The Bitcoin software, network, and concept is called "Bitcoin" with a capitalized "B". Bitcoin currency units are called "bitcoins" with a lowercase "b" -- this is often abbreviated BTC.

I know the address changes when a new transaction is made. Anyway, can you make an option to import private key and also can you make an option , so that we can choose whether a new address should be made or not. Or you can make another app as standard wallet. Smiley

Hi hivers!

I copy-paste here my question from the Mac thread to the- hopefully - appropriate thread:
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=304060.msg8478905#msg8478905

If I understand things correctly:

Do I only need my wallet seed (12 words) to recover my funds (and addresses; there is currently one address in the Hive wallet but I guess more will be added) from 3rd party sources, or do I need the actual address or addresses as well?

How would you address the concerns about Hive Web as stated on bitcoin.org?

https://bitcoin.org/en/choose-your-wallet

What are the pros for Hive Web when considering Hive Web vs. Electrum?

When I asked this specific question outside the Hive topic I mostly got favorable recommendations for Electrum (mods: I hope it's OK to post the link in this context):

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=750028

I am interested in the perspective of the Hive folks as well.

You only need the 12-word passphrase to recover your funds. You can learn more about passphrase, PIN and addresses here: https://github.com/hivewallet/hive-js/wiki/Hive-Web-FAQ

If you compare all the web wallets listed you can see that they all share the "centralized" and "remote app" bullet points. Yes, we could do something about it but the solution is not technically trivial, so I don't have a good answer for you, at least speaking for the short term. As for "vulnerable environment", we could add two-factor auth. The reason why it's not there is because we started off as a mobile web app - 2FA doesn't add much to security if one uses the app from their mobile browser.

Hey!

For some reason I cant type in the skype chat, so ill just type it here.

I cant access hive web. It stuck on syncing wallet or verifying pin. To get around this, I usually just open an incognito window, and just type my key in, but that wont work either. Dont know what yo do.

Thanks.
