What about having a smartcoin forum?

Smartcoin Network?
Another thing I was thinking about, is if anyone has plans of starting a smartcoin network of websites,
basically feeders to the more important smartcoin websites?

I currently have this on the list for "websites".

* Customize and improve block explorer
* Web wallet and paper wallet generator
* Community discussion and chat
* Issue tracker and ticketing system
* Wiki
* SmartCoin email

I think those are mainly stuff within the current crypto-community,
which is likley the main target audience for smartcoin for now,
but doesn't extend out into the internet that much,
so misses out on a valuable source of 'new-comers' to smartcoin.

Whereas, Smart businesses branch out into many diverse categories,
and we might consider selling Smartcoin to those many diverse categories.
One way to make contact with those many diverse Smart categories,
is by having information websites about any/all of the Smart categories,
and simply have some 'paid ads' that lead to smartcoin on those sites.

As an example, I made a webpage at http://smartfood.bravesites.com
and I intend to create more pages there, but if you look,
you can see that I have placed 'paid ads' that lead to internetcoin.wordpress.com
and from internetcoin.wordpress.com that leads to Smartcoin(but I could improve on that
by having newcomer smartcoin pages full of information about smartcoin to help them to get
involved with smartcoin).

I am not paid for all the work I do, but the way I can get paid is via buying smartcoins
on the exchanges, and then helping smartcoin to increase, and hopefully the price of smartcoins
will increase on the exchanges and that is how I am paid then.

To increase smartcoin, requires bringing in 'new blood' to smartcoin continually I think,
else finding big investors/supporters which might happen too,
and amongst the crypto community is the most likely place to find investors
and participants for smartcoin,
but there is also the wider internet/world audience out there,
who might be 'new comers' to crypto, and they can breath new life
into smartcoin, and continually so, but requires some
introductory crypto or smartcoin pages where they might learn about smartcoin/crypto,
and from there, they might then chose smartcoin,
because smart-categories happen to already be one of their interests
.
This may already have been proven by the fact that they were on a smart-category website
and then clicked on a smartcoin ad, which introduced them to crypto/smartcoin/bitcoin etc...

Those smart categories are target markets for smartcoin, I think.

Some of those people, might be very interested in smartcoin,
and become merchants/stores who accept smartcoin as payment for their products or services,
with already pre-existing smart-category businesses, for example,
or some might also want to speculate and invest into smartcoin,
and crypto becomes a new hobby for them.

Smartcoin page at altcoincalendar.info

https://altcoincalendar.info/coins/8-SMC

I see that altcoincalendar.info has done some updating to their smartcoin page,
but the total number of coins is 24.5 million (not 51.2 million),
and Smartcoin is now a Scrypt / X11

Is there anything else for altcoincalendar.info at this time,
or is it just those two issues we want altcoincalendar.info to update?

Thank you for participating Smiley

Cryptsy still hasn't updated the info after the ticket I sent them. Might have to chat with the admins later today.

Update: I have just asked Mullick now about it, he's assigned to it and I caught him in chat just now. He said Monday hopefully.

My wallet has been continuously crashing and shutting down.

The only thing i can find to it is this event log entry.

Code:
Faulting application name: smartcoin-qt.exe, version: 0.0.0.1, time stamp: 0x54e845ef
Faulting module name: ntdll.dll, version: 6.1.7601.18247, time stamp: 0x521ea8e7

What OS are you using?

Windows 7 SP1 x64

It should be fine on Windows 7 x64... I haven't seen the error but it looks like there are some non SmartCoin related instances on the web.

Cause of Ntdll.dll Errors

The causes of ntdll.dll error messages can vary greatly. However, most ntdll.dll errors result from a corrupt or damaged version of the ntdll.dll file itself, corrupt hardware drivers, or issues between Windows and other programs. Ntdll.dll errors can sometimes mean that a piece of hardware in your computer is malfunctioning, but this is rare.

I decided to move the wallet to another PC to eliminate any corrupt file related issues.  The wallet still crashes, similar event log entry as before but this time the wallet file itself

Just tried running the wallet on Win 7 x64 SP1, works flawlessly. So it doesn't seem to be related to the wallet itself. Have you tried deleting the SmartCoin folder in your Roaming folder (MAKE SURE TO BACKUP YOUR WALLET BEFORE YOU DO THIS)?

psionin,

suggest a few small changes to the Smartcoin op...

1- the links to the 2 old main threads for smartcoin,
do they really need to be shown on the op?
( personally I would just delete that, it is old info,
no need to bring up negatives . if you have access to the offending thread that is coming up number 1 in search, you could change the title on that thread to something still smartcoin related but different and maybe that might drop it down in ser ?)

2- Scrypt / X11 placed up top under the smartcoin logo image(bigger font size and bolded)

3-  24.5 million coins all time total, also placed up high (bigger font size and bolded)
under the logo image

altcoincalendar.info/coins/8-SMC

I have contacted altcoincalendar.info asking him to
change the Scrypt to Scrypt / X11 and the total
number of coins from 51.2 million to 24.5 million on his website.

(the fact that they didn't see that info, may mean the
info needs to be displayed up higher, perhaps in bigger
font size , and maybe bolded too. )

Just deleted the files from the SmartCoin folder in roaming. Seems that this wallet has just gotten worse now.  During the resync of the wallet, it crashes every few minutes with a pop up error.  I am using a wallet.dat file from the old client, would this cause this?

Can you try deleting the files including wallet.dat (after saving a copy), downloading the blockchain, and then replacing wallet.dat with the previous one? (Also, after a crash, sometimes the program doesn't fully close, so it might be necessary to alt+ctrl+delete and terminate the process tree before restarting.)

1,3 - done
2 - it's actually just "X11" - I had Scrypt / X11 written there at the time of the transition, because it was still Scrypt, but changing to X11. Updated that too.

Wow it's been a long time since I've watched anything about cryptocurrencies and I'm really glad that SMC still has a strong community and a skilled dedicated developer that puts his time and effort into this to make this coin better.

I still have my SMCs that I got in the beginning and I didn't give up on them. Too bad I can't invest more time into this since my schedule is really tight but I see some dedicated people are already working on this coin and I believe it has a nice future.

I just had a crash that was taking place during loading, but it gave no pop up errors and had a different exception code in the log file. I think it might have something to do with improper wallet closing, but I'm not sure if the crashes are related.

Anyway, deleting everything in the data folder has taken care of it, but this would need to be addressed properly sometime.

Also, starting the wallet with the -salvagewallet option could be another thing to try.

I tried to do -upgradewallet, didnt help. I tried a new wallet.dat, and replaced with the old one, didnt help.  I eventually ended up tryin the -salvagewallet and it ended up corrupting the wallet file. Thankfully I backed it up.

The wallet syncs fine with a fresh new wallet.dat file.

I've noticed the wallet crashes when I find a block.  It may be after 1 block, or 4-5-6 blocks.. but it happens after about a minute or two after finding the block.

Here is a log output of what happened from the time the block was found until the wallet crashed:

Smartcoin will need to be in the top 200 sites at coinmarketcap.com

to have a chance at being accepted/approved to be put on the list for voting at coinpayments.net

and coinpayments.net is only having 1 coin per month, to accept payments through their site,

via the free voting system they have there.

I think smartcoin has to trade above 425 satoshi or so,
in order to make it into the top 200 at coinmarketcap.com

The current price of smartcoin is still very low, less than 1/10th of a cent U.S.
With only 24.5 million coins all time too.

We either need more buy support, or people shouldn't be selling so low,
it would be nice to be able to at least try to make it onto the
free voting list each month at coinpayments.net

It is a community thing, we all need to work together to get smartcoin up into at least the top 200 sites at coinmarketcap.com (coinpayments.net is making their own rules)

We need to be trading above 425 satoshi at least, or whatever it takes to get smartcoin into the top 200 at coinmarketcap.com (our buy orders should be above that, to keep the price up, and that also likely means that we will need to push the price up to just under 500 satoshi or above. That means SMARTCOIN IS A STRONG BUY RIGHT NOW, as long as the community supports this move up at this time, I cannot guarantee it, but smartcoin needs to be trading higher )
(this is just a short term goal, but we need to expand, and we want to have a payment processor,

so we MUST get the price of smartcoin trading high enough so that Smartcoin is in the top 200 at coinmarketcap.com )

There is a bunch of merchants who will likely begin to accept smartcoins as payment for their products and services, once smartcoin has payment processing with coinpayments.net
There is the other option of paying money to have coinpayments.net do payment processing for smartcoin,
but either way, once all those merchants jump on board, I would hope the price of smartcoin will increase from there. The price is too low to support that much transactions right now, so the price must go up.

What do you think of this?

Smartcoin - currency of a smart world

To add this at the end of any of your posts in the smartcoin thread,
here is the code to do that:
Code:
[size=30pt][b][color=blue]Smart[/color]coin[/b][/size] - [b][i]currency of a smart world[/i][/b]

Simply copy and past that code at the bottom of a post in the smartcoin thread to display that

As for now, replacing the .exe file found in the .zip is the only thing that needs to be done. If this is done after the fork block and there is an issue, the next thing would be to launch it with the -rescan option (yeah, I guess that's also not so obvious - but if you make shortcut, right click -> properties and editing the Target field to add " -rescan" at the end would do it). Finally, deleting all the files in the data folder except wallet.dat and restarting to redownload the blockchain is the last thing that is typically done if it still doesn't work. Wallet.dat should never need to be deleted, and it should be backed up if there are any coins. As long as the wallet.dat file is somewhere, there shouldn't be any issues with losing coins.

Update: it's actually " -reindex" and not " -rescan". Also, sometimes moving the old wallet out of the folder and only inserting/salvaging it after the new blockchain is downloaded would also be a way to go.

Here is a log output of what happened from the time the block was found until the wallet crashed:

There is just a blank line at the crash point. Does it always crash? What about when running just one video card on a regular PC?

Anyway, it's noted, and I can confirm other (uncommon) crash related issues. It would probably take some time for SmartCoin to have the resources to look at it in depth (if it's a case that happens only with mining rigs and not single GPU systems, then there would need to be a rig set up to replicate the process). I think that for now, the best course would be asking the mining community or searching the web in regards to the same issue happening elsewhere for an X11 / sgminer / multi GPU set up.

Smartcoin will need to be in the top 200 sites at coinmarketcap.com

Is there a bug in the coinmarketcap ranking?

It should be around 200 now if it wasn't put behind lower market cap coins because of (what?) reason.
