My guess is that it will be 5 x faster than the S3 - so approx 2.3 GH/s - but like the S2 compared to the S1, I reckon it will not be as competitively priced... hope it is - or the upgrade from S2 to S4 is at least a good deal.

[edit] I bought 3 x S2 about 35 days ago for 9 BTC + 2 BTC for import tax. Current wallet is about 4 BTC - unlikely to ROI now. Should have kept the coins on reflection. I'd need a 'good' deal to buy bitmain again. He should do something for the failed S2 buyers.

Did you use a coupon? I think S2 pricing most of the time was within ROI range only if you used a coupon. I bought some back in May and I'm pretty sure they will ROI. Although I didn't have to pay import charges so that helps too.

Not sure about ambient room temp, but of late we have been having a heat wave, outside 27 - 30 degrees C. 

Chips are showing 38-40 degrees up to 43.

Well after several days of running my S3's 4 out of 7 are running to spec (441GH/s @ 330Watts). 3 are running below spec (420GH/s @ 308Watts). After reading BitMain's suggestion to open them up and inspect heat sink and thermal paste, I found all 3 had some OVER USE of thermal paste on at least one of the boards. Cleaning them up and applying a proper amount of paste so as to NOT grease ASIC pins together, they are running @ spec...  For now, update in a few hours.

IF your S3 is running but running slow or has "x" or "-" indicators I would clean them up, apply proper thermal paste (pads would be even better), before trying to RMA as that could take sometime. Clean-up takes less than an hour.

Measure your GH/s and Temps before changing anything, note them.

You'll remove the heatsink and first do a cleaning/wipedown. Be gentle and very detailed!

You can use that solutions or any ISO Alcohol above 90% will do (I personally use 99% ISO)

Use a Q-Tip and/or MicroFiber cloth to do the cleaning.

Make sure the chipset is dry/clean then reapply the new thermal paste, but do not cake it on.

Boot and now look at GH/s and temps - if temps are higher, re-check everything and make sure you put enough paste on.

arf i had that problem with an S1, the glue wouldnt get solid after weeks of mining.. then the vent blowed dust on the board, mixing it with the glue. cleaned it up with some toilet paper () and lost about half of the hasrate. anyway, i ROIed and it was about the time to stop running it.

anyho, just saying, beware of that glue they're using. better letting the device cool down every weeks or so.

Yeah, S1 was baking dust on the back side of the machine. After a couple of months there was quite a mess near/under fan.
You probably had an ESD event when you were cleaning the boards with toilet paper (electrostatic discharge). I tried to not touch boards for cleaning at all, even when they looked a little dusty.
