What is NIS?

NIS = Nem Infrastructure Server

That is the software module that runs on a node and coummunicates with other nodes, analyzes blocks,...

Nothing Else Matters

What are the requirements a server must meet to run NIS? I'm mainly asking about RAM and storage needs.

Can not launch NEM Node after software upgrade to nis-0.6.93 on Windows 7. Launch runMon.bat and the window briefly appears and then disappears with "Error:Could not find or load main class org.nem.monitor.NemMonitor". Version nis-ncc-0.6.87 worked just fine. What am I doing wrong?

NCC and Monitor are not distributed with 0.6.93 any more.
Use runNis.bat to start NIS.

My question is actually how to launch local harvesting with minimum 10000 XEM?

You can try to combine nis 0.6.93 with ncc 0.6.91 and mon  0.6.91
That's what I did. I am not harvesting thought.

A pity that the devs don't want to support that good nis/ncc/mon combi system anymore.

Local harvesting is no longer available with new wallet. You can still run your own node and choose it as delegate harvesting node. Not sure exactly what the hardware requirement is but it's minimal, any old computer will do. You just need to install Java first.

You'll have to run your own node to do that. Send me your delegated private key and I'll add it to a supernode so it autoharvests after reboot etc.

Thanks, I've got an answer from NEM Support Team:

I would prefer 200000, but I'm afraid if this happens, then not sooner than in a year or two.

Your price prediction of NEM seem a long way off, may take plenty years before it could happen. Since it previously peaked at around 12000 satoshi in May, therefore 15000~20000 satoshi is more attainable in the coming months.

It seems to me that in the coming months we will see a big drop in cryto - not just NEM. Then again there will be growth, but the next few months are unlikely to be successful.
But this is just my opinion. Smiley

It hit nearly 14000, but maybe it's time people stopped pricing it in BTC. It's hit USD all time highs in the last month.

I believe it's just a matter of time until NEM starts really taking off. it's already a strong top 10 crypto in terms of marketcap, but that's just the beginning.

It has many more features incoming, allows for safe and easy integration of mosaics or a sort of ''smart contracts''. Catapult is an upcoming upgrade which changes the core language from java to C++ and has a lot of additional innovative features not a single blockchain can do so far.

NEM also already has several projects running on it's blockchain: Breeze, DIMcoin, Ecobit, Luxtag, Bankera etc...
Comsa is a project also running on the NEM blockchain which is especially large in Japan (it already has 152000 signups). It will feature large scale and regulated ICO's for big already existing companies wanting to make use of blockchain technology.

NEM is building a NEM exchange in cooperation with Australian Cryptocurrency Exchange (ACX) which will allow for easy exchange from fiat to NEM and NEM assets.

NEM foundation is expected to spend $40 million in the coming years on a global expansion program and has already launched it's first Blockchain centre in Malaysia.

For a sneak preview of this centre check out this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U0XPvZXCLt4&feature=youtu.be

Additionally NEM has an incredibly active community and already has over 3000 members in it's telegram chatgroup. You can join here: https://t.me/nemred
The NEM blockchain also allows for Blockchain voting and it has already been used to allocate some NEM funds to interesting projects (like Luxtag) making use of the NEM blockchain, further incentivizing use of the Blockchain.

There is so many things being worked on right now, and so many things NEM can be used for. To summerize, NEM is a fast and scalable platform with an incredible number of applications, we are still at the very early stages of this incredible project.... If you haven't already looked into NEM or tried NEM before, I urge you to do so and experience the potential yourself.

I wouldn't be surprised if NEM becomes 'the Google of the blockchains' over the coming years

would it be possible to establish NEM as something like the EURO?  meaning its not tied to bitcoin anymore but as its own currency that other things are tied to like fiat?

I was wondering if anyone is looking into the ICO graft? I have been looking into it as it is built on top of the NEM platform. It is for payments. Seems like a very interesting crypto, just wanted to know if anyone had any thoughts?
