Got thE message about RMA for bitmain and claim that they asking to mark this as 10$ part.

Bitmain if you reading this-don't behave like spoiled kid. If you putting EU customers on landmine of extra costs because of your description on the box don't expect anything different back from customers.

I wonder what happened to "GAME GATEWAY" and silly 20£ per box?

Why Bitmain changed that for EU customers?

Not trolling but for all s1 extra charges for UPS probably i would have another 10 s1 or more.

Funny is that when price per s1 dropped charge by UPS didnt.

They doing what they want.

Talk about spoiled kids, whining because a company wont lie so you can cheat yourself out of paying what you are suppose to.

Really? Where are you live? USA? EU?

Maybe for you is ok to pay for unit or two. But some of us paid for 20+ units.

How this works for you? I cant ask for undervalue my units and call it server or pc parts but BITMAIN  due to RMA doing this and he is ok?

Dont be idiot and read before posting.

And by looking at your post count and type of posts i can say you just here to troll. Are you actually customer who had at least one unit from bitmain?

whats the s1 upgrade?

I am also VERY curious about this..

It will come down to how hard it is for me to do, if I have to solder I'll just sell my S1's I think.  I cannot see how else I would upgrade it Sad.

Its speculation but maybe they will sell upgrade boards(higher ghash) to existing units and control boards?

A truly fantastic price would be 0.99 btc shipped, let's see if bitmain can do it

They would sell like hotcakes.

So I'd reuse the heatsink and case pretty much?  Humm.  That I could do, although it seems it would be better to sell my S1's and get S3's.

Well that's welcome news!

Kits to upgrade S1's to S3's would be a welcome addition, really liked the idea of the DIY S2 y'all had.

What parts could you reuse?

I think it makes more sense to just sell the s1 and buy an s3.

I can't see the S1 to S3 upgrade kit saving you more than what you can net $$$ selling your S1s.

In my neck of the woods I can sell the S1s $200 cash easy.

You got a good point, with the next difficulty forecast at 19+%, the ROI may not make sense. Some back of the napkin math would seem to say that BTC would need to hit about $750USD for it to make sense if the S3 upgrade is 1BTC.

Either way, I think mining is going to hit a bloodbath moment around november or december if prices still bounce around 500/600 range. You'll need around 10TH of power to equal about 3TH of power today. You either upgrade or you find yourself in the junk drawer with the usb miners.

So if the S1 upgrade path cost $200, a new S3 cost $500, and you can sell your current S1 for $200, you think it's financially beneficial to just buy S3s?

So if the S1 Upgrade path cost $200

How can that possibly be? Where are the $300 worth of parts you would be saving?

Arbitrary numbers I pulled out of my ass to make a point.  But, what does it matter?  Why does the actual cost of the saved components have to actually be $300?  They're valued at whatever BITMAIN decides to value them at and the rest of us just have to deal. Aluminum heatsinks aren't cheap, nor is shipping a huge chunk of metal across the globe in 2-3 days.

Edit: Aside from that you (BITMAIN) save on the fan + grill, antenna lead, control board, ribbon cables, end brackets, assembly labour, packaging material, hardware, HSC, etc.

I know these are arbitrary numbers. I'd just buy the S3 and sell the S1 at that point to save myself the hassle involved with the upgrade (if any) and the recycling of the old parts. Of course I would hope everyone else would do the opposite so that more equipment is junked and not contributing to the network hashrate.

It would have to be financially advantageous to me to do the upgrade rather than replace, and at a rate worth my (hobby) time.

And that's totally okay.  On the other hand, people like myself will opt to update my farm through upgrade saving the (arbitrary) $100, import fees, and the hassle of trying to sell a large lot of used S1's.  Hell, I could probably just sell the original hashing boards for $25 a piece and have saved $150.  Every extra dollar you spend is another dollar you need to recoup to have made the investment worthwhile in the first place.

Aluminum heatsinks are cheaper than you think. Probably about $5 worth of metal. All those savings you listed are probably less than $50 and $25 to ship.

What exactly will you be doing with the old boards? Will you be throwing them away? That's ~$150 down the drain.

Selling can be a hassle, very true. I'll probably put out feelers on craigslist soon. That's been very successful for me.
Selling on eBay is totally not worth the effort, and I'd rather throw them in the trash than sell on bitcointalk.

Why?  Most of the miners I've sold on Bitcointalk for straight BTC using escrow, and was the most painless experience possible.

EBay is the worst experience, because you have the threat of the Paypal chargeback, and those disgusting fees!
