Litecoin is coin nr.2, it for sure will not be nr.2 for long, but right now it is. IF you ask average BTC user, what other coins they know, most will say LTC. So it still have solid place. But everyone can see it from far that will not hold it for long. Same as XBT will not keep Nr.1 forever, but it is long long long way till there.

I dont hate LTC or way not BTC, but that is how it will be. As history teach us, nothing last forever. BTC is currently move way out of their roots, to be more, well to "kiss ass of capital". I already cashed out the little Litecoin I had. It just has no appeal anymore. I think the "first altcoin" (even tho is not) tag is just not enough to justify Litecoin. But at the end of the day all that matters for a coin to be successful is merchant adoption, so we'll see if people accept it or not, is all that matters really.

it seems like alt coins will fail, as the adaption of bitcoin, its the only getting accepted by merchants, the others will fade. no one will care for the alt coins, the others were just a ponzi. why do we need the other coins when we have more then 10 digits in bitcoin

We need innovation to move forward in the cryptoverse. Bitcoin has stagnated with it's innovation because the developers are scared to do big changes with the blockchain/blocktime. The new alt coins shows different ways to do stuff with the blockchain. Take for example Blackcoin with its PoS 2.0 solution. It has a faster transaction time than Bitcoin which is better when you actually want to buy something with your coins. It also have better security when it comes to 51% attacks and not to mention the energy saving since it's Proof of Stake. And then we have Ethereum with it's contract scripting system. This is just an example of innovations and solutions that the other altcoins can come up. Bitcoin will need to change if it wants to be #1 cryptocoin in the future. Dont take me wrong here, I love Bitcoin and the Blockchain Technology but we also need the altcoin development to try out all the new innovations. |

If litecoin rally to $50 or higher, bitcoin will probably go up even higher in term of percentage. And if bitcoin do bad, litecoin will do even worse based on historical evidence. |
