Thx for digging that out.... Bitmain please take note. Do the same for us. At least a reasonable value instead of full value. Usd 50-100 seems a fair value as computer accessories.

Sorry but I doubt begging for lowered declared value is going to go anywhere.

Each block is stacked on top of the previous one. Adding another block to the top makes all lower blocks more difficult to remove: there is more "weight" above each block. A transaction in a block 6 blocks deep (6 confirmations) will be very difficult to remove.

Bitmain in case of RMA asking to put value 10$ so be nice to us BMAN and do the same....

lol, and again lol! if bitmain ask this they must start to do it on all of orders placed by us.

This is what i did receive from someone here in forum:

.....HI,

Please keep heatsink in your hand and just return the bad hash board to below address using our UPS account: R7xxxx, make sure to describe it as "Warranty part, gateway board" and declared value as "$10"

Please mark your name and order ID in the package.

$10 is not an unreasonable value for a DEFECTIVE board, but declaring a low value for a NEW product is not exactly apples-to-apples.

Sorry but I doubt begging for lowered declared value is going to go anywhere.

They could at least however put it at the correct price and make sure the documents are correct, I had some of mine marked as 500USD back when they cost 0,9BTC and BTC price was stuck in the 440 range. Then I've had one or two orders that were marked "computer game" instead of "computer game gateway" and I got slapped with customs fees in addition to VAT.

Actually the worst is when they describe it as "Bitcoin miner" UPS customs agents don't know what the hell to do with them.

I described exactly what they need to do and that is to use the correct import code for computer components/accessories or servers or whatever they want to call them that removes all question from both the import handler and the customs officers in the receiving country.

Just a heads up for anyone interested. We offer hosting in our Colocation in California - we also offer shipping from California.  Wink

As another UK 20% duty victim, I had a look at your website but there doesn't appear to be a simple way to buy the miners + hosting at the same time.

It says you can opt in to have it hosted, and there is a promo for 12 months at a reduced rate with free PSU (which I would go for) bit couldn't see how to add either of them.

And on a personal note, that moving top menu bar is annoying as it hides what you are trying to read when you scroll down Smiley

Didn't I mentioned reasonable & not 10usd.  And also referring to posts above... Bitmain themselves are not declaring the item price correctly.  We buy using btc & there is no usd value in their website.  Also declaring the item properly such as computer accessories  so that custom clearance will be much easier  for many other countries.

Many get slapped with taxes ranging 10-30%. Those lucky ones not getting slapped with that please stop trolling &  talk crap also miners getting stucked @ customs cos they don't know which category it falls under.

Just a small request not begging.  If Bitmain cares about loyal supporters &  customers, imo they should at least consider such small request from a buyer who wants to purchase more than 50 units.

Um.. o_0

Just curious, but could you describe the process and results of when a Bitmain shipment is lost?

And no, you don't come off as pompous or pretentious.

it makes no sense to fake the declaration in any way
customs will ask for payment proof no matter what sender wrote there

better declare real value and enjoy full transport insurance coverage

If you are not planning an overclock then a good brand 80 gold should be sufficient.  Corsair and OCZ are my personal go to units. Would be worthwhile looking at modular units too imho.

THis one is reasonable:

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Corsair-CP-9020056-UK-Series-Modular-Supply/dp/B00FG9FZS2/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1404302243&sr=8-1&keywords=850w+gold+psu

If you plan to overclock, you are probably looking at something in the 1000w range.

Once due to an undervalued declaration for a computer part by an international seller caused a lot of issue to me
Finally, the customs re-assed the value to two times the original price and that lead me to pay 60% customs duty for the real price.
So declaring original price or may be slightly lower with the addition of payment proof or statements will be more fine.
Huge undervalued product will definitely get into paying too much duty at the end.
Payment proof and declaration is always a problem. I think BitMainTech will not include payment invoice (USD) along with the shipment.

The Corsair Gamming Series GS-600 will be excellent.
This will support overclocking to any extend for this Antminer S3.
On the other side when S3 become old, in the future, this PSU can accommodate 2 or even 3 underclocked S3s.

I will use my 2 corsair CX750M that im using right now with 2 S1.

366W S3 without overclock, so no problem if you overclock, you have 750W and a very good PSU like Corsair.

How much W S3 overclocked?? 488W?

Ah found it:

There is no import tax, just VAT and a handling charge for the carrier.

There are two things that BITMAIN do wrong when exporting (lets skip the under declaration of value as thats illegal)

1. They OVER declare the value, they don't include the discount on the invoice or even on the customs declaration.
2. They label the device "Bitcoin miner" which is just stupid, just call it Computer or Computer Coprocessor Component, or even just "Server", better yet use the correct commodity code. (e.g. 8471.41.90 for Server device)

http://ec.europa.eu/taxation_customs/dds2/taric/measures.jsp?Lang=en&Area=&Taric=8471410090 could be the perfect commodity code:

Quote
8471
Automatic data-processing machines and units thereof; magnetic or optical readers, machines for transcribing data onto data media in coded form and machines for processing such data, not elsewhere specified or included
8471 30
-     Portable automatic data-processing machines, weighing not more than 10 kg, consisting of at least a central processing unit, a keyboard and a display
-     Other automatic data-processing machines
8471 41
-  -     Comprising in the same housing at least a central processing unit and an input and output unit, whether or not combined
