. NEM has the reputation to be one of the most secure and stable blockchain in the cryptoworld. A failure would be in comparison much more worse for NEM than for any other Cryptocoin!

it depends what are you thinking about as profitable. from my calculations, with higher fee it was about 1-2% monthly return. Now for some time it should be 20 times less. You really shouldn't treat harvesting as an investment. It is just a bonus

What is profitable for you? To get XEM from harvesting every week...

You really shouldn't treat harvesting as an investment. It is just a bonus 1-2%? So if you harvest with 1.000.000 XEM you harvested 10.000 - 20.000 XEM each month? Sound's much too high. I never harvested that much.

I don't think you can call harvesting profitable, there are still too few transactions to give harvesting that attribute. Supernodes on the other hand are profitable for sure but you need a lot of xem to join the program.

If you get a block a week, I say it is profitable. You do not spend any except having xem on your wallet. Your xem appreciates in value over time and is also harvesting which gives you more xem. It is slow, but you can still profit.
