Mine at Jonny's Pool

It's amazing how much variance there is in the first few batches.  People have reported being able to hit and hold 504GH/s stable at a clock of 250, while others (like myself) can do no over clocking at all, and cannot hit even the reduced advertised stock speeds on all units.  For example, one of my S3s hashes very happily at 441GH/s @ 218.75.  The other one can barely hold 420GH/s at the same clock speed.  I've tried over clocking, under clocking both of them, but neither works.  Any change to a higher clock frequency inevitably leads to "x" and "-" and lower-than-stock hash rates.  I've pulled both of my units apart, cleaned and replaced all thermal paste with AS.  Unfortunately, I'm just one of the unlucky ones.

My 2 S3's arrived this morning.  They are now up and running at a steady 458 GH/s.  Interestingly they use about 30 watts less power than the S1's.

458 GH/s what frequency and how many Watts each S3?

218.75
I've got both S3 on the one UPS that shows 738 watts, so I figure about 369 watts for each.  Both have the same type of PSU too.

But its not dangerous to OC to 250? And how do i know if my S3 batch 2 can OC to 504 GH/s with luck without any problem, change frequency and wait for what, 2-3 hours and watch temperature and hardware failures?

218.75 ok Smiley

I will have to test when my S3 arrive, but im scared of changing frequency to 250 to try to OC to 504GH/s.... i dont want S3 to explode  Grin

At 250 frequency --> 504GH/s lucker S3´s , how much Watts there?

Release B4  Grin

they are likely using the last few days to ensure happy B1-B3 customers. By the end of the week almost every order should be shipped and they can offer 48-hr shipping on B4 onwards.

also, they probably need a few days to redesign the miner to achieve 500GH if its possible.

500GH Would be devine. Hopefully BITMAIN can do it.

They told me they won't redesign it (I asked more info the DC/DC component).

I got one unit that run at 250 mhz at ~503 GH/s (0.001% error rate)
The other one, running at stock at ~434 gh/s (Any OC kill the performance)

Same, I have 6 units and 4 run at between 485 - 503 GH/s the other 2 run at 420 - 440 GH/s . Attempting to overclock just knocks one or two of the asic's out until switch off.

There's an over clocking thread here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=699064.0

As has been stated here, there and pretty much everywhere, it's a toss up whether or not you'll be able to over clock the S3.  Some people have been very lucky and gotten them to run quite stable at 504GH/s.  Others like me are lucky to see 441GH/s and are more likely to see 415-420GH/s.

click on more to see more text- it is all right there

you have to remove # next to what you want to be active and add # next to what is currently active (218.75)
just be careful with typing-I always mess up the lane

If your S3 is not performing at 440 GHs, may be worth a shot to re-flash it.

Download the firmware here:

https://bitmaintech.com/files/download/antMiner_S320140711.bin

This was from the S3 thread and not sure why I didn't think of this instead of playing around with the freq's - but it worked. Got my unit I had to set at 212 freq to get 420 up to the 440's at the 218. Anyone with under performing units might try.

I reflashed both of my units, and so far, I cant really see a change.  With underclock at 212.50 I was getting 420-430 gh/s and I put them back up to 218.75 and am getting 442 gh on each.

0.10 including all the taxes in France, but a few days in winter are over 0.50€
Or you can pay 0.14 all year long, but it was less profitable for me than to turn everything off a few days.

If you used the link above, you were pointed to the original firmware file...... not the new one.

EDIT:  um... what happened to the new firmware file?
