Is everything OK with the blockchain?

Block Explorer shows the last found block has a TimeStamp of "Thu, 01 Jan 1970 00:00:00 GMT"

Blocks are not beeing found.

Anyway, the wallet was acting strange on the server so i put the Pool Offline.

As soon as this issue is fixed i'll put the Pool back online

Hey, thanks for writing here. I've also noticed this odd transaction, perhaps it's some type of exploit - http://smartchain.cc/tx/a6d85e1ec17873f90dfe5e8270cfe90a2f5f70cb493e7161b82f415aad8c39bb

Nothing has changed in a while as far as the source code is concerned, and I have seen this before too, about a year ago, so there shouldn't be anything of critical concern. If there was a way to spend such malformed output, it must have been done already, but I don't think there is, because the tx is not part of a block. It's just a kind of spam. I have put this on my list of issues to investigate further.

I have also noticed other mining issues, however. For example, the pool at smc.e-pool.net:8960/static has been generating shares that were 97% "dead on arrival", but this seems to be a pool issue because at the same time (2 days ago) the Miningfield pool was working fine.

The main issue with SMC mining has been that a large amount of hash rate switches into high gear and then disappears once the difficulty has been raised. (Blocks were probably not being found as usual because of the increased difficulty.) This is a well known type of vulnerability, but one that should not be occurring with a sufficient amount of dedicated hash power always available to the network. I have been looking for a Baikal miner in order to resolve this, while renting X11 rigs to mitigate the sync delays that have been happening in the meantime.

I think it should be okay to ignore the invalid tx and bring the pool back online.

Pool is back Online

http://smc.miningfield.com

yesterday the wallet was generating a lot more load on the server, and a simple "getinfo" would take 15sec to get the output, a wallet restart would not solve the problem.

I don't know if it was some kind of attack, i've been having the wallet running for 2 hour now, and had no performance issue so far, so i'm putting the Pool Online.

Block explorer still shows that strange block as the last one, so i don't know if there's a bigger issue behind this.

Also Network Speed seems to be stuck.

Let's wait for another block.

New Blocks have been found.

Everything OK on the Pool, and block explorer is following blocks.

I would say it's back to normal.

Yep, looks good. As for the wallet RPC call delays, there has been a lot of DDoS activity on exchanges and other crypto services lately, so it's probably related to that.

Back to updating the client for me then.

Looks like this coin was delisted from bittrex. Doesn't show up in search, and not listed on coinmarketcap either. Strange as I just had a block yesterday, and sold.

Now it is only on Bleutrade, Cryptopia and Yobit.

That is a real shame.  Roll Eyes

How's the Electron app coming along?

If you have been following this thread recently, it should be evident that my current task is a codebase update to a higher version, and that the Electron app portofolio tracking and trading is put off until after that is done. I'm not aware of anyone else doing anything with SmartCoin at this time, unfortunately.

There have been a number of issues and bugs that have come up during the update, but they have been resolved, and so I think that the rest can be resolved also (currently having a PoW check issue with block headers in the middle of the blockchain).

I think that afterwards I may take a break or see what is going on with a different project like CannaCoin or Doge.

A pending issue for SMC is still having a sufficient amount of dedicated hash power, so if someone knows how to get a hold of a Baikal X11 miner, let me know. No answers so far regarding the legitimacy of the Alibaba advertisements.

What's going on with the blockchain?did it like, just stopped or something? last block is 855241 (Tue, 30 May 2017 16:24:36) i have an unconfirmed transaction for 4 hours and still shows 0 confirmations  Undecided

Also a friend recently bought a little and he's freaking out really bad after no transaction appearing after block 855241, he thinks everything is compromised and that he lost his money he keeps calling me every hour to ask if the blockchain is "back and working".Looks like it's gonna be a long night for me  Cheesy

This has basically been happening for months, someone hops on smartcoin with lots of hash then dissapears which freezes the network for a period. Smartcoin needs more sustained hash to overcome this.

Smartcoin also needs more active devs, more community and a perminant fix for this issue above that scares new users away from a coin that shouldn't be on the 4th page of cryptomarketcap......make it so Cheesy

Finished update to 0.11 - https://github.com/psionin/smartcoin/commit/f08a9b4e7d3aab15cb46547bfd83dc53b4b5d661

Still a lot of things left, but if you have a node, it should be okay to try this version. There are no forks, so it is not mandatory.

Code:
git clone https://github.com/psionin/smartcoin.git

Then build like Bitcoin, i.e., (on Debian 8)

Code:
./autogen.sh
./configure --with-incompatible-bdb
make
make install

This offers new features like having binaries added to the system path automatically and the smartcoin-cli command interface. Also it could resolve some issues, like that block that was not formed correctly.

Builds coming.

GeoCoin has been getting a lot of positive attention lately. This chart appears to show that GEO is a fork of SMC.
